I know it's a long shot, but I'm gonna try for Sasori inside of Hiruko for 2009. It's probably going to be a very hard cosplay to do, but I have plenty of time to get it together.

In the Akatsuki group photos I was the Kakuzu that was off to the right side standing by the Hidan.

Within Fanime, at least, glomping and hugs are considered solicitation. You've seen it become increasingly problematic, so "soliciting" is as blunt as it was described-- offering services and/or goods in any fashion Fanime's organization doesn't approve of. It disturbs the public-- it's just for Fanime to try to intervene and do something about it.
I actually have a funny story involving being told by staff that I had to change my sign. The last day I bought a Cactuar plushie and decided to tape it to my badge and then tape a sign to my badge that said "Hug me, I grant wishes", so it looked like the sign was on the Cactuar. I came across a staff member who told me that I couldn't have "hug me" on the sign because it was solicitation. I told her "It's not on me, it's on the Cactuar", so she calls the main desk and tells them "we have a hug me sign but it's not on the person, it's on the cactus". One can only wonder what the main desk was wondering when she told them a cactus was wearing a "hug me" sign. I eventually had to change the sign, but she still wanted a hug after.

See, it's things like this that piss off staff members. You obviously knew that the con didn't allow the signs, so what did you do? Try to go around the rules(in a very unwitty way). Not to prove a point or anything, not to try an acomplish anything, just to be a douche.

Actually that was my first time at Fanime. I wasn't trying to be a douche, the sign was on the Cactuar. If I wanted to put a "hug me" sign on myself I would've from the beginning of Fanime. When she told me to change it, I did so with no problems. If I really wanted to be a douche I could've made a huge deal about it, but I didn't. Now I know what not to do when I go next year.

I'd be totally down for a Sacanime meetup. My friend and I are trying to get more Hellsing cosplayers to go this year because of Crispin Freeman; how awesome would that be to have a huge Hellsing group?

Crispin Freeman is the main reason I am going to Sacanime. It would be awesome to get a big group of Hellsing cosplayers, I would cosplay as a Hellsing character, but wouldn't know who to go as. A Tales of Symphonia group would be awesome too. People who have played that game should be familiar with Crispin Freeman's role in that.

OMGs!!
I am totally felling the PCDs all the way right now.
I mean all my friends are either in SJC or LA.
It makes me cry I miss everyone so much.
The part that makes me sad the most is that I have to leave everyone and go back to the mountian crack of califonia that is
Northern California.
I will try to look at the bright side I had a good time but I still have PCD.OK.*sob*
AAHHH!! But at least I got to see people that I havn't seen in two years that does make me happy.
For the most part I didnt see anyone that I did not like.
But I still miss every single one of you and I hope you all enjoyed your selves.

"mountian crack" good way to describe where I live in Northern California. Where in Northern California are you from?

ZOMG san jose at 3am is like grand theft auto...no joke.
Seriously, you're not kidding one bit. Our group went to Jack in the Box at about 1:30 AM or so Monday morning and we saw tons of police cars heading in one direction. We stopped to talk to one of the cops we saw while crossing the street and asked what happened and all he said was "A really big fight". It had to be a huge fight, down there street where he was standing there were lots of police cars and an ambulance.

I'm 30 minutes away from AX :P

Anyways.. yeah i'm depressed.

I'm a good 11 hours if we drive. 9 if we don't follow the speed limit and about 14 if we do like Fanime and take the Amtrak.

I just realized that AX is literally right around the corner. There is no way I can pay for another Fanime scale trip so soon after Fanime. Looks like I'll just be attending Sacanime. Our group hasn't figured out how many days we'll be there but we know we will at least be there for Saturday. Haven't decided if I'll cosplay to that one and what I will cosplay as if I go.

It hit me pretty hard last night, when I realized that there was no rave to be at until 4AM, and no friends left to giggle with until dawn. I actually had to get up and go to work today... and no one at work really "gets" the whole con thing, so I can't explode at them about it. Gotta keep it bottled up for another year.

Anyone going to AX or Sacanime this year? I'll be at Sacanime for sure, and still thinking about AX.

I'll be at Sacanime for sure on the Saturday. There's no way I won't be there, especially with Crispin Freeman being there. Plus it's only about 2 hours away. I would love to go to AX but I dunno if that one will happen.

I'm definitely feeling it. I was as soon as I went to the train station to go head back up where I live I was feeling it. I just wanted to stay at the con with my Cactuar holding a sign that said "Hug me, I grant wishes". I miss being able to wear that sign in public and not get any weird looks.

Big Event Showcase / Re: An Cafe concert tickets

If we manage to get tickets for the autograph session are we only allowed to get one autograph? We are most likely only allowed one, but I wanted to know because my brother had to cancel going to Fanime at the last minute due to getting sick and won't be able to get an autograph himself.

A Hellsing messenger bag, a pair of chain nunchakus, all three Hellsing OVA Dvds, some of those kunai.

That's another thing I'll be looking for is the Hellsing OVA DVDs, preferably dubbed since this is one of the rare cases where I like the dub more than the sub.

Do you absolutely have to print out the postcard to get your badge? I don't have a single printer in the house with ink at the moment and I'm probably not before Fanime. Are the postcards necessary to pick up your badge?

I'll be looking for a Hellsing messenger bag for myself and a Rinoa (FF VIII) plushie for a friend of mine, but other than that I'll pretty much be shopping by the spur of the moment. If I like it and I can afford it, I will probably buy it, lol.

Add me to the list please. I'll be cosplaying as Kakuzu (cloaked version), I've got most of it together, just waiting to get one more thing done. Looks like I'm the only one doing Kakuzu so far.

I'm looking to see if someone has an original (non Greatist Hits) Squaresoft copy of Final Fantasy 7 in good condition that I can buy. Been looking for it ever since I passed up a copy for 15 bucks at Gamestop.

Well hopefully they do, I am probably still going to go to the DMV and get a new ID and hope it comes by then.

Sorry about posting this in the wrong place. I should've looked around a bit better. Thanks for the responses everyone.

KyraEnsui: Thanks for the email, I'll go ahead and email them and ask about it.

Alright, so I noticed that my California state ID expires on my birthday next month, on the 9th and at this point even if I were to go get another ID it wouldn't come in the mail before Fanime. I've never been to Fanime before so I don't know the answer to my question. What I want to know is: Can I still pick up my badge with my California ID even though it will be outdated or will they not let me do that? Hopefully I can because it's the only picture ID I've got (no License yet) since I doubt even if I went to the DMV tomorrow and got a new ID it would be here in time.

Because I am so lame (and I've never been to No Cal) I'll be at the Ramada (19-22) for the first half then the Marriott (22-26) I may an extra day because...well I dont want to get up at 7am to go to the Train station to go back to So.Cal..plus I wanna have fun at the Black and White Ball...

Don't feel bad. My crew of people are staying at 3 different hotels. One each night we will be there, one night at the Crowne, one at the Marriot and one at the Hilton. We wanted to try to be in the convention center as much as possible which is why we didn't get all three nights at one of the ones surronding the convention center, but we weren't fortunate enough to get the Marriot or Hilton for consecutive days. I got the hotels pretty early too, not early enough I guess though. Something I'll remember for next year's Fanime. We're also taking the train there and back, but we're not making quite as far a trip as your are. We're just coming from about 2 hours North of Sacramento.

Hopefully I can find some UVERworld or Maximum the Hormone CDs, I've been looking to get them without having to pay the import costs.
