Ah, okay! XD

Although still, that doesn't prevent me from skirting around my inbox, just wondering if it will be SOON, ahhhh.

Well Jose did say starting tomorrow (meaning the 14th) and over the next few days, so...hopefully by Friday night PDT we will find out? Eh eh?

(Or maybe there are different days they sent out emails to those whose entries made it vs. those who didn't. Or it's randomized or one by one. You never know?)

I'm pretty sure I can make it to the Friday viewing, since I'll be checking in that morning and picking up my badge. I really don't know if my friends and I can make it in time for Saturday, since we'll be attending a cosplay gathering that day at 1 PM; and that is super close to when viewings show. A shame though, since we'll be dressed up in the exact same outfits for the anime that I made the AMV with. D:

One of the things I look forward to (especially if I am a finalist; or do they manage to screen all the entries somehow during the whole con?) is seeing my work on a big screen and with booming audio. It isn't the same as watching it online (and definitely when you are editing and crying and yelling at the editing program to cooperate...)

Oh nice! Good to know there's a good amount of comedy and experimental entries this year.

This is my first AMV that I'm entering in contests, so I'm pretty excited and nervous to hear back soon.

Good luck to you! :D

I'm interested to see how many of the Experimental videos will be trailers and how many will be traditional-Experimental-doesn't-fit-in-any-other-category.

Thank you! :D

I agree: AMVs that don't fit in comedy/action/drama/romance categories are rare gems.

So here's what we have for the 2013 FMV Contest.

Action: 22
Drama: 25
Comedy: 11
Experimental:16

We're finishing up the Judge's Panel and will start sending out the next round of emails tomorrow. This means that you should expect you emails letting you know if you submission has made it into the final show in the next few days. Cheers!

My understanding is that the judges look at all the videos then decide which ones make it to the final rounds. Do they view the final entries a second time and score them, or does all judging take place at once?

Also, is it possible to post a tally of entries per category? It'll be nice to know how much was submitted by the hard deadline this year. Thanks!

@kimu and inoli: Can I just say I'm ecstatic at the high possibility of you two going as Nihon Fai and Kurogane to the gathering? I adore them in that arc!

This is a great idea! But what happens if we are unfamiliar with one or both series?

Even if you were to get contacts from places like Costco and Walgreen, my hunch is they will ask for your prescription (for contact lenses, not eyeglasses) since you will need prescripted ones. Keep in mind that prescription for contacts is different than for glasses (for example, my contact lenses are -7 and -6, while my glasses are -7.5 and -6.5) so it's best to get a consultation with your optometrist.

And like some have said, you don't need to say that you want them for cosplaying/costuming reasons. I know some people who prefer glasses, but have contacts for special occasions.

Sunday would be better.

Maybe enough red food coloring mixed with syrup? It dries pretty convincingly and is pretty cheap.

I would have never thought of that. Poked around searches for syrup blood and I've seen people say it really does a convincing work. I'm surprised I didn't see those ideas when I initially searched. Thanks!

I'm doing a cosplay that requires a dress shirt to be bloodstained mostly along the back. Does anyone know what is the best material I can use to make (dried) blood look as realistic as possible? Preferably so it doesn't end up pink. I am okay with having permanent stains on this shirt I'm using.

Awesome, excited for Clover cosplays!

Anyhow my group will be going as the crew from Tsubasa (specifically the bloodied Tokyo arc outfits). I'll be Kurogane, and the four others will be Fai, Sakura, clone!Syaoran, and original!Syaoran.

I think for now, either day works, but I'll double check with them.

Yay, another K Project/Project K/K cosplayer! :D

I will be going as Yatogami Kuroh with the pink apron.

When I save my FMVs, the details state that the frame rates are 854 by 480. (I use WMM). The original video source is a 4:3 ratio. Will submitting a FMV or two with those parameters work, or will I have to change it to 720 by 480?

I just booked a room at the Marriots next to the con center (with my credit card, not debit). The estimated total rate for my group is about $400. Is the deposit fee an additional charge, OR will it be a part of the total $400~ package?

Deposit is an additional charge. With a credit card, the hotel puts a hold for the actual amount (the ~$400) and another hold for the deposit (in your case, $50/night). At check out, the actual amount is actually charged, and the deposit hold drops off after a couple days.

That makes a lot more sense now. Thanks for answering! (And $50/night is a good deal)

Ok, this is OUTRAGEOUS! All the hotels are charging $100 per night deposit??? I booked at the Fairmont at $89...so that means the freaking deposit is more expensive than the price of actually staying there! We're not made of money, you know. Fanime's already driven up their prices for reg to obscene levels, now the hotel crap?

This is my first time booking a hotel for Fanime, but my understanding is that deposits will range from x min. to $100/per night. Still though the deposit business is making me nervous.

Wondering if anyone is planning or thinking about cosplaying as a character from K anime (a.k.a K Project, Project K, [K]). I know the first season has just ended, so it's still really new, but I hope there's Fanime attendees who are fans of the series.
