Title: Press Photographers?
Post by: quantbits on January 12, 2008, 12:42:47 AM
Press Photographers? Con documentors?

Just wondering how that works with Fanime... :)
(I know AX hires some. )

I'm not sure how it works, but perhaps we could have a certain group of people volunteers/staff who will agree to take photos and post them to, say, a flikr account or somesuch. That way, we could harness the photography skills of some of our people without having to pay super-expensive professional photographers. Also, these photos could be viewed on the web in a nice format (example: flikr). That's just my two cents...

Currently, we don't have them. Plain and simple really... We were looking in to having a photographer work with Web for this year though. Fanime doesn't hire anyone though. No one gets paid for anything they do on Staff.

yeah I wasn't expecting monetary compensation anyways.

I thought it'd be just fun for amateur and semi-pro photographers to get some practice in, and benefit Fanime at the same time, that's all =)

errr. I just realized what I mis-typed.

What I meant was, I'll work for free =)

Many groups and organizations do coverage on Fanime. Most of them would be more than willing to allow Fanime to use their work if asked.

If you add me as a contact, you can see many more of my better/exclusive work.

Or you can add me on Facebook and see some of my more casual everyday shots.
(under Alton Sun)

I can also contact juggle, card manipulate, butterfly knife flip, among others.

I should be there every day and am generally recognized by my 7+ inch vertically spiked hair.

Thanks!

I'm also interested in doing photography for the event, and I don't need to get paid. However, I'd like a press pass of some sort. =]

I use Canon EOS 1Ds, Canon EOS 40D, and Canon XTi bodies.

For lenses I'm using the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS, 24-70mm f2.8L, 85mm 1.2L, 135mm f/2L, 50mm 1.4, 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS, and a lensbaby 3G.

3 flashes: 580EX II and two 430EX's.

I also have a TON of accessories for both camera and lighting setups both static and mobile.

My resume includes doing fashion shows for Seventeen magazine, the Apple website, and many weddings all over the world including a celebrity wedding.

So if I could at least get some fanime support, I'd love to add my photos in to the mix.

Some of my work can be seen on popular sites such as model mayhem, onemodelplace and deviantART ( http://chosenbydestiny.deviantart.com ) just by searching my username.

Thanks!

- Ryan

Marketing is looking into having some photographers for FanimeCon, but it might not happen until the 2009 convention.
