Ok so from what I've heard, there was no gathering dedicated for Vampire Knight, so I guess I'll Start one~ Please let me know if you will be attending. The time and place have not yet to be decided but we should try to figure out a timeslot thats available for everyone. I was thinking of a Saturday Evening gathering, roughly when the sun would be kinda setting so it wouldnt be so hot. And also the twilight sky looks so purty. Events will be considered and planned if we have time. Photos could work in the way of Day Class photos, Night class Photos, Perfects, and fan requests. Hoping for this to be a successful gathering, ill be updating whenever i see more people sign up.

Last year there was a Shojo Beat gathering that was open to everyone, although the majority of the people there were from Vampire Knight. It was very fun, I wish we had more time together as a group! (: So no, I don't believe there has been a person who has planned a VK gathering. ^__^ I'm sure it'll be a great success seeing how many there were last year (and it's growing in fans!).
So if you do end up planning the gathering, I will definitely come as Day Class Yuuki. ;D (and help you, if you'd like!)

Haha, I just came to check for updates about the location, but it looks like there's a small mistake in who's attending as whom.
Although it's not a huge deal, and I probably should have been more clear. I will be attending as Zero and my friend as Yuki. XD
Well lets get some discussing going on so we dont conflict with other gatherings people might want to attend.
Time : Sometime in the evening. not when its really DARK but not when its bright, when the sky is a little orange :P so im thinking possibly 6:30 or 7:00 (i cant remember how early or late the sun sets in may)
Location : We could be outside by the fountains or go towards the park. Up for discussion
Day: Waiting to figure out if masqurade is on saturday or sunday, but knowing a lot of people like going to masqurade, it will be the other day :D
we'll be on daylight savings so it would actually be pretty sunny around 6:30 ish (since it is technically 5:30 XP)

Not to interrupt the Vampire Knight group but what if you go as a character unrelated to anime? Will you be accepted at Fanime?

yes, theres always at least a couple of cosplayers who have costumes unrelated to anime. Theres always a small group of Storm Troopers that show up every year, sometimes mascot costumes, and there was even a group of guys dressed as Spartans from 300. They're definitely outnumbered by all the anime and video game cosplayers, but theres always a few dressed from something else.
to answer T-1000 as well, yea youre always welcomed. Just make sure you have fun :3 and dont cause trouble probably. and Toshi, mebbe we can ask for permission if we really want to do a classroom shoot XD

A twilight gathering would be cool (as in, before dusk.) If the gathering started while it was still light out and continued into the darkness, you could even do small photoshoots of the night class students going to class amidst the day class girls. XD
But as far as day goes, Saturday or Sunday, preferably NOT the day of the masquerade (our group will be performing).

I do like the park idea. The small courtyard behind the mission-style building across the street (whose name I can't remember). The hotel is nice, but the lighting kinda sucks. its all warm light and makes for really orange-ish tinted pictures (unless you can work the camera right). ;)

Maybe you can find an empty panel room and set the chairs around as though you were in class ... The Hilton had a seating area by the elevators with a few sofas, didn't it? It's inside and don't know how much light will be available, if you need a place for pics.

Yeah, the gathering should be around sunset-ish. The park would be a great place for photos. Excellent photos come to mind when I think of the park by the Discovery Museum. Woot... I'm the only Seiren. Now I'll have two Kaname-samas to defend.

Hey guys... i checked out a sunrise/sunset/moonrise/moonset calendar.
on May 23 & 24, 2009, the sun should be setting at/around/very near to 8:15pm.

Well the Washington Hall will work if it is open lol xD. Fanime happens right as the Spring semester ends. I've never had classes there, I just pass by there everyday from light rail. Huh... not many old buildings around SJSU anymore. Buttheads stripped the ivy off the clock tower so it looks ugly now.
If you guys want, there's a church north of the Fairmont Hotel we can go to instead and go shoot happy there. It's right at First and San Fernando across the street from the museum.

If the campus halls are closed we can always take pictures outside the buildings. They do look archaic and about to crumble. I can think of a few areas that resemble the academy. On my down time tomorrow I'll go and take some photos of campus and post them here.

lol you have Art001 don't you? That building next to the door of room 109(where that fruit tree is at) is pretty old looking(also where you cross the street to Togos, etc.) I think there's also a few old looking places near Uchida Hall as well...

Yeah, the church is a city block away from the convention center. The only conflict with SJSU at night are the homeless people walking/sleeping around.

On the contrary... I didn't see many homeless people at night... In fact, I didn't see many people at all.
I was walking around with a friend late at night (at around 10-11 PM) because we were hungry and most of the restaurants were closed then...
And I mean this may sound freaky and we won't be able to get in... What do people think about taking picture after the sun somewhat sets?
I don't mean go there at midnight but when it's a bit darker so you get the effect?
I think the problem with having it later is that it might conflict with the main events that take place during the evening that a lot of people wouldn't want to miss (Masquerade for example). I personally don't want to miss the Masquerade, but I wouldn't mind skipping out on MusicFest to have the gathering later on in the evening, like the twilight hours or something.

