Will we need a Seller's Permit for 2011 table registration?

Were the internet to disappear tomorrow, I would be in a world of hurt for a while.  I've gotten out of the habit of making phone calls and handle most communications through IM.  But I'm of an age to actually remember the world and functioning in it prior to the internet, so I suppose if I did it once I can do it again.  Anyone under the age of about 25 or so, though will totally be screwed.  Afterall, how will you guys Google survival tips for 2012 if the internet is dead?
In all seriousness, though, the digitization of media would put all that data in danger.  Digital books?  iTunes?  Online newspapers?  Gone once the internet dies.  That's why I'm not bothering with the Kindle or Carbonite digital data storage.

It will end as all others before it.  The studio will market to the wrong audience (completely ignoring the built in fan base), mutilate the storyline until it's unrecognizable, miscast it horribly (i.e. Keanu Reeves as Spike) and it will be one big, fat FAIL.  Sadly.  This is what Hollywood does.  They latch on to popular things hoping to make money and then ruin them so no one in their right mind would actually pay money for them.  Kind of ironic, really.

General Convention Discussion / Re: Con Sickness

For the first time in 7 years, I caught the Fani-Plague.  Actually half my party got it.  It laid us all out for like 2 weeks!

I actually had a pretty good time this year, but I always do.  I loved Con's solution to the protesters, i.e. park a big truck in front of them.  Brilliant and hilarious.

A few dislikes:
1. Housing- I was told on three separate occasions that there was no Fanime room block for the Marriott: once by the hotel and twice by Fanime Housing.  Except that there was.  So communication seemed to be an issue.

Dislikes that were not Fanime's fault:

1. Rock throwing on Sat.- I don't know who did it, but really?  You're five years old and feel the need to throw rocks at people who disagree with you?  Grow the fsck up.

2. FaniPlague- Again, I don't know who it was, but someone or several someones attended Con sick.  You'd think with all the Swine Flu paranoia that people would be a little more responsible before placing themselves in a position to infect others, regardless of intention.  I realize that you invested a lot of money into Fanime and it would suck to lose it, but if you're sick, stay home next time!  Please.

General Anime Chat / Re: Favorite Yaoi Pairings?

I would have to go with any of the pairings in "Sensitive Pornograph" or Vald & Havi from "Crimson Spell."

watched "Milk" a few days ago. At one time there was a movement in every state against gays. one part of me says look how far we have gone. the other says have we really and wonders how far we still have to go.

There still is a national movement against homosexuals.  How many states currently have Gay Marriage as a law?  How many have since been repealed or voted down?  We still have a LONG way to go.  Women are now the dominant gender in the workforce and yet still make 80% of what men make for the same work.  Isn't there a law against this somewhere?

Things in the Universe / Re: The Awful Truth(s)

You know that hot guy at work who always smiles at you?  He's gay.

Your outfit isn't really cute.  I was just being a bitch.

You weren't his/her first.

You remember when you were so pretty and popular in high school?  Too bad no one cares.

A college degree works against you in a Recession.

There's still no cure for AIDS.

Insurance companies will find any way they can NOT to pay your claim, no matter how legitimate.

Politicians couldn't care less about you.

Sometimes friendship is a cover for jealousy.

and finally,

You can't take it with you when you die.

If the Republican party has gotten to the point that a pill-poppiong drug addict like Rush Limbaugh is it's figurehead, then the Republican party is officially over.

Video Programming / Re: H Night Suggestion

Night Shift Nurses....WHAT THE FSCK?  That was the most messed up fetish Hentai I have ever seen!  Please don't ever show it again.  Damn.

And I had a general question for anyone else who was at H-nights Sunday between 1a and 3am.  Did anyone else feel a little cheated by "Battle Maiden Valkyrie?"  There wasn't much battling and Valkyrie was only a maiden for about 10 minutes.  If that could get picked up again for next year, that would be cool.  I'm curious to see if the plot actually changes at all further in the series.  Anyone know?

Live Programming and Events / Multi-part skit
May 31, 2009, 08:48:32 PM
I've already begun concocting my skit for next year and have happened upon a great idea.  Basically, I need to know from the Powers That Be if it would be possible to have a 3-part skit at Masquerade next year?  It would be a combined 2min30sec (30sec, 30sec, 1min30secs).  The concept will work as a straight out skit, but would be funnier split up.  Would this be possible?  If so, how would I indicate a 3 part skit when I register for next year?

A shiny nickle to the first one of you who posts the complete lyrics to the jingle for LOG!
