So, if we wish to run a little longer, we should run it by you? How much longer would you allow?

Usako makes a good point. Requests for specific times are usually not given, but in the past, from my experience, you can say around what order you wish to go. For example, "I want to go in the begining, middle, or end", but saying "I want to go 11th!" Would be a bit tricky.
ALSO: IF YOU HAVE A MINOR IN YOUR GROUP (under 16), they will put you closer to the beginning. This is from my person experience, as my brother was in my last skit.

UPDATE: Someone announced in this Forum that the Cosplay spectacular sign ups will be the 29th of March.
Its under the Forum Cosplay Masquerade 2014 Registration Info:

The theme this year I believe is "Fun in the Sun", So I assume, beach themed, summer themed, picnics, warmer weather, cold drinks, ect.

You don't have to do a group, it can be a solo act.

And the deadline for the applications is usually up until a week before the performances. Its posted sometime in early April. Some people even sign up at the convention, though I DO NOT suggest this. There will be no guarantee they will take sign ups at the convention, but it had usually always been an option if there was room.

The TOTAL time is 2:30. This does not include a 30 second set up and set down before and after the performance. This ensures that the Cosplay spectacular isn't too long, though on occasion an exception is made. But to answer your question, I believe its 2:30 total. I would suggest finding a clip, or editing one to around a minute or so, and save the rest of the time to show off your costume or performance.

I believe Marissa has retired for a little bit. She was the head in 2012. I'm not even sure who the head was last year. I've heard nothing concrete as of yet. It's all speculation.

Hello Everyone~!

I wanted to create a thread where entrants for the 2014 Cosplay Spectacular can talk to each other, and share their thoughts on the upcoming event.

What can we expect this year?
Is anyone planning on using the theme to your group's advantage?
What awards are you aiming for?
How much duct tape should you bring backstage in case something goes wrong?!

Feel free to share your thoughts, experiences, horror stories, ect~!

They have a few announcements twards the end of march, and the signups will be in the beginning of April. I believe last years was on the 3rd. No need to panic over the date. I've been in the past three years, and though many of the groups sign up on the first date the registration is open, it doesn't fill up for a few weeks. People drop out, things happen, ect. After the first 50 spots are taken, there will be a waitlist. I was #17 on a waitlist two years ago, and still got to perform. So, no worries, though I suggest signing up the day it opens. Just check the site for announcements every other day.

There have been some very successful skits that have used videos. One from last year, or it might have been a few years ago, a pink Gundam fighter used a video as it posed. When watching the youtube videos online, the filmmakers usually focus on the audio and the characters on stage. The screens where the videos would be shown are above the stage, so they don't film it.

I wouldn't rely heavily on the tech people to time the intro and exit of the video. They won't switch back and forth from the video to the stage often, so I would suggest finding a video, and either have it play while you have your skit going on, or play it, then have your skit. The time limit is usualy only 2 minutes and 30 seconds though, so time accordingly.

Hi~!

I was in the cosplay spectacular last year, the Nintendo Burlesque, as well as the past two years.
Though I believe it will be on Sunday, as it has been the past few years, its the time that my not be the same. Every year (besides last year) the call time for the show has been 5:00, with the show starting at 7:00. Last year, however, the call time was 3:00. That threw a wrench in my plans... I also feel that the band was on the unnecessary side. It all depends on if they want to have another band this year. Just be prepared to give your entire Sunday to this Cosplay Spectacular, and my group and I will see you there.
