I would love to see how someone would cosplay the Glow Cloud. That would be amazing.

(I'd go to this panel if it happens. Still undecided if I'll actually cosplay from this, though. I mean, I actually am a research scientist who studies earthquakes in the desert, but my hair really isn't perfect, so I dunno.)

For all we know Carlos' hair isn't either, Cecil just thinks it is. ^^

'Sides I'd say your job makes you more than qualified for it, "perfect" hair or no.

I'd like to see this happen. ^^

Wood, depending on what it is and what the weight of it is, is usually a no, metal also is on the same boat. I know its not the same, but you often got to get the plastic knock off of teh real thing, but do a little painting and it pretty dang close to looks the same.

on the matter of the sword, as long as you are only pulling it out of the scabbard at the gathering only, it should be fine, you may or may not be allowed to do it. the main concern about sword/sword-like is people whacking others, and its broad to be fair to all.

I say this from statements of others, but im not the book on this.

...and because it never fails that some moron decides he needs to have a sword fight in a crowded hallway.

But yeah, as they said, generally anything like that might just be out of scope for walking around with. When you have San Jose rules, convention center rules, and the experience of countless idiots ruining it for the rest of us that Fanime has it makes the prop rules very complicated. There's always a better idiot who thinks he's safe. Best thing for you to do is when the Prop Rules thread comes up for 2014 ask there and provide pictures and details, so the Cosplay staff can make a decision over it.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Booked already??
January 01, 2014, 10:20:26 PM
You can't call the hotels to reserve as it all goes through a 3rd party, Fanime Housing. You can only reserve through them to get the con rate. I honestly doubt the hotels have any real information to give you, all they know is to reserve the room blocks which is why anyone calling is getting a "full". Of course they're "filled", because the convention is going to take them all. So by calling all you're doing is confusing yourself and wasting your time/money on other places.

Best is to do what everyone else does. Stalk the forums/website/twitter accounts until they post when it'll be opened. It's usually sometime this month, January.

Been going to Fanime for nearly 10 years now, (missed 2004, was in Canada) and I don't ever remember hotels going up in November. Usually it's January, somewhere. One year it was the end of December. Keep checking here on the forums 'cause you'll hear about it before the website gets it.

Thanks for getting the schedule up! Your hard work is much appreciated. ^^

If a schedule can't be published prior to Fanime, perhaps a LIST of events would be helpful.  Just knowing the events would help me plan my weekend.

There is a list of events. All over the website in their proper sections. There's even a Panel Listing up, so we can all see the panels that'll happen this year.

So what is the difference now, compared to 2 years ago when you didn't have Clockwork Alchemy? If I remember correctly the schedule was out a full 3+ weeks before the con.

Is it possible that maybe running two cons at the same time is not a good idea?

There's no difference, honestly. Sure one year it might have been out early...but another it was out the day before, one year it didn't come out at all (which actually was the printer's fault, not fanime's), and so on. Clockwork Alchemy has nothing to do with it really. And I'm sure the construction and logistics issues this year do not help anything at all. ^^

So! ^^

How likely is it that we'll get a schedule before the Con actually starts? *grins* I just have to ask out of curiosity, and knowledge of a long and amusing history of this con and schedules. ^^

I'll probably come as Iceland then. I like afternoon gatherings better anyways, so this works for me.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Radisson Hotel Shuttle
April 26, 2013, 11:07:52 PM
Last year the shuttle going between Clockwork Alchemy and Fanime was free. Didn't cost us anything to hop on board and check it out for awhile, and it was relatively quick too.

I'd be interested. I always wanted to do one, and never had the chance before.

Video Programming / Re: Hot Yaoi Nights

I'd wonder if it will even exist as Yaoi Con who did alot of it in previous years has gone down the tubes...

Someone here was advertising for a combined RotG, How to Train Your Dragon, Brave and Tangled meetup. Might want to join up with them if not too many people respond.

I'm going as Jack and have a friend coming as Hiccup myself.
#36
Okay, plans changed so most likely I'll have Jack Frost done for Fanime. Human or normal not sure yet but the staff is coming along well (and HUGE, omg). May even convince a friend to be Hiccup so we can be obsessed morons together. ^^

You know, the one time I got an AA table, I just went to San Jose's BOE, got the temporary seller's permit and paid the taxes when I needed to. I live in a completely different county. Where I actually lived seemed to not make any difference...and I'm pretty sure they never asked me.
#38
I'd like to see this one. ^^
#39
Possibly Iceland or Chess Norway depending on when it is and if I manage to get all the crap for the latter finished on time. ^^

Probably won't get around to making that Jack Frost cosplay I want with the other three I really have to do, but I'd be interested in checking this out at least.
