General Anime Chat / Re: How do you get YOUR anime?
December 17, 2007, 02:16:24 PM
(:
I buy all my anime.
That or I rent it from Netflix.
I've only watched one series on a place like Youtube, and that would be Tsubasa: Tokyo REVELATIONS.

I don't like stealing.

Fai and Kurogane are great. I could NEVER EVER pull Kurogane off. Like you, I'm just way to feminine and I have a pretty small build. I'm a bit on the short side, but I think I'll be okay with cosplaying Fai.

I adore Chii, I've loved her ever since Chobits. Her and Hideki make such an adorable couple. I've thought of cosplaying as Chii but I don't really care for wear revealing clothes, and most of her outfits are slightly revealing, so I've yet to cosplay her. However, I've been thinking of cosplaying her and my boyfriend said he'd cosplay as Hideki. So that'd be cool.

I love Fai and Chii's relationship in TRC... SPOILER: I think that it is just so sweet that Fai made he to look like his mother! Even though he didn't have the greatest mom, he still loved her enough to make Chii to look like her! <333

xD
I'm sure you won't get stepped on~~

If I can save up enough money to go to Fanime, I'll be cosplaying as Fai D. Flourite from the volume nineteen cover, or in his Celes outfit. Hoepfully I'll have my Kurogane with me but I'm not sure he can make it. T-T What is a Fai without his Kurogane!?

xD
Yeah, anyway, I'll be there if I can get the money.

Some are fairly well done, but others are done in a rush to get the anime out on the american market. Naruto for example, much better in japanese; too many "BELIEVE ITS" in the english.
They stopped using "Believe It!" after episode forty. In the Japanese version, Naruto says "Dattebayo" after almost every single sentance. Clearly, Dattebayo is far more annoying that a few Believe It's.

I went this past July and I had a great time. It is a small con but I loved it.
I'll be going again in January! 8'D

Well, Cardcaptor Sakura has a Christmas episodes, a valentines day episodes as well. And I think there is a New Years episodes as well, though I'm not sure.

The manga Kobato also has chapters for Christmas, New Years, and Valentines day. Which are all super cute!! <333

General Anime Chat / Re: TSUBASA TOKYO REVELATIONS

xD
Hehe. Yeah.
I've been a fan of the TRC manga since it first came out four years ago. Seeing the plot torn like it was in the anime made me crave ripping out my large intestine and hanging myself with it. I can only imagine what CLAMP felt. Tsubasa is their story and NHK/Bee Train totally trampled all over it. It must have hurt.

But yes. I am hoping for them to continue making the OVA's. MOAR BLOOD, GORE, SYAOSAKU, KUROFAI, AND VAMPIRES PLZ. 8'D More OVA's would make me very happy.

Tokyo REVELATIONS was totally awesome, however If you don't mind me correcting the little detail that the OVA is not a continuation of Tsubasa Chronicle. It is a completely independent animation project done by CLAMP and Production I.G. Tokyo REVELATIONS was made because CLAMP was not satisfied with NHK/Bee Train's adaptation. Thus they cut the contract between NHK/Bee Train and are now teamed up with, as I said before Production I.G. The OVA's will cover the Acid Tokyo arc of the manga and there has been rumors going around that they will make another set of OVA's after these are done which will cover the Infinity arc and possibly the Celes arc.

Anyway, I saw the OVA and my copy should be arriving in a few weeks. I was very pleased with the OVA and I'm sure the next two Tokyo REVELATIONS episodes will be just as enjoyable. I mean beautiful music, top-notch animation, great voicing, and best of all: no plot edits! Totally true to the manga! Tokyo REVELATIONS is a great accomplishment and I already cant wait until January! I'm so excited for the second episode~

I saw it, and I was so pleased. After the former anime for TRC, I had some doubts but Production I.G. and CLAMP really made this one work. Beautiful animation, music, and accurate to the plot. I cannot wait for the next episode as it contains one of my very favorite parts in the entire TRC storyline. Two months seems so long~

However, I noticed in the ending credits, the last picture is of Syaoran and Sakura in the Infinity arc clothing!! CLAMP you little sneaks~ I bet they're planning on animating the Infinity arc as well~ That would be simply awesome!

If NHK haddn't been such bitches and had sold the rights for Syaoran and Sakura, the former anime wouldn't have been such a failure. I mean TRC could have been made into such an awesome anime... but instead we got that pile of crap. At least we have the manga and the OVA's.

I like the fountains idea; water just seems a bit more CLAMP. Plus as someone else pointed out, we'll get noticed!!
xDD

Oh, and just a question, is there like a mall somewhere near the convention center? 'Cause we could have a CLAMP march through the mall just for kicks! People would be like "O__o; Wows..." >D

And on another somewhat unrelated subject, Tsubasa: Tokyo REVELATIONS came out today!! 8'D

I usually love Bee Train's animation, like I absolutely love the art for El Cazador de la Bruja. But with Tsubasa, it made everyone look overly skinny and seriously, at times it made Fai look like shouta bait. Really. But I agree, the music was spectacular, as was the Japanese voice cast was superb. The plot edits however, were entirely NHK's fault. NHK is basically the Japan equivalent to PBS in America. CLAMP had no say in the actual plot because NHK supposedly owned the rights to Syaoran and Sakura since Cardcaptor Sakura and refused to left them be shown on any other broadcasting station, but Tsubasa isn't made for a child demographic so the were 'obligated' to edit. That being said, CLAMP never gave them permission to actually rape their plot the way they did. Thus they canceled it and made the OVA's. The OVA's can't be shown on television because NHK wont give up the rights but I could care less, as long as the OVA's are true to the plot; I'm not complaining.

Not to mention the art for the OVA's is going to be ten times better. <333

The Naruto dub makes me cringe and writhe in agony.

xD
The Naruto dub is supposed to make you cringe. Especially Naruto. By nature, Naruto is an annoying, obnoxious, and loud person. His English voice actor pulls that off in a professional and absolutely fantastic way. At least that's what the Japanese producers [ who approved the English cast ] said.

Just wanted to get that out there.
To each their own of course.
#17

For me it all just depends on the anime.
There's good dubs and there is bad dubs, I decide which I like best after watching some of both.

For example, I prefer to watch the dubs of Kyou Kara Maou!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Death Note, Naruto [ even though I don't particularly like Naruto ], and Nerima Daikon Brothers over their Japanese versions. To me they are all fantastic dubs and I since English is the language I speak, I like the more.

However, there are of course dubs that I cannot stand, those being the dubs of: Yami no Matsuei, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew, Tsubasa Chronicle [ it was a shitty anime in the first place ], and a few others I can't think of. So yeah, for me it just depends.

Basically:

If it has a good dub than I usually prefer the dub over the Japanese. I like to watch my anime, not read it! That's what manga is for!!

General Convention Discussion / Re: Pokemon Cards

Someone who plays the Pokemon TCG!?
Wow, I thought Pokemon cards were extinct.
I have about 1600 cards and I'd totally be willing to play a few friendly games if I end up going! =D

Sunday morning sounds great to me, I'm perfectly game for that.

Things in the Universe / Re: Anyone been to Sac Anime?
October 27, 2007, 10:26:07 PM

I went to SacAnime this past July and it was really great. It was somewhat small compared to others but what it lacks in size it makes up for in content. SacAnime is a great little convention. <33

I'll also be going in January, and July as well.
