I know it's probably early but has anyone gotten their waitlist hotel approved yet?

I'm looking for a glimmer of hope that mine will be soon. ^^;

I hate to say this and it may be a bit harsh but I feel like Clockwork Alchemy is a leech upon Fanime. I'm sure that others feel this way as well.

Clockwork may have their own staff but they are taking up some hotel rooms and making the registration lines even worse. I'm sure there are people who ONLY go to that con and they must feel the same way about Fanime. It's unfair to both cons. Fanime had Memorial weekend first. Make Clockwork Alchemy take another weekend.

um... you DO realize that Clockwork Alchemy has their own registration lines right? AND you can get your badge at Clockwork Alchemy even if you are only going for Fanime. Just saying'

Another advantage of Clockwork Alchemy is that the evening dances at Fanime had started to get extremely crowded and they have to make people wait in line to get in. Clockwork Alchemy added more evening entertainment to help alleviate some of this over crowding. My friends have been quite pleased with Emperor Norton's Ball these past two years, to the point that we don't even go to Fanime's Black and White Ball anymore. Also there was a point where 3-4 tables in the Dealer's Room where dedicated to steampunk, this might not sound like a lot but I'm sure they have been turning down many more and it was reducing the number of anime venders that could sell at Fanime. Now they have somewhere more appropriate to go freeing up space at Fanime.

I hope they do. I've never been aware of that fact. It seems in the past they just combined it all into one badge pickup area. I hope more people use the Clockwork area to pick up badges this year.

I still think to be fair to both cons that Fanime should remain Memorial weekend and Clockwork needs to be moved to a different time. If they did then maybe they could make Clockwork into a bigger con for their fans.

I'm a Fanime Con attendee since 2003 and I come all the way from Indiana. I love Fanime but honestly it's a good thing I come first and foremost to see my partner. If it wasn't for her, I would be looking for another convention to go to.

Can someone who knows ANYTHING actually say something on this matter of the website. It's really pathetic. I'm sure that there is some info that can be released. If not then Fanime Con is in big trouble. This isn't a matter of staffing this is the department heads who hold this information.

I don't mean to sound negative but I spend hundreds of dollars just getting there and while it really is just to see my partner, I would enjoy the trip even more if Fanime Con would be worthwhile too.

General Convention Discussion / Fanime Con 2014 Website
February 24, 2014, 01:17:35 PM
Is there anyone that can say when the website will be running with more information? It's almost March and there is nothing on the site. Every year the site is getting neglected more and more. At this point they should close the site and just use their Facebook.

I personally like the website and think it's more professional to have it.

General Convention Discussion / Re: Day 0: Worth It?
February 12, 2014, 08:08:54 AM
I think it's worth it. I'm going to San Francisco that day. Coming from Indiana, I always have to visit there and we like to get it out of the way this year. I hope to be back in time to get my badge and check out the swap meet before getting much needed sleep in preparation for cosplay.  :)

Dealers Room / Re: What do you want to see?

I hope there are plenty of vendors who have some of the new Sailor Moon merchandise.

While it is fun to cosplay it is definitely not a requirement to have fun at a convention. I usually have at least one day or 1/2 a day that I don't cosplay and I still have a great time. Sometimes it's even easier and better because it can be pretty tricky to walk around in a crowded con.

Registration / Re: Badge Pick Up Line
February 12, 2014, 07:45:47 AM
I hope it gets fixed this year. I fly in from Indiana that day so I'm already exhausted and that line last year was a nightmare. We were in line for 8 hours and then I had leg pain all throughout the con because of a medical condition. I even saw someone had to be taken away by ambulance.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Complaints for housing
February 12, 2014, 07:43:01 AM
This Fanime housing situation gets worse every year. I have a room but it's a waitlist situation. I come all the way from Indiana and it's kind of scary for me because if I don't get a room then I'm sorta homeless. I wish some people who live close to the hotel would save their money and stay home during the time they aren't at con.

I understand that people want to stay at the con and have a room so they can enjoy the con more but please think about the people who travel from out of state.

Makes you wonder if this is Fanime's way of saying "Beach balls are a great way to keep yourself entertained while waiting in another 6 hour registration line."  ;)

LOL! This is probably true.   ;D

I'm 25 years old. I don't think it matters what age you are. People of all ages enjoy anime and the wonder that is Japanese culture.
