Bandai Entertainment ANNOUNCES HARUHI LAUNCH EVENT FOR LOS ANGELES FANS; MEET THE ASOS BRIGADE IN PERSON!

May 3, 2007 (Cypress, Ca) â€" Bandai Entertainment, INC. and Kadokawa Pictures USA announced today that a special event to celebrate the release of the first volume of the English language version of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya will take place on the release date of May 29th in Los Angeles at the special collectors shop Anime Jungle starting at 7pm.

On sale at the launch event will be copies of the regular and special limited edition art box DVDs as well as the first CD “Hare Hare Yukai.” Also, attendees to the event will get a FREE theatrical sized Haruhi poster, which they can get signed by the members of the ASOS Brigade: Paddy (Haruhi), Haruka (Mikuru), and Kana (Yuki) (see www.asosbrigade.com) who will make their first ever U.S. appearance to celebrate the release of Haruhi in North America.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime series is nothing short of a phenomenon in Japan and tells and is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of 2007.

“We have been building toward this moment and it's finally here,” said Bandai Entertainment, INC. President Ken Iyadomi. “This will be a great event for Los Angeles fans, please come to Anime Jungle as Haruhi invades the U.S.”

Howcome Bandai hasn't contacted Fanime about doing something like this, seeing that Fanime is the closest to the release date (May 29th)?

Since this is such a huge release, chances are that Fanime won't be able to arrange it to be moved up or have an exclusive release party.

So, we'll just have to wait until the tuesday after Fanime. >_<
