Quote from: "Spiritsnare"How about all of the above? I'm surprised you haven't added an option for that.
I had assumed that everybody wanted to see everything to a certain extent, but I thought putting in the word "most" would contradict an "all of the above" option.  I didn't manage to catch any of Joe's panels this year, but most years, I manage to hit every category.  I'm definitely a fan of AMV and cosplay too.  Life is full of tough choices.

There are only 11 votes so far, but I'm surprised that nobody voted for the Japanese seiyuu yet.  In retrospect, I guess I should've separated the video rooms from the dealers.

Having doujinshi circles at Fanime sounds like a neat idea, although didn't Higuri-san do doujinshi initially?

There was another topic about people wanting American voice actors and licensing companies at anime cons.  I personally go to hear the Japanese guests.  Just for fun, I wondered what everybody else goes to anime cons for.

Quote from: "Tuplica"printing out flyers after you get there?  Pricey and rushed.
Rushed, maybe, but the convention center is very close to some college campus.  There's got to be student-priced copy centers somewhere nearby.

Panels and Workshops / Japanese Tea Ceremony

Quote from: "ced1106"I remember reading a book about food and cultures, and the author wrote that every culture has a bitter drink, with children learning to drink it by the addition of sugar, milk, etc. In the states, it's coffee
  I didn't put any sweeteners in tea until after college (when I was first exposed to Thai teas and then pearl milk teas), and I've been drinking hot tea since before I can remember.  (I used to have a very sensitive stomach as a kid, and I think hot tea helped kill off whatever bacteria it was that kept making me sick.)  And in the States, plenty of adults don't seem to ever get weaned off the sugar, milk, or cream in their coffee.

Panels and Workshops / Japanese Tea Ceremony

Quote from: "Chun"I would like to attend a tea ceremony at least once in my life. Though I never truly understood what makes it delicious...
Caffeine is an addictive substance...?

Quote from: "Long"Mr. Angst? I think everyone's had enough of him.
Hidoi!  I believe he's only been to Fanime once.  It was really cool to watch him do great sketches for his autograph signings in the dealers room.

Quote from: "Akira Miyamoto"is the average anime fan in America truly intrested in the ways of Japanese culture and tradition?
FanimeCon attendees aren't "average fans" -- I imagine most would like to go.  However, there's a lot of other stuff happening at FanimeCon.  If you happen to schedule during the same time as something more popular, then people won't go.  For example, I would love to attend the tea ceremony panel, but the Guest of Honor panels would take precedence for me.  The biggest downside to Fanime is that there's only one of me but there's often multiple events I want to attend during any given hour at the con.

Quote from: "laminatedbunny"Who performed at the first Fanime Musicfest? o.o
It depends on what you count as "MusicFest".  If you mean events that were officially called "MusicFest", then that would be 2004 with Nami Tamaki, Duel Jewel, Camino, and Blood (I believe).  The years previous to that were called "GakuFest", not "MusicFest".  I believe that the very first musical performer at Fanime was Mari Iijima at Fanime 1999 (I wasn't there), but I think it was simply called "the Mari Iijima concert" back then.

Quote from: "Leishu"The unfortunate truth is that pretty much every reputable establishment in Santa Clara County closes at about 9:30PM :p
I don't know what you consider "reputable", but we usually do TGI Friday's during late nights.

Quote from: "Akira Miyamoto"maybe it could be done again next year...
Wait!  There's nothing wrong with doing it again this year!  2001 was a long time ago, and I didn't go.

The Fanime2001 Program Guide says that there was a supposed to have been a Tea Ceremony at that Fanime.  I wonder if it actually happened and how it turned out.

Come experience the Urasenke tradition of Chado (see story on page 29).  You will have the opportunity to witness and participate in this special ritual.  Reservations are required.  See our information desk for details.
