Dealers Room / manga?
May 21, 2006, 11:29:36 PM
If you think there is an item in short supply that you want, you should buy it right away when you find it.

While there may be great deals to be had late in the convention, remember that most dealers are isolated from their suppliers/warehouses during the convention, so what is in their booth may be all they have for the duration. Once it's gone, it's GONE!

Dealers Room / Idea: 24/4 Convenience Store
May 21, 2006, 11:23:41 PM
There's always been a list and map of dining establishments in the convention program book. One would hope it would include nearby convenience stores too.

But remember, if you're staying at a hotel, you can always ask for extras of basic things like soap and shampoo (things normally stocked in the room) at the front desk.

Ideas and Suggestions / Chair

Quote from: "frumpy"I heard from a reliable source of mine....it started at AX sometime after 1997, but before 2000....I'm still trying to clearify exactly which year it had happened though...97,98, or 99...?? :? It happened either at the same year as Fanime, or the year before.
Trust me dear, it's not that old. It started here in 99, after Mike Wright told the audience about the rock at ComicCon. He was the chair-man at the time, after all.

Ideas and Suggestions / Chair

Quote from: "Shin Gouki"ok all you noobs the chair is a ripoff os the AX 99 cos play where someone left a rock prop on stage for the hole show and the something (but with a chair) happen in Fanime 2k1 that's how it got started  ^_^
You've got three stories all mixed up here. The chair business originated at the masquerade (as it was still called then) at FanimeCon 1999, when the convention was at the Wyndham hotel in San Jose, but that event was held in the theater in the Santa Clara Convention Center.

General Anime Chat / Re: HA!

Quote from: "bunny"what the hell is sera myu anyways? i've always wondered about that @_@;;;

"Sera Myu" refers to the series of musical theater productions based on the Sailor Moon stories and characters (the Japanese love to use strange contractions). I hear there's a bunch of them.

Sailor Moon is not the only anime to have a musical theater treatment. Apparently there is a long tradition of turning popular animation into stage productions in Japan, though the idea has only caught on in this country in the last decade with Disney's productions of "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King".
