General Anime Chat / Ani-Jam 2005
June 21, 2005, 06:27:51 PM
Last year seemed kind of spur of the moment as well and the venue was so small...but then again, no one expected 500 people.  Even though it was a mini-Con they still had decent dealers, AMVs and a cosplay costume contest.  It was a lot of fun.
Stay tuned for further details and check the website often for updates.  Hope to see as many of you as possible at Ani-Jam.

Declinsion-Do you attend the anime club meetings at the Fresno Art Museum on First and Clinton streets?  The next meeting is in July.  If you're interested, I would love to meet you, there.  I don't know enough people here.

Christian Bale is hot.  I've had a crush on him since I was 12.

It's playing at the Kabuki 8 Theatre in S.F.  And from the advertisements I've seen, Howl sounds a lot like Brad Pitt.

Unfortunately, it will have to win an Oscar before it will play in Fresno.

Those of you who have been on the boards for a while have heard me talk about Ani-Jam before.  In 2003,  it was a 6hour mini-Con held in Fresno, California.  The organizers were only expecting about 200 people to show up.  Attendence for the evening topped 500!, including several members of our messageboard family.  So, back by popular demand is Ani-Jam.  There are no dates yet for the 2005 Con, but anyone who may be interested in attending, the website is:
                  www.ani-jam.com
Please try to make it, if you can.  The more support given at this crucial early stage, the larger this Con can become.  Then, our NorCal Otaku will have another Convention option in California, other than A/X.

Well, my friends and I had a killer skit for DerCosplay called "Kill Excel, vol. 1", but no one got to see it.  Our Excel has a major costume malfunction.  It was bad.
The cool part was that I spent the whole weekend being clung to, cuddled, and otherwise dry-humped by a bishi cat boy!  ^,~

Fanime '05 will be my eighth Fanime.  My first con experience was 1998 at Foothill College.  I went with my friend Claire and met up with SpazMegami there too, by coincedence.  I saw the latter episodes of Sailor Moon R for the first time and discovered new hatred of ChibiUsa.
It's because of Fanime that I learned to sew (for costumes) and it's how my friends and I get together every year from all over CA.
Favorite Con experience: Fanime 2K.  It was four days of cosplaying, anime and mind altering insomnia.  I think I slept all of 25 hours in four days, plus CHAIR!  Yeah.

Yeah, where can I get a subbed version.  I tried watching the dub, but it was pretty bad and reminded me too much of "Kung Faux," which is hilarious, BTW.  I was unable to enjoy it and take it seriously.

General Anime Chat / What Is BayCon???
July 02, 2003, 07:13:30 PM
Question answered.  Thanks!

It's a shame people are planning to blow off Fanime next year.  The last four day Fanime was the best Con I'd ever been to.  '04 should be a lot of fun.  But to each his own, right?

General Anime Chat / What Is BayCon???
June 30, 2003, 06:16:22 PM
I was being honestly curious in my last post, but it appears I have been taken with a different meaning.

I moved out of San Jose 3 years ago and am no longer up on the events that take place.  The first time I'd ever heard of Bay Con was on this messageboard last week.  And now people are talking about ditching Fanime for it, so I'm just wondering what the hell is BayCon anyway??  Somebody...anybody??

Quote from: "animesucksfatass"okay you physco paths... you would rather date a cartoon character then i really woman? NOW i really pity you. What are your closets full of? huh? strange sex toys i beat. I can't wait to see you to a the movies loser man/women with their cardboard cut out date. At least your doing us a favor and keeping the population down. And i thank god for that so i don't have to see your kids running around with what "NeW" Anime thing that is coming out next. I think what you all need to do is give this shit up for a few weeks get a girl and go get laid, enough with the hand already. GOd just leave this post now before i shove my foot up your ass.

It's such a shame that stupid people are aloud to utilize the 1st Ammendment.  Okay, why are you here, oh poster child for brain death?  Is your life so empty and meaningless that you feel the need to come here, and post this crap baring your ignorance (and apparent lack of an elementary education) just to get attention?  How pathetic are you, anyway?  How about  you stop downloading porn, move out of your parent's basement and maybe, oh, I don't know, go back to school?

Panels and Workshops / How To Sew/Cosplay Panel
April 16, 2003, 06:31:01 PM
Armor and weapons is way to much to cover in one panel.  That would be more of a How To for more experienced cosplayers.  I'm talking about the bare bones basics like using a machine and reading patterns.  Also how to convert patterns to what you need.  Cheap fabric vs. showy fabric and all that.  This would be something for the beginners, either people who have never cosplayed before or do all their sewing by hand.

Covering the threading of a machine would be difficult only from a standpoint that all machines are different and may not thread the same way or wind bobbins the same way and it depends on whether the machine is a vertical or slanted needle, ...etc.  These are the kinds of things that would be covered.

Isn't there anyone who could host this panel????

Panels and Workshops / Re: Aaaah, crap.
March 31, 2003, 02:26:04 PM
Quote from: "Cream Kit"Egad. I don't think a single panel would do any justice to the skill. Anybody here actually make their own clothes that don't look like they come from a game or manga series?

I do.  I've been making a lot of my own clothes, lately.  I've also been converting old or ill fitting clothes to give them another use( i.e. short jeans into pedal-pushers or shorts).  It's a pretty useful skill and I started to learn by making my own costume.

Panels and Workshops / Umm

But I have an extremely basic (and temperamental) machine I could lend.  And if anyone agrees to host, I'd be happy to help.

Panels and Workshops / How To Sew/Cosplay Panel
February 19, 2003, 05:55:20 PM
I think there should be a How To Sew/ Cosplay panel.  A lot of people want to cosplay, but either don't know how to sew or how to convert patterns to match their character.  That would be a huge help.

Anyone interested in teaching this?  I would, but I'm a little overextended as it is.
