Favorite pair:
Love Hina girls!
Motoko x Kanako, inspired because of that "incident" in Volume 11 XDDDDDDD
both dress quite plain but still manage to be hot, plus perfect ages for me
but they're great separate, too:

Motoko: Kendo girl, tall, pretty, great bod, but really she had me at kendo, I'd be glad to practice mornings and twice in evenings ^3^ she' strong and independent, and quite innocent ;-)

Kanako: probably the character with the most realistic proportions at any time in Love Hina, smart and she loves hard.. if only she didnt have a bro complex, but no one's perfect. good thing she's pretty naughty

yeah longest standing anime fav of mine

others: Rei Ayanami (NGE), Hyuuga Hinata (Naruto), Merryl Strife (Trigun), oh and Chi (Chobits) is the only one on my list for pure cuteness

Freak danced at Club Fanime.

...

I'm sorry.

Also, blew cash on goods I knew were overpriced, like $15 for an item that went for about $7 in Japan later that summer...

Exhibited strong antisocial qualities during the con. Did the same the year before.

Apparently, abandoned Rette. U_U Didn't know about the "No!" thing, sounds kinda funny now.

download

but if you must, excel saga. not only do you have the awesome nabeshin as your icon, but, in my opinion, excel saga will be more enjoyable when you rewatch it again and again, wondering why you didnt save the money for something you cant download

General Anime Chat / bad habits? maybe
April 27, 2006, 12:39:45 AM
In this one ep of Love Hina Again, Kentaro (not really, but I don't want to spoil) raises one hand up and says "Yo" in greeting. I actually do that.

A friend of mine and I will exclaim "NANDATTEBAYO!" sometimes, usually in unison, usually in Japanese class. Thanks, Naruto.

I also tend to use slang and curse words I picked up over time. (^0^)

buy?

for me, only at cons because its where I tend to feel loose with the wallet

General Anime Chat / history
April 27, 2006, 12:31:07 AM
first animation ever: Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, VHS, dubbed (I was about 12, with no japanese experience) yeah late bloomer I was

first series: Pokemon, in english on WB20 (yeah around that same age, got into the game craze, naturally I couldnt help but watch the show, too)

first animation, not dubbed: Escaflowne (not the series) I was in highschool already, freshman year, anime club! oh yeah

never got into dragon ball Z, gundam wing, sailor moon (for some reason I hated the theme song, can't imagine why), stuff that was really hot at the time I was in jr. high, but I occasionally caught them on Toonami's Rising Sun program (a la Cartoon Network)

(ugh took me three months to download all of love hina on kazaa over 56kbps, this was back before bittorrent and when dsl was new)

General Anime Chat / part 2?
April 27, 2006, 12:18:20 AM
Quote from: "Kegan_Flame"I know someone is probably going to kill me, but i think Fruits Basket was just horrendous. The voices are stupid and the plot revision is simply lame. I LOOVE the Manga, but the Anime was crap :(

forgot to mention that in my first post, but YES.

General Anime Chat / something like a rant
April 27, 2006, 12:16:13 AM
I'm really hard on these anime. If you disagree, instead of flaming me, please put up a good argument. :P

Bleach:
crap filler, still going on. have switched to manga to continue good story but waiting for the anime to get back on track.

Initial D:
suffers from dragon ball syndrome, where battles occur over several eps, wasting lots of air time (and my life). really funny how characters will stand by the road for hours (apparently), witness .5 sec of the cars driving by, and talk about how it was "the most amazing race I've ever freakin' seen in my life." because of the heavy time consumption, I don;t have any time to actually watch it anymore.

Naruto:
crap filler, not sure whether its going on because I have lost interest. despite upgrades and life lessons, some characters seem to never learn anything (ex: naruto). first movie ("ice princess" or something) also lacking in character, content and plot. not sure whether I will continue the manga as current arc bores me.

Tenjou Tenge:
downward spiral of DOOM following first nine or so episodes. strange sequencing concerning long flashbacks, as well as flashbacks within the flashbacks. storyline collapses following the death of major character (Rette, you said it), though I never liked that guy anyway. ending was utter crap, not interested enough to rent the movie at SF's jtown for $3.

