Quote from: "Acid_Android"Sounds like it'll be a bunch of indies bands this year

I agree! And for some reason, I have this feeling that it'll really be concentrated on J-rock, particularly some VK.... or maybe not.

Oh my gosh, if only I could attend! My parents would never let me go, especially because it's so late... curses.

And that it's 18+.

Ideas and Suggestions / Guests I Want For FanimeCon 2006
November 03, 2005, 08:29:24 PM
For anyone that is interested trying to get UVERworld to come:

Would you give messages to your US fans?
Takuya: I will master English and go to the US to perform live, so please come and see us.
from http://tofurecords.com

I freaked out.  Seriously.

<3 Tofu Records, thank you for being the medium.

On another note, I think it'd be great if Ramen and Rice could return and perform once again!  My friends and I really, REALLY enjoyed their performance.  They're simply amazing, and so kind as well.

Off-topic: I apologize if this might be inappropriate, but I'm curious as to why Fred Gallagher does not want to come back.  Was there any sort of mishap?  No worries if this question cannot be answered, but it has been sort of irking me a bit as I read the thread because I have no idea.

The chance of AKFG coming over to the US is probably fairly good, but it would be a lot greater if people buy their domestic releases through Tofu Records to actually show that people want them here. They're a really popular band, and so if their label is going to invest money into bringing them over, there needs to be solid evidence in CD sales in the states to show that there will be support.

But as for them coming to MusicFest, I'm not so optimistic. Because AKFG is pretty damn popular, I really see AKFG playing somewhere like Otakon because they'll be gauranteed an audience of at least 10,000. Unless there's somehow a venue in San Jose within walking distance from the convention center that can hold much more than 3,000 folks for MusicFest (or an orderly shuttle service thing that can escort lots of people to said venue), I don't really know if their record label will be willing to spend the money to send them to Fanime to play for a relatively small crowd if they can go somewhere else where they'll have 10,000 come see them. In the end, it all comes down to money and who'll be willing to foot the bill for a band like AKFG. I would absolutely LOVE it if they could come to Fanime though, but because of how popular they are, I'm not sure if their record label would make that financial risk for MusicFest. They'd probably focus on Otakon or AX. In the end, whoever has the money will make the choices.

That said and done,  I still hope they come and play for MusicFest LOL :) It's just the logical part of my brain isn't too optimistic. And I think too much of why they wouldn't come so I don't get disappointed LOL.

UVERworld is awesome :) I like the stuff that I've heard from them so far, and yes, Takuya is a pretty good looking vocalist. He's really got an amazing voice. However, they are a relatively new band in the mainstream, and I can imagine them trying to establish not only a solid fanbase within Japan first, but also a distinctive sound that can separate them from everyone else. I mean, they've only really got one single out, and their 2nd single isn't out for another 3 weeks. But I agree that It definitely would be awesome if we could get them come for MusicFest! From their tv appearances, they seem like a band that'll be fun to watch as well as hear.

Has anyone suggested HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR yet? I think they'd be cool to see too LOL. They're also relatively new in the mainstream, and could probably be in the same position as UVERworld as far as establishing themselves, but they've got a lot more material out xD

You're right--and that goes for many of the musical guests mentioned here as well, doesn't it?  As much as we'd love to see them at MusicFest, statistics and money and all that stuff matters... which is an unfortunate matter.  But hopefully we'll be very lucky!

Yes, I'm glad I found someone who agrees!  Takuya is one talented singer--not to mention, the rest of the band is extremely talented as well.  Judging from their PVs and live performances, they're into their music when they play, which definitely makes a great stage presence!  It'd be great if they could come.  HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR sounds like a good candidate as well.

I think there's a fairly good chance of AKFG coming over, isn't there?  I remember the Tofu Records panel lady mentioning that they asked if AKFG would be interested in coming over to the US, and I think they were just... in awe, I guess?  Or at least, that's what I think she said.

Nonetheless, it'd psych me out if they performed here.  I'm still strong on inviting UVERworld... their recent single is awesome.  Though I know that those that haven't heard of UVERworld before and see them at MusicFest (that is, if they come and perform)--especially girls--will be quite taken.

('Cause ya know, I sure am.  I mean the vocalist, really... -melts-)

I don't think anyone suggested them yet, and I started a thread in Live Programming because I didn't find this one, so--

How about UVERworld, the band that did the 2nd opening theme for BLEACH? I personally think they're very awesome, and have so much potential. They're such a new band, and I think that if invited, there's a big chance that they'd come.

I haven't seen a thread on this (unless I missed it), so I'll be the one to start.

Who are you all interested in seeing at Fanime, and actually have a chance of showing up/performing? (Sorry to break it to some of you, but Malice Mizer already disbanded years ago. And Gackt would be nice, but I highly doubt he'll come to an anime con. He's too renowned for an anime con, he'll probably want his own concert someplace big...)

After seeing ZZ perform, I think a possibility is UVERworld, the band that did one of the opening themes for the anime BLEACH. They're a really new band, and they're not like L'Arc~en~Ciel or a few other bands with a very big name that lowers the possibility of them becoming guests. Although they are new, they're very talented. Their very first single, which is all that's out at the moment, is great and showcases a lot of future talent.

Hopefully, there a chance that the Fanime staff will try and get them to perform next year! They're a really awesome band, and I believe they'll be great guests to have.
