Just looking for a general date for when that opens up, My college's Anime/Manga Etc club is looking into going.
As well as a price for prereg so we can start the budgeting process.
Probably November/December
It changes from year to year, but that's when I remember it opening the last few years anyways.
As for price, in the past it's been around $40 or $45 (I don't remember which) if you get in early enough. I think in 2010, it went up in October, and in 2011, it went up in November. So my suggestion is to just check the website like once a week or so to see if it's up yet.
From what I can remember, Fanime tends to open pre-registration at Yaoi-Con in Burlingame at the starting price of $40. This offer is available for online purchase for a short amount of time. Then it increases to $45 for a while until around December, when it increases to $50 and continues to increase every few months until the at-door registration price of $60.
As ColbaltTempest said, we normally open up pre-register at Yaoi-Con (with online pre-registration shortly afterwards).

Last year, we opened up pre-reg online a few days after (think of Yaoi-Con as a small test of our database) so if we do that again, you will not need to attend Yaoi-Con in order to pre-reg. Also, you should be able to pre-reg your friends.
Any update about when this will happen? Refreshing the page every 10 minutes gets tiring. =P
I'm curious about this as well. The last thing we were told was "Shortly after Yaoi-Con." Yaoi-Con was three weeks ago. Last year, Pre-Reg went up on November 4, and it was considered uber late. It is now November 11. I get that you're having issues with your database or something (I get an error message when I visit registration.fanime.com, so I figured it was a technical issue) but I'm a little worried that there hasn't been any updates or reassurances that Registration will be up any time soon. Perhaps a small sign of life or a "Yes, we're working on it, please be patient" might make me (and others) feel better.

Well now i have something that i can tell the folks at my college's Genshiken.
I actually dropped by yaoi con on their sunday to see if I could pre reg for Fanime in person because I hadn't seen it go up on the web. I was told Fanime wasnt there this year or last year? Are you discontinuing doing that or is it just the timing?
We should've been there. I have registrations from 2011 that came from YaoiCon. I haven't seen the 2012, but I know that someone went to YaoiCon.
Gah really? Maybe I talked to the wrong staffers. I did search around trying to find you guys. In that case if there was someone there were they taking pre reg even though it's not online? (And if so can I get in on that? I still have my wristband and probably my badge somewhere. Lol)

My biggest fear is missing out on the first 15 minutes when the hotels open as well. A post on the fanime Facebook page states all registrations regarding fanime are in the works, so does that mean they will all go up at once? Pre-registration is now unfortunately a source of stress in my household. :'(

Last year, the Hilton filled up within 3 hours after the site went up last January. So your fear is not unwarranted.

Wow we are actually in the same boat lol. I just hope we get at least a weeks notice before pre-reg opens.
I think if you are checking the boards with some regularity... say, at least every couple of days, you should see the announcement for when pre-reg and hotel come out. My first year of Fanime (2010), I was in Italy when hotel reg occurred, so I was not checking things as much and I still managed to get a room at the Hilton.
Watch the boards and watch Twitter. That seems to be the two quickest ways to find out about things when they open. The website seems to be the last thing updated, at least from what I remember of the past. It's not -too- far behind, but when you are relying on your timing, the boards and Twitter seem to be the most instantaneous.
It looks like the website was updated for Fanime 2012, but registration has yet to open.

I can't tell since it goes directly to the hotel main site, but not for fanime attendees.
Do we have to wait until that is up as well?

In the past, it was up in early November. It's really late at this point, so no one seems to know when it'll go up.
I keep hoping it will happen on the upcoming weekend, but so far that hasn't happened yet (obviously). I wonder if they're having major technical issues this year...
Must be major difficulties going on. Last year, it was up in early November. Now, it already mid-December. I just wish I knew the date so I don't have to keep checking.
I'm thinking it could be up after Christmas if it isn't open this weekend, not sure but I bet everyone will be busy with family and other things for the holidays so I wouldn't mind waiting another week or so.

Yeah, I've been pre-registering for a few years now, so I know that this is really late for them. Last year it was November, and the year before that I think it was around Halloween. I'd like a date too (make that a LOT of people would), but if they had one they would have given it to us.
So barring any speed bumps, we are looking at launching sometime next week, but as you can see, we have hit a few speed bumps already.

Will Pre Reg prices still be up for the same amount of time as usual before it changes to Early Reg? Or will they be extended a tad bit because of the unexpected delay?
I'm not personally worried XD Just passing a question on from a friend in my group.