Well this will depend if we have a Friday or weekend gathering. I don't go to SJSU on the weekends (no school that day), so I'm not sure if the hall is going to be open. As far as I know, only the sports club would be open during the weekends. If we have the gathering on Friday evening, the chances of the hall being open will go up.

Well if worst comes to worst, we can always go across the street to the Civic Auditorium or the Church. They are suitable areas to visit.
Now that I think about it, Another good place to take pictures is the hallway in Sainte Clare hotel....
It's the hallway towards Il Fornaio. That may work as the school's hallway...

I wanted to give a shout out to all the VK Cospeeps to come to the Shojo Beat gathering! It has moved to it's own day this year and that is Saturday @ 1:30 pm. If anyone was at the Beat gathering last year then you know how much fun it was and be sure to pick up a copy of Shojo Beat Nov/Dec to see pics of the Shojo Beat gathering from Fanime! VK was my largest turn out and the lady from Shojo Beat that came happen to over see that division! She was happy to see VK represented!

This is the Beat gatherings 2nd year. Though I had close to 40 sign up last year I had only 25 show up (due in part to the entire OHHS group never showed) and VK showed up in full force. Needless to say VK has a special place in my heart :-* The Jump gathering has had 60 cospeeps for the last 3 years and someone is bringing a mega phone for me to use this year *Yeah talk about crazy! Crazy Fun!
My shout out was to let VK peeps know that there is another opportunity for them to show off their VK cosplay. I always recommend to hold your own gathering.... btw... the time is not set hard and fast on Beat and could move. Cosplay Masq was on Sat last year and I believe it will stay there so I set the Beat gathering early enough for changes for Masq. VK peeps have a time that would better suit to attend both then feel free to post it on the Beat thread along with the character they will be wearing.. oh and put down that you are a VK cospeep too ^^)

Yeah, that's what I heard from everyone too. I thought they assumed the masq was on Sundays by default unless some big event was officially announced for Sunday evening..
It would be nice if the VK gathering could be close enough to the SB gathering....I'd love to be at both, if possible.
I have a number of cosplays planned for Fanime, and Headmaster Cross isn't one I'll wear for the whole day.

Yeah. I hope they're close together, too. That way, I could possibly get them both over with in one shot and not have to keep checking my cell phone every few minutes so I know I'm not going to be late. Besides, I really don't want to have to rush over in a skirt. It's unbelievably easy to lose track of time inside the hall.
Well if most people feel that way ill check the times for the SB gathering and we can have it either after, or 30 mins after. However, just hoping not on masq day you know. ^^;
Yeah, the masquerade will certainly put a dent in things. Hopefully, we won't have to compete with it, and lose our precious cospeeps. That would suck. XD;
Speaking of suckage, life sucks. I'm sorry, but something came up and I am now unable to cosplay this year. I can still probably come by and take pictures of you all, but I can't actually participate. Again really sorry, and I hope to join in some other time.

Due to suggestions, im gonna throw these out here for you guys to decide.
Pictures in the twilight would provide perfect lighting/mood for VKG gathering. However not everyone can make it one day or another. Suggestions have been thrown out via AIM and others and this is what I got. Feedback is welcomed and if not this might end up as whats going to happen.
Informal gathering on Saturday - prior to masqurade & Shojo Beat gathering. which means itll be in the day sometime.
Official Gathering on Sat evening (around twilight time, i love the colors x3 [which would mean people not going to masqurade]) OR Sunday at the twilight time.
Feedback is definately welcome. So shoot.

This would be good....I want to be able to join the gatherings, but with our planning to be in the Masquerade--and if that is Saturday as appears likely--the whole Saturday thing is going to be challenging. I can't be running around as Headmaster Kaien Cross in the afternoon on Saturday.
If the Shojo Beat gathering is at 1:30, I don't think I'll even be able to join that.
But if there was something earlier on Satuday, then I could show up with Kaien and still have time to get ready for the Masq stuff.
An early evening shoot would be great for the VK official gathering, I agree.
If the official gathering is Sunday evening, it might be possible for me to be there for that....

I wanted to let you know that Cosplay Masq is on Saturday. That isn't a maybe it is the answer that the Live Prog. gave me when I asked him. As for Shojo Beat... I have had requests to move it earlier. Right now I am waiting to see where Bleach and Naruto gatherings are before I commit to any other time because of the large numbers at both of those gatherings.
The twilight time is a great time to do a gathering! It will leave some unable to attend... but I see cool pics from the lighting :P
Be safe over the holidays and I will see you here on the forums when I get back from LA after the 5th.

