Yah..  I hope you make it to the Lolita picnic gathering.  The gathering will be big this year.  Not only that, you can stop by and have some food.  XD!

What day & time is that?  I'll have a copy/copies of the Gatherings List with me, and depending on what other gatherings are happening during/around that time, I'll stop by.  Food will be nice since I don't know when I'll be able to take a snack-break during each day, so thanks in-advance for offering snacks.  :)

See you at Fanime XD!   ;D

Me and my honey will be there.  It's either DMC3 or DMC4 for the two of us.  Lady and Dante from either one.  We'll see when things get closer.

And I'll pass on the pizza.  I become very ill when I digest, eggs, nuts, and dairy products along with some kind of chili preservative.

Put me down for Sunday 1:30pm- 2:00pm.  I'll just be done with the lolita gathering.  It'll work out perfectly.

Last time my guy and I brought guns like those to Fanime, we were asked to put them in our room.  Not even given the option to peace bond them to our costumes.

Be weary of the retarded weapons policy.

To let u guys know.  Signs are officially not banned at fanime.  From what I read on that thread.

I'm tempted to beat somebody with a sign if I see one.  However, I think it's best to let security/con-ops handle the issue.

I want to join but there is a question:

I am having trouble because I can't afford a hotel room but I don't want to bring two cosplay outfits.

I'm getting my Lolita Baby Doll Pinky Princess Dress in the main soon but then I realized when the picnic was. It's the same day I'm doing Esther from Trinity Blood. Is it okay if I wear this: http://213.232.249.187:8080/forumpics/13-11-06_111303.jpg ?

The link doesn't seem to work.  I wanna see the picture.

I went like 2 years ago for my birfday, its a pretty awesome Con...

but im still stuck at Cirque Du Soleil....  :P

I'm definately looking into Comic-Con the mother of ALL cons.

Enjoy ur time there this weekend. and dont forget your pics!

w00t!

Same here.  No wonder-con for me.  I'll be at Comic-con for sure.  Hotel rooms are all sold out practically for Comic-con.  Good luck getting anything.  What can I say..  As soon as the Comic-con website is up and announces hotel rooms, they sell out within a few hours.

I know that about the hug/glomp thing. I going off topic but do you it ok to bring a sign for the con. It parted my costume the sign will said  " Were is furher Vic Mignogna ?" on one side of the sign and the other side would said  "Have seen this guy? He about 5'10 and have blonde hair with hazel eye." with picture of the voice actor picture.

no

Much agreed..  Just as bad as hug me/glomp me signs.

That's right folks I'm doing photo shoots again this year since I had such a blast doing it last year!  Once again the shoots will be free (considering that I still consider myself an amateur photographer).  I might create a photo book like I did last year.  Hopefully I will have an even better camera this year too.

This thread is mainly just to judge interest right now so I have an idea on how much time I should set aside for shoots.  I am currently planning to set aside perhaps 5 hours on Friday Saturday and Sunday exclusively for photography.  Shoots would be 30 minutes long giving time for 30 shoots on the main days of the con (I will also probably be available for a small number of shoots on Thursday and Monday).

So what do you get out of it?  You get copies of all of the photos I take in their original unaltered state (no watermarks or borders or photoshoping, just copies of the files directly from my camera.  You are free to do as you please with these photos (although I do request that you contact me if you wish to publish the photos).

However (hey you knew there had to be a catch right?) I will maintain copyright and publishing rights to the photos.  What does that mean?  It means if I want to publish the photos for profit in future I will have the right to do so (although I will contact you and obtain permission if I do).

But how do you know if I take good pictures?  Good question.  Here are samples of my work from last year:

More examples can be seen here.

I also made a photobook using my cosplay photography for my photography class at UCSC last year.  It can be seen here.

Are you interested in a free photoshoot?  Then post here and let me know!  If the response is especially good I will reserve more time for extra shoots.  Once again this is just an interest thread currently not a time slot reservation thread (that will happen closer to the con).

Hmm..  Sounds interesting.  I'm debuting a new lolita costume at the con and am looking to have some good photos of it taken.  However, the costume can be worn in 5 different ways.  If you have any questions, please PM me.  I don't want to reveal the costume yet.

There is a possibility of me going.  We'll see how far I get in both my thesis papers..  I can probably swing by for a few good hours of fun.   :)

A few years ago, a good friend of mine cosplayed something skimpy.  Her boyfriend warned her, that because of her weight, someone would probably make fun of her or say something bad.  Well..  it happened.  He warned her.  I warned her.  As much as she loved the character, it wasn't worth it.  She was unhappy the entire con.  Dress responsibly is all I can say.

I'm a thin person, but I'm also older.  I'm starting to realize what is appropriate in dressing when it comes to cosplay.  I don't see it appropriate for someone to see, my ol' wrinkled rear.

Shouldn't this topic be closed since signs are banned and there is already a thread about their ban?

Much agreed..

don't get me wrong and not glomp, most con-goers (other than jun-chin) are really friendly, and love human contact and making new friends, just remember to ask if they don't ask you first ;)

Uh, sorry to break it to your girlfriend but... I'm not the only one not supporting idiotic behavior. If you need to randomly hug strangers to make friends, that's fine by me as long as THEY'RE okay with it; do it amongst yourselves. Just leave the other con-goers out of it. I don't need hyperactive teens (or creepy adults) running up to me to touch me and break my crap. As for signs, what are they really for... other than drawing attention to yourself to give an excuse to convince yourself that you're loved... by, uh, strangers.

But in general... I don't mind being glomped, to be honest... BY PEOPLE I KNOW. o_0

Creepy adults..  Yeah.. Next thing you know you have a bunch of creepy stalkers and harassment issues.    Then you have to get security and more problems occur.

Much agreed with Jun, glomping is nice between friends..

If such a plague does break out like wildfire at Fanime, i suggest a meeting at the fountains to write up a petition for "Ban of mass produced and handed out hug/glomp me signs"

XD

*nods*  I totally agree.  I'd sign.

No, not going..  No one day badges.  The con is small and hasn't been the same since they changed the name from Overdose.

It's bad enough that people make their own "Hug Me" signs, but what's really sick is when people mass-produce "Hug Me" signs and then give them out to the public to wear & display.  At Sac-Con back in December, this dealer, selling the card/board game called "Ryvah" was having their booth-girls pass out FREE "Hug Me" signs, and the attendees were wearing them with their costumes or normal clothes.  Here's an example:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/8145334@N06/2099647431/in/set-72157603417752228/

It's one thing to see a couple of people wear those signs, but to see LOTS of them walking around with those signs in one area, it's just wrong.  And I recall seeing one kid take about 20 of those freebie-signs and tape them all over himself.   :P

If this Ryvah dealer does the same thing at Fanime (so far they only tend to stay at the Sac-Cons) I hope Fanime staff does something to not let them distribute these signs else Fanime will be crawling with them..   >:(

Agreed.  I'm tired of seeing them signs myself.
