I hope you all recovered from the laughter of last year's panel, because the comedy club at Fanime is back for 2013! Otaku based standup comedy at its best.
We got a few things in store for you guys this coming year. It's going to be a lot of fun. Seasoned vets will be returning to report for duty, and new faces will be ready to perform. Also, we are on for two nights!
A 16+ panel.
The Comedy Club At Fanime: May 25th,Saturday, 7pm-9pm in Panels 3.
The Return of the Comedy Club At Fanime: May 26th, Sunday, 6pm-7pm in Panels 3
UPDATE: 05/14/2013Fanime is almost here! I also sent out an email to all comedians about confirming that they are ready.
To all other people, you can still sign up, but you'll be on a waiting list. If there is time at the end of either show, you'll get to perform. But keep in mind you'll have to do a five minute set or shorter.
Here is the list of the comedians and the order and nights they will be performing.
Saturday night:Glitch

Dennis Pham
G.
Soap
Gaspar
Dr. Scientist
Fazio
James
Sunday Night:Captain Li Hellsing
Hidden Hydra
DboyRob
Dan Bublitz Jr
UPDATE: 05/01/2013Sign ups are now closed. We have so many people that applied. Time to get everything lined up.
UPDATE: 03/28/2013We are approved, and we are on for Saturday night and Sunday night.
The scheduled times are:
Saturday May 25th, 7pm-9pm in Panels 3. This is our main show and will be a mix of veterans to the club and new comedians.
Sunday May 26th, 6pm-7pm in Panels 3. This night will mostly be made up of new comedians.
UPDATE: 02/21/2013If you sign up now you are on a waiting list.
The moment you've been waiting for people: How to apply. Newbies and experienced comedians are all welcome.
Send an email with the following info.
Actual name (yes, it'll be kept private upon request):
Email:
phone number I can reach you during the convention:
How you want to be introduced before your performance(otherwise I just say your name):Email to
[email protected]. Make sure to put "COMEDY CLUB" in the subject line(any questions you have can also be sent to this address).
People who have performed in previous years at the comedy club get guaranteed spots.
And also be ready to memorize and time your sets, and make sure it is comedy relating to anything geeky(that's kind of a given but just to clear all bases).
EDIT: You must have a badge during the time of the panel. More than one comedian has performed without a badge before, and I don't want that number to grow. Just keeping things cool with panel staff.
EDIT 2: This is a 16+ panel. You can swear and talk about sex, but don't get graphic. As long as your sentences aren't entirely make up of curse words and you don't mention every precise detail of certain sex acts, you should be fine.
I'M INTERESTED. I think its silly to end a cap sentence, which obviously conveys excitement, with a period. Sorta like ending a mundane sentence with an exclamation mark! Anyway, yeah, I'm interested. Again.

Well I'm putting the main point with an exclamation point, and miscellaneous info in period. Ending it with excitement would be like saying "Welcome. We have cookies on the table!!!!!"
I was actually making fun of my inability to turn off caps lock.
I'd be up for performing
how do i be funny
I'm so down, You'll laugh so hard you'll forget about all the stalkers. which, chances are it's me.
Excellent.(for some reason I didn't an update in my email about the thread XD )

You move your mouth, and jokes come out.
This sounds pretty cool to see :)
This is always the best panel
I had a lot of fun last year and I'm super down for performing again this year! I've already started working on my routine.

Comedy comes from the unexpected! When preparing your routine, try to come up with jokes that go places the audience isn't expecting. Don't worry if someone else has done a joke like yours–just put your own spin on it! Also, make sure to practice. Practice twice as much as you think you need to!
god dammit im nervous, IMPROV
Love the comedy club. Nearly pissed myself last year, even when one of the comedians had a piss at me! (I was dressed as the doctor if anyone remembers :3)
Might give it another try (to attend, and maybe to take part); I was Scootaloo there and got acknowledged by Fazio (to the audience's delight)!

Being completely random is the way I do humor(because i love that style). Although everybody has their own style. Tha'ts the cool thing about the panel. You'll get everybody doing their own thing.
I'm up for doing this again!
i would be interested in doing stand up. is that possible?
I would love to join! I do standup comedy here in the Bay Area on open mic nights. I really want to be a part of this this year :)
Well you know I'm down
If this goes on for two nights, how can I get in on both? Yeah, I'm that greedy. Selfish. Whatever, I just want attention. Me, me, me.

The second night is to handle the overflow of new talent. If there are not enough new people to fill up the second night, I'll ask some vets if they want to help out(yes, I'll remember you posted this).
Bump for the update. How to apply!
I'm in for Sunday Night.
Sent request. And yes, keep me in mind if overflow is a no go. I've got material up the wazoo.
I have sent in the panel requests a few hours ago. Luckily we'll get both nights approved.
may the odds ever be in your favor
Hey, this is Gaspar. I just emailed you to sign me up :)
I got all of your applications. For such a short amount of time, it was pretty fast seeing all those submissions come in. We'll probably get even more people as time proceeds.
Aaagh I thought I had sent my application but it was still in my drafts folder. Oh well, fingers crossed!
More application came in. You guys are fine so far.
Also bump for an edit update about Fanime badges.
just a quick question, do/did you guys send out confirmations yet?

I have not. I kind of forgot about that.
I'll get to it sometime tomorrow.
I guess also bump for edit I just made.
Bump for our approval and new details.
I also have sent a confirmation email letting you guys know that I received your applications.
Request sent! (James Form Canada) Haven't registered for Fanime Con yet, but now that I know I'll still be on the West Coast I figure I should get this in.
Last year was my first time doing stand-up ever, and I leanred a lot, so this year should go between 5-6000% better.

What about adding a 9 in front of those numbers?
Bump for update.
Bump for the "right before fanime" update.
A big thank you to everybody that came by. I was glad to see so many stick through the whole show, and for those that came back for The Return of The Comedy Club. We had a lot of fun.
The videos will be posted at some point(I have so many videos from Fanime to work on).
Bump for videos!
Cheers for the upload, Glitch.