Biggest disappointment: NARUTO
My favorite series since it came out, I have lost interest in it altogether for the sins committed above. It was highly promising before the 3 year break. May consider returning to see Sasuke again. Though I never liked him very much.

General Anime Chat / Get Yer Ass in Air Gear!
April 25, 2006, 11:31:32 AM
Quote from: "Shinsengumi"
Quote from: "lyricaldanichan"Manga is going to be out here in the US in June by Del Rey. WHich apparenlty will NOT be censored like TenTen with CMX.

That's cool that there not going to censored it, I was pissed when they censored Tenjo Tenge.

As crazy as I thought Tenjou Tenge was when I bought the first book (a la Japanese), the censors in the English release were plain terrible.

I think there are too many series involving uniform-clad characters already, but this (Air Gear) looks cool. =^_^=

General Anime Chat / huh
April 24, 2006, 01:02:51 AM
this is old school stuff?
I guess Lupin III, Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, stuff that actually looks its age
Astro Boy, Speed Racer, Devilman; the real oldies!

I agree that Akira and Ghost in the Shell have become classics, even if they relatively aren't that old...

I can't believe Bebop would be considered Old School!!! Does the same go for Trigun? Although considering how many times it's been seen, I guess its getting there.

How bout Doraemon? haha ^_^

Dealers Room / heh
April 24, 2006, 12:35:08 AM
Anything you see from Japan is marked up. It's just a fact.

Definitely good to shop around before making any purchases that hurt. There's always the scheme of waiting till the last day when dealers might be willing to lower some digits on that price tag, but whether the item will wait so long for you is never easy to tell. If you absolutely cannot buy something online or anywhere else, then hey, its your cash.

So far, the best markdown I've seen is on boxed full series. I never found manga that was significantly cheaper. Any figurine goods can be anywhere from pretty cheap to pretty damn costly. As for clothes and bags, well, I'd never seen em anywhere else, so there went my $$. =_=

Gaming / all stars

Young Link, Mario, Yoshi, Captain Falcon

but on the N64 it's all about my boy Yoshi

That's... AWESOME.

Yeah I know a few people who would be interested in seeing this. Definitely you need some of the usual popular games. An anime twist would be cool. Too bad that, judging from this thread, it sounds like it's not guaranteed at the moment. Keep it up, and at least maybe next year you'll kick ass. XD

Panels and Workshops / Iron Chef Otaku
April 24, 2006, 12:07:31 AM
The chefs would be in cosplay, and follow the themes of their character backgrounds, all the while remaining in character? Reminds me of both Iron Chef (love it) and the spoof on SNL (double love). I guess someone would have to take on the burdens of the costs of food... and only people who can actually cook and not kill anyone would be able to compete. Mm some difficulties but man that would be awesome.

Video Programming / H
April 24, 2006, 12:02:56 AM
You can't always get what you want, so maybe just be there for the stuff you really like.

Cool devices? eh there was only one good ep in that bunch..
Bible Black was messed, too. Someone get me some hentai that actually stands up to live action porn!

And I agree with zoupzuop2. Twincest? What's fun about two characters that look exactly alike?! Now, when yuri came up, we were heading in the right direction.. ^_~ But the whole taboo thing isn't really necessary. Has incest ever constituted a good plot?

General Convention Discussion / the dance hall
April 23, 2006, 11:52:51 PM
yeah last year the dance room was already quite oversized
nothing wrong with a little shrinkage for proportion
although the air was stuffy already, wonder what a smaller room will be like?

you can keep your ex, I've got PEZ to keep me sugar hyped for the night!

Quote from: "red"I watched 7 or 8 episodes. It wasnt particularly funny, or exciting to watch... tell me, does it get better or just forget about it?

Granted I have a sense of humor, theres just a lot of better shows out there!

So really whats so great about Fruit Baskets?

To be serious and honest, it wasnt appealing to me at all. Too sensitive and mushy, and some of the plot made no sense to me. Maybe if I'd seen it a few years ago... nah, I wouldnt have understood it.

Wait, maybe that would have been better... XD

Quote from: "VictimX"Thats great I kinda don't want to eat eggs any more because they look so cute. What to do...? Eat or keep as pets?

hehheh

they're kinda like dogs: you can do either, but one makes other people feel slightly uncomfortable in your presence