The countdown box isn't properly supported at present within any version of Internet Explorer; Firefox, Chrome, and Safari all worked okay with it.
So I was at Charles Dickens Faire hanging out at the steampunk booth and heard something interesting.... a girl there said that Fanime is going to be combining with a steampunk festival that occurs on the same date, in the same area. Apparently our Fanime registration will include admission to the steampunk fest to- and the hotels will be adjoining?
Can anyone confirm this?

We try to bring in new events every year, but nothing is truly confirmed until it is announced/posted by us. ;) There are always rumors and speculations regarding new events. :D

I'm kind of annoyed that pre-reg hasn't already opened. The wife and I usually have our tickets by now and I don't want to have to be forced to pay more because the pre-reg was delayed. What's the deal and get back to me on the prices. Again, annoyed.

If we were opening it for Christmas, we would have staffers that would have been watching it to make sure that nothing goes wrong.
A decision was made to just delay it in order to ensure that it's stable enough and (more importantly) that our staffers were able to spend the holiday weekend with their friends/family.

Waiting for the same thing here, mostly to let my group know so they can give me their money.
But really, it'll be up when it's up. Aside from some worrying about raised costs or less time for pre registration before that price itself goes up, I guess I just don't personally understand why some people are so bothered by the delays. I want to register as soon as I can as well but I don't see the point in stressing over it.

Indeed. A $5 increase? That's a trip to Starbucks, maybe a candy bar on top. If they went up $15 or $20, I'd be a bit more surprised. But I can easily live with giving Fanime an extra $10 (for two badges).
Let's keep it in perspective here: AX is $55 today, and will go up to $60 per person starting tomorrow. SDCC is sitting at $150 dollars without preview night, $175 if you want to include preview night (assuming that you can even GET a badge because their registration system has sucked a million lollipops for at least the last two years or so).
Not a bad deal for a convention I can easily drive to and work only a stone's throw from :D

I have to agree. $5 isn't that much (maybe a meal or two at McDonald's depending on what you get), and besides, places everywhere are raising their costs. Starbucks recently added 10-15 cents to the prices of all their drinks, and semester tuition is going up hundreds of dollars continuously. Not to mention $50 for an all-weekend, 24-hour convention is still a good deal. I understand everyone has an emotional reaction whenever prices increase. I'll admit I was a little shocked at first upon receiving the tweet. But when you put things in perspective, it really isn't that bad. Really though, I'm just glad prices have been announced and that a date is set for pre-registration =).
Right now I'm hoping that hotel registration goes up before the spring semester starts since it would be a lot easier to get that done without also juggling class. But, I know the staff is working hard to get it up, so I'll just be patient =).

A lot of the rush on reg is, I believe, folks wanting to get it out of the way early and potentially getting lower badge numbers. That will go fast because many will not worry about it until it gets close to the next price hike.
Hotel is a bit different, because you're looking at a certain amount of rooms for each hotel block and everyone has preferences. But still, I've yet to have serious issues with booking *knocks on wood* and I usually get what I want (the Hilton).

Pre-reg doesn't really close... It just moves up to the next price point at 12:00 AM (midnight or a minute after 11:59 PM) Pacific Standard/Daylight Time..

It will go up as soon as all of the testing is completed. This could be anywhere from "in a minute" (from this post) to around noon. :P It will be open at noon hopefully (any delays would be minor).

My number was 98. I was excited that I got in the top 100. I'm actually glad it went up when it did, because I got out of school at 3:00 and was in my anime club when I got the tweet. I immediately kicked Ebner (the club supervisor) off the computer and registered. :D
I work until 8 so I'm not in rush for the email to come in, just wait and finish up later.

Naah, like I said, I'm just excited :3 I'm always stoked for Fanime when reg comes around, so I was looking towards the humor to keep the cheer. Hope things run smoothly from here though.

hopefully that should help with the slow deliveries some people are seeing.
At some level, it's just going to come down to server load when faced with the power of Anime Fandom. So give it a reasonable chance, but if you are waiting
hours, do go back to the website and hit the re-send button - the delivery method in use now should hopefully be a big improvement.

Oh, I'm sorry for missing your question. You do not need to make an account. An account will be created for you later on and that information will be e-mailed to you.
Even though I'm #650ish I'm going to be #1 in line :P