I think B has the Shojo Beat gathering tentative for Saturday at 1:30pm. Since the Masq will be on Saturday, I don't know if she will try to push it earlier on Saturday.

yeah Bleach is looking at Sunday sometime either at 12:00 or 2:00 or in between - Saturday isn't any option for me to host it since I'm going to be in the masquerade this year (as well as Kimu :3 ).
Awesome, looks like Oathkeeper already signed us up! :3 Can't wait, this group is going to be huge. X3 I agree that a twilight photoshoot might be spiffy! (As long as we make sure there is enough light for high quality photos and such! )
If some have good enough cameras, you can get some fun pics.
Some of us were up at the San Jose Christmas festival and went over to the con center outside for some silly pictures, and they came out great with some fun lighting!

I did debut a "wearable enough" Headmaster Cross at the ALA Vampire Knight gathering, and enjoyed the fun. (Considering I moved up the debut from May to January? gaaaaaaaaah!)
But...I have a...vow with someone about not reading scanlations for this series, so I don't know yet what's coming up if it hasn't been printed in Shojo Beat magazine.
And I have a major challenging costume I want done by AX from another series, along with a secondary fun one. So I don't know if I would have time or ability to get whatever is coming up for Kaien Cross done until maybe over the summer?
(And I still think I am going to find out I've been typecast again for my cosplays with this character from the hints I've been hearing....there's a certain Kitty picked this one for me....)
But we'll see.
At least I will do my best to attend the gatherings as a pre-whatever-transformed-sword-carrying Kaien Cross....

I need an opinion from people D: And im not going to pm everyone cuz its too many i just hope you guys look lol. How does Sunday around 6 or 7 sound? that sound be around when the sun sets/starts to set. the unofficial can still be at sat prior to masq, just wont be as big/long.

According to the calculators I've found, sunset will be at 8:15 on that Sunday. How long does sunset take? I have no idea. BUT JUST FYI.

If the shoot is 6-7 you're going to start getting the nice evening glow with lower angle light, although that will be balanced by buildings blocking the sun at some point. Also, obviously, if it's a cloudy day....you might then get that early dark gloom--which would be gothically appropriate.
As for Saturday, I'm still hoping B can move the Shojo Beat gathering up a couple hours. I'd like to be there for that, but with the Masq preparations, that 1:30 is not going to work for me.
I'll see if I can 'be back' for VK on Sunday, but I've got 2 other cosplays, so we'll see....
If the Masq is on Saturday then the sunday thing works best for me.
Masq is confirmed for Saturday, despite the lack of official announcements. Yay, connections.

We can have an unofficial gat on sat for those who cannot make it to sunday evening. The sat shoot would be prior to masq by a lot (oh dear i hope we dont burn under the sun). I've decided if we have it on sunday night towards the end of the gatherings, then itd be more likely more people can go, since it doesnt conflict with anything else at the moment with most people who actually keep contact. If youd like to throw in your 2 cents, youre more than welcome to, i havent requested anything yet. It was just as a notification for people who read the forums.

Just thought I'd throw some info out here for everyone. When I did my Irvine private shoot I waited till an hour before sunset so 7 pm sounds like a good time to start a twilight shoot, however if you are planning on attending the B&W Ball it may conflict with the beginning of that.
I was thinking of moving the Beat gathering to either 11:00 am on Saturday or 6 pm on Sunday. Sounds like Sunday @ 6 pm would be a great time for a lot of VK cospeeps, but I am not sure about the other Beat groups. Please note your preferences on the Beat thread so that other Beat peeps can weigh in on the time.

If the official or a secondary gathering VK shoot could be right after the SBeat shoot on Sunday (if that is set for 6), that would make it awesomely easy for me.
That's my vote.
But I'll keep working around what is best for the majority of the group.
Depending on the wig I get a hold of, I will surely attend this gathering as either Takuma or Hanabusa. Depends on which day its held on, though, in the end, since I've got two groups on Saturday and my cosplay for the contest is going to take me some time to prepare for, hehe.
I'll post my final character when I acquire a proper wig, hah! Good chance it will be Takuma, but I will have to see. =) Either way, count me in! I haven't worn my Night Class outfit in a while, so it will be nice to bring it out again!

Hm, I've got a conflict of photoshoot times. So a few updates on my end, here.
Now I may have overlooked, but it looks like the unofficial photoshoot is at 11:00 on Saturday if I'm not mistaken? Or are we still figuring out that day? If that is the case, I can make it to the unofficial gathering for about an hour or two before I have to jet off for another shoot.
Unfortunately for the Sunday gathering, I can't make it, as I will be leaving back for Colorado that day~ We'll see, though, depends on how late/early we leave.
I will still be wearing Kaname, but probably on Friday and not for the gatherings, as a heads up. =/
