Marriot
Hilton
Hyatt
Saint Claire
Fairmont

Every year, my friends and I plan to get a hotel room and have a famine hotel party. Unfortunately, We can never get a hotel room in time at one of these locations. I would like to offer you a chance to meet new people, socialize, and have a good time. All you have to do is provide your hotel room. We will provide the drinks, the snacks, and the music. It's nothing too big, just a Bluetooth stereo. You can invite whoever you want; we just need to know how many people are coming.  You can meet me prior to agreeing to anything. Please let me know by the end of Wednesday May 21th, 2014. Please message me. Don't miss a chance to getting to know kind new people who share the same passion.

I really like the idea. I have always been a fan of Grimm's fairy tales. There was always darkness in truth.

This is to the Dark Night Batman that was at the Sunday night's dance. We pulled you into our circle to dance with us because you're the DARK KNIGHT. We're sorry if you got in trouble with your girlfriend because you were dancing with us. Well, it looked like she was yelling at you because you had to leave. :(

I've been coming to the con for 5 years and I still get depression mode. Fanime 2012 went really quick for me this year. I don't want to go back into the dramatic world. I want to stay with Fanime.

Hey Sax man
You were amazing and I hope to see you again at Fanime 2013. You really touched me and my friends.

This shout out is going to all the 10th doctors from Doctor Who Cosplayers. You guys were freakin sexy. Especially the 10th doctor that was eating ice cream/ yogurt who waved at me when my friend honked the horn to get your attention for me. :D I was in the blue car.
I think yogurt/Ice Cream 10th Doctor was also the same one walking in the dealer's hall with Captain Jack Harkness. You rock that cute face!

I think the pink bubble was attached to a roomba. Really clever.

They didn't bother me either. I just ignored them. I would recommend everyone do the same. When we give them attention of any sort, it gives them power. When we ignore them and not let them affect us, they lose the power.

Dealers Room / Re: GRAB BAGS

Aww...I've never seem to be able to get anything good in a grab bag; maybe once from Lokisa. We once got a grab bag from one of the Manga vendors and everyone of them were either in Japanese or Chinese Characters.  :(. Worst part, they were Mangas I've never heard of.

General Convention Discussion / Re: Yoshiki

Thank you for clearing this up, Tony. I am really grateful that he was able to come and visit us. I would have been happy even if he did a web cam thing with us. I was just really disappointed about "the game". My family and I waited for 4 hours to get a good seat (we did, YAY) and be first to get his autograph. I fell in love with X Japan 12 years ago, during a very hard time of my life, and it was Xjapan's and Yoshiki's music that help me through it. For me to get an autograph was like getting a validation that it was real and that I lived thought the hardest time of my life. I think thats why I felt so sad when we had to play "the game" to win his autograph. I knew I would lose and I did.   :'(
Again, looking at what Fanime had to do, Thank you for tending to Yoshiki. I really hope he could come again.  :)

General Convention Discussion / Re: Yoshiki

That is so messed up of Fanime to not notify us. I didn't even know he was still at Fanime. I went up stairs to change for dinner, if I knew he would be going to stage Zero, I would have stayed and tried to win. In some ways, I guess I was lucky to have made Reservations at Arcadia around 2pm that day for 8pm. But Damn, that sucks. I love Yoshiki's talents and his personality.

Well, I live in the Bay Area and my Husband and I are going to SAC-CON on June 5th. It's a one day event. Be our first time, it's a small convention.

I loved this event! There were some problems...

Why did Press get to take up the first two rows when some girls had been waiting 10 hours or so just to secure those spots? They ended up in the third row! I thought that was somewhat disrespectful to the fans.

I understand that the autographs were limited, and I am so grateful to Yoshiki for staying as long as he could, even while not feeling so hot, but rock paper scissors made it really hard to handle. It put people in the position of.... if you're honest you lose, if you're dishonest you win. I didn't get an autograph because I was honest, while some people who weren't upfront about it got to get the autograph, which I would have killed for. I love this man. I'd been waiting since I was 13 years old to get to see him! So yes, I would have DIED for an autograph, but out of personal respect to Yoshiki I opted to not be a jerk about it, while others were lying about their win and got rewarded.

It also destroys me knowing some of those people didn't have anything they even wanted signed or even knew who he was.

But all that aside, it was wonderful. Yoshiki's efforts to make us a video with the Buddha footage  were wonderful and appreciated. He was so nice to come.

I really, truly appreciate everyone who made this happen, especially Yoshiki himself. It was wonderful and memorable and I can't say enough about it.

We just need to ask Yoshiki back next year so I can ask him a question and get an autograph. I'll gladly wait another day in line!!

As he said "Well, it isn't that far."

I definitely agree with you about the people who didn't have anything to sign, there were girls in the winning line that had wanted to have Yoshiki sign like the back of their weekend badge (yellow paper) or on their Fanime books.

