The guests I wanted this year couldn't make it, so I'd like to reiterate my previous suggestions for Kato*Fuku (Emiri Kato and Kaori Fukuhara) and the girls of Non Non Biyori (Kana Asumi, Rie Murakawa, Ayame Sakura, and Kotori Koiwai), and also add Michelle Ruff (dubber for Tsukasa in Lucky Star) and Kari Wahlgren (dubber of Kagami)....and Marina Inoue.

Is there someone you have to send a letter to to make your guest request "official"? I was talking with a guy named Milton Le who said he would pass my request to the suggestion team.

Any request made here is "official". I look at and track every request and do my due diligence to determine the requirements of acquiring such a guest.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I was aware of several issues that occured during guest panels but not the ones that you listed, I will work on figuring out how we can keep our guests panels more appropriate in 2016.

Yes we are actively working on next years convention. I am personally working with our contacts and trying to sort out a guest list for next year.

Neither of J Michael Tatum's autograph sessions were canceled but the lines for both were cut, meaning we could not allow any more people to line up, prior to the session starting. On Saturday we allowed 160 people to line up for the hour long session and that filled up approximately 45 minutes prior to the session starting. During this Saturday sessions J Michael Tatum got through 115 of the people lined up before his session ended and he had another obligation on his schedule. Based on the demand that we saw during Saturday's autograph session there were rovers around on Sunday to assist in managing the lines. We allowed 150 people to lineup for the session on Sunday which caused us to have to cap the line approximately an hour before the session began. J Michael Tatum was able to get through the complete line of 150 people on Sunday in just over an hour which is an astonishing pace.

I've been to every Fanime since I was 9 years old in 1999 and have not cosplayed once at Fanime.

Instead of editing old posts please make new posts with additional suggestions to ensure I get notified that there is a new suggestion.

I don't believe the policy for 2014 has been published yet but you can look at last years policy on the website. If you are just looking for a summary last years policy stated:

No costumes may be realistic depictions of American Law Enforcement or current American Military uniforms, or have the words POLICE, POLICIA, SWAT, FBI, DEA, CIA or any other official government agency names or initials on them.

If you still have questions it might be helpful if you posted images of what you intended on wearing so a rover could weigh in on whether it would violate the policy.

I agree this was a mistake on NYCC part but it was also a major blunder on the attendees part in agreeing to the terms of using their social networking accounts to register.

I'm going to say, I sure as hell feel safer knowing that people's legal names are on their badge.  If I get punched or harassed by another con attendee, I want to be able to have a chance at identifying him instead of saying a fan name shared by lots of people.

I suggest looking at the badge number as that is a truly unique identifier for both attendees and staff.

I wonder if it were possible to setup a poll... where everyone could add to options and edit their ballets... that'd be quite efficient.

That's correct I have a database containing thousands of requests that I run a plethora of analysis on.

I personally think its because more and more of the non-anime related cosplayers aren't really into the anime scene and go within groups of friends as something they want themselves. Homestuckers or not to me, I saw more of non-costumed plain clothed attendees this year.

What's wrong with going un-costumed? I've been watching anime for 18 years (I'm only 23), been going to Fanime since 1999 (nearing 100 total conventions) and seen over 1400 anime series and have never really been into the cosplay thing.

Just because an attendee is "non-costumed plain clothed" doesn't mean that they aren't into the "anime scene".

EDIT: Regarding the "Homestuck hate". I have no problem with it and have seen similar influxes of fans ever since I started attending. In the late '90's-early '00's EVERYONE was obsessed with Eva, somewhere around 2004 there was a massive influx of Naruto cosplayers and fans, then we've seen Hetalia, My Little Pony and Homestuck in the past few years.

I wasn't a big fan of any of those "shows" at the time (partially due to watching Eva as an 8 year old) but have learned that the fandoms settle down in time.

Went back to work and starting to inventory what I got and update my collection website.

Not sure if you all know, but 2014 will be Fanime's 20th anniversary. We are working on something special, so we will announce when all details are finalized. Thanks!

So... the Powers That Be are aware that 2014 will actually be the 21st Fanime, right?  20 years since the first Fanime in 1994, yes, but technically the 21st Fanime to be held.    Just want to make sure so that no one puts in writing that it's the 20th Fanime (which was this year) when it's just the 20th year anniversary :B

Yes, we are aware of this. You can say the same thing about any anniversary, ex your first wedding anniversary is the 2nd time that date has come around that you were married.

Mailing badges – There are four issues: 1) Minors – We need to have contact information and do some ID verification because of the number of minors we have at con.

Are the badges that minors purchase different from the badges that adults purchase?

yup. lol... well at least the child ones anyway..

what's the age range on child badges anyway?

Child badges are for children 10 and under and are free with a paying adult (they must be accompanied by the adult while at the convention). I believe other minors need a copy of there parents id to pick up there badge.
