After I made your badge, you can do one of the following.
- Paypal me $1 and pick up your badge at Fanime
- Go to Fanime and pick up your badge for $1

$1 is for materials cost.

What I need from you:
-Your fan name (if it is different from your forum name)
-A high resolution picture of whatever you want.  Anything larger than 1200 resolution is fine.  600 is really pushing it.  Any less than that and you'll have a fuzzy badge.

Q. Why do this?
A. It's a fun way to uniquely identify Fanime Forum members, plus I've always liked having a custom badge rather than just something the con gives you.  After a couple years, it just became a tradition.

Q. What dimension/size do you need the pictures at?
A. As large as you can possibly get.  For the most part, I will resize and crop down to the proper size, but it's important that you get the highest resolution possible because upscaling does wonderfully bad things to most pictures.  As a general rule, try to get something bigger than 600 pixels across.

Q. What happens if you don't find a picture?
A. This is possibly the funnest/creepiest thing I do.  If I don't have a specific picture from you, I start researching your profile and previous posts to try to ascertain what kind of person you are and what picture you would like the most. >:3  It sounds totally creepy in that stalker-y kinda way, but I find it pretty fun figuring out things about people.

Q. How much am I charging?
A. Probably $1 for printing and laminating costs.  If you happen to work at a printing store and can do such things for free *nudge nudge wink wink*, the badge price will drop to $0.  These are just materials fees.  The largest cost is laminating.

Q. Who can get one?
A. Anyone at all.  Just make a post voicing your interest and make sure you're on the list maintained on the first page.

Q. How can I voice my interest?
A. You can either make a post in this thread, message my through the forum, or send me an email at email[at]suspi.net

Q. Where can we pick it up?
A. Oh god, this has been a mess every year.  We'll figure out a better system this year.  I'm thinking about doing badge runs in batches and offer the option of mailing them to people.

Before I choose my picture, I'd like to confirm a couple of examples.
Would 520x800 be a good size?
Would 800x450 be a bad size?
I'm just asking.

This sounds like fun. Count me in. I also think I will allow picture selection to be done by the OP, unless I happen to find something on my own first.  :)

The badges will most likely be vertical.. so a 800x450 image would be be cropped down to 330x450 which will be all sorts of fugly when it's printed.

Wow, that's an amazing picture.  The art looks very Sandman-esce.

I can see the resemblance. The art's by J.H. Williams, from the comic Desolation Jones written by Warren Ellis. All of the art is absolutely stunning, and he does some amazing things with the page layouts and borders.

Larger vertically.  It should be roughly the same size as the standard Fanime badges.

If you can't find an image, I'll do a little snooping around and try to figure out an image you would like.  This is mainly for people who drop out of contact with me, and I really need to get the printing done.  So be sure to get what you want and get your image to me in time.

Tsubasa just finished the design, so I'll get the first batch done and give you all a preview for this year.

Last year you payed when you went to get the Badge.

Paypal is only for people who would want me to mail them their badge early.  Otherwise, they can be picked up during the con.

This badge is just a way for forum members to identify themselves and have a personal keepsake from the con, it is not an official badge, and does not replace what you will get from registration. you can choose to wear the forum badge, or not. you do not get to choose if you'll wear the required official badge.

I dont believe the mail option will be available this late, as most people wouldnt recieve their badges before the con. Suspicious recently posted a map of artist alley showing where he wil be with the badges, he's sharing a table with Slightly Damned, and is waiting for fanime to release a schedule before posting when people can go and pick them up. if your picture doesnt have a background, it'll probably end up with a white background.

I'm not sure if some of you realize this, but Suspi usually has a cutoff date to when he stops taking submissions for forum badges, since he also has to prepare for the convention as well.

maybe a movie or a mall gathering would be a great idea. just like in the old school days of the fanime forum gatherings.

maybe we should plan some ideas and basically shower suspi with moneys and everyone wear their badges so we can all pose for like a huge group picture of fanime forum peeps.

That's a good idea. Transformers anyone? and those people that live in Hayward, they could come down with me too. Let the old school gatherings commence once again lol

This idea.. it is a good one. also, if people are willing to hit transformers in hayward after opening weekend, i can get a few free tickets, but only like 3 or 4..

Suspi, thanks for the badge! I'm sorry I finished lunch on Saturday and went to Artist Alley too late to see everybody. I think I spent too much time hiding to see many people from the Boards, but I did get to hang out with Chloe for a little while.

He was a lot easier to find once I found a computer. I totally forgot where it was at, but as soon as I checked out the map that was left on the forums I found it really quick.

I asked Kazuko where the badges were but I kinda forgot what she said and I didn't know what Suspi looks like, so~ haha.... ^^;;

The only thing that made it hard for me to find Suspi was because I misread the Map. The first booths I went to which I thought was were we were supposed to pick up was actually behind the appropriate stand, after wandering and seeing others gather on the other side getting there FBs, I quickly figured this out.

Sucrose and I had to hunt the booth down by asking people who had already gotten their badges (because we couldn't make the assigned time) and even with explicit directions, it was a little awkward just seeing a booth full of Super Mario pins. I remember the year before, the booth that the badges were at had put up a little "We have Fanime Forum Badges here!!" sign, and I think that same sort of thing would have been quite helpful.

All that said, after some tracking we got our badges and love them! Thank you, Suspi, and sorry for making you trek them back to us.

Hmmm you'd think the badge would be here by now since you mailed them on the 30th.. but I STILL haven't received mine yet >.< I hope it comes today or tomorrow, but I can't imagine it taking THIS long. I've been having bad luck lately with the post office. I really hope it's not lost >.<

I haven't gotten mine either, Kimiko. I know Suspi is a good guy, so I am sure if anything happens he'd get on it. So I am just chillin'.

So.. I'm retarded XD  I underpaid for postage for all of them because I used some older stamps.  I resent them out today.