Like I was saying before, I've been a fan of Yoshiki's talents since I was 15 (12 years ago) and it is a dream come true to see him especially because I believed that I would never meet him. My loving family sat in line with me for 4 hours missing gathering, shopping, and even eating. I was looking forward to an autograph (Which I super appreciate Yoshiki) and when they said we had to RO sham bo for his autograph, I knew I was going to lose and I did. I sat down and felt so defeated. I'm happy to say that I did have a great spot and I was able to record him.

Another wonderful thing that happened was that I made reservations at Arcadia for 8pm the same day. My husband and I noticed a large table and he urged me to look because he thinks he sees Yoshiki and by golly he was right! Yoshiki was having dinner with some other big wigs from Fanime. I freaked. My husband and facebook friends kept saying "go over and ask for a picture with him. Once in a lifetime." But I didn't because I made a promise that I would never bother a celebrity when they are having dinner or out. respect personal space. I didn't bother him, instead my husband asked the hostess to order a drink for Yoshiki as a gift. Sadly, because of language confusion the drink gift could not be given.  :(
I a few got more glimpses of Yoshiki as I pretended to go to the bathroom. It was a wonderful coincidence. A day I will not forget.

The things I noticed was how there were a lot more people(like double last year) at the con and that most con goers were more irritated, snappy, and insulting.
I've always known Fanime to be a friendly convention unlike the Big convention, Anime Expo. I was really disappointed when a girl walking behind me bluntly said "Why are b**ches calling me ...." because they thought she was a different Character. People have named cosplayers wrong before and they never get mean about it. I remember thinking "mean people should not be a Fanime."
I was also on an Elevator where a person got upset because someone from the 5th floor was going down. Quote "people who are on the 5th floor should just take the stairs."
Another, My friend fell against the buttons on the elevator hitting 5 floors and the people in the elevator started yelling at her. She even apologized but that didn't help. They should be mad at is the guy that hit a lot of buttons and ran out of the Elevator rather then the girl that got tired and fell upon it.
I have never heard or experience this when I attended previous Fanime con.
Lets keep Fanime a friendly convention. Thats why I love going here.

I don't know about the best, but me and my friends are going to try a BBQ/Steakhouse place we saw on Man Vs. Food. I forget the name, but its prob on their website somewhere, it looked good.

Last time I was their, I had sushi, but I don't exactly remember where, we walked north of the Fairmont and kind of found it.

I think it's "Henry's high-life." I've eaten there and it's really good.

Last year my suitcase was nicknamed "The House" due to its massive size. Example: "We'll be okay for food. After all, she brought her entire house, there's gotta be a kitchen in there." Oh, and one time it was early-ish and I needed something out of my suitcase, but someone had turned it on its side and was sleeping on the floor right next to it, so I had to lift it and put it on the bed without disturbing anyone. But it was heavy and slipped. I caught it right before it smashed the dude's face. o___o;

...This year I'm hoping to downgrade the amount I pack. xD;;

I've been mostly packed since the end of March, actually. </DEDICATION> See, I'm away in college in Oregon, and all of my cosplay stuff/the majority of what I need for Fanime is at home. Knowing I wouldn't be home again until Day Zero, I made sure I packed the bulk of my stuff during Spring Break. Otherwise I would've only had a few hours to pack and go food shopping before my group left for San Jose; additionally, due to my flight home being at 5:20 am, I'm obviously going to be dead tired and am prone to forgetfulness even when I'm NOT tired, so it wouldn't be the best day for me to frantically pack. xD

I'll probably packing the rest of my stuff that I'm flying home with this weekend. I need to pack my hot pot (for cooking ramen and mac and cheese!) as well as various food (only things I can take on the plane and won't get crushed/destroyed of course; I'm only bringing a carry on) some spare non-cosplay clothes that I don't already have at home, my cosmetics bag with my makeup/contacts/toothbrush/etc, pajamas, basic stuff. I wonder if airport security will question why I have a hot pot... >3>;

That would've really sucked if you hit that dude in the face >.<

I thought about bringing some sort of food with me, or some kind of cooking device (similar to the hotpot) but then that's more to pack and I'm also lazy XD. If I bring anything, it will non-perishable so I can easily store it in my hotel room without an ice chest.

In general I just kind of throw everything I THINK I need into my suitcase. The big one.

That is why I pack so much stuff XD  I know I will leave something at home cause I think I don't need it, I will end up needing it, and then I'll be pissed the whole weekend that I left it at home.

The most hotel rooms do not provide a microwave or a fridge but they generally provided a coffee maker which you can use to get hot water. I'm bring cheap dry food such as cup-of-noodles and "just add water" soups. It's not the best diet, but it'll do for Fanime.
