Sounds like a fun idea. I'd probably be down depending on what else is going on at the time.

Hi. Last year I did a group registration for Fanime for me and my girlfriend. We then registered for 2013 on the last day of Fanime 2012. When I registered for 2013, the guy at the counter said that they would just use the information from 2012 to set up our 2013 registrations. Does that me we will still be registered as a group for 2013 or will our registrations be separate now?

Sorry if this question is confusing, I don't think I worded it very well.

Unfortunately, it will not. We do not have the ability to import that into this year's database. They are single individual registrations. If you have additional questions, please email registrationATfanimeDOTcom

Thank you for your help. Being separate registrations isn't a problem, I just wanted to know if I needed to pick up her badge for her.

Buy/Sell/Trade / [WTS/WTT] DVDs, Manga, and more
May 07, 2012, 07:24:12 PM
My girlfriend and I have some stuff we're hoping to sell or trade. I'd prefer to make the exchange of money and goods at Fanime but meeting up somewhere else in the Bay Area can be arranged. Sorry but shipping the items isn't an option right now. Prices can be negotiated, especially if you're interested in multiple items. Let me know if you would like to see a picture of a particular item. If you're looking to make a trade for any of these items, let me know what you have to offer and we can negotiate a deal. Thanks!

Anime ($5 each):
Crest of the Stars DVD 1
Reign the Conqueror DVD 2

Video Game ($10):
Izuna: Legend of Unemployed Ninja for the Nintendo DS (game and case; no guide or cover art)

Books ($5 each):
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Darkness Game Guide
Sailor Moon Scout Guide: Meet Sailor Venus: Love

Manga ($5 a book):

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Connecting Rooms?
February 06, 2012, 09:17:39 PM
I had this same problem a couple times in the past and I've found that the easiest thing to do is just wait until about two weeks or so before Fanime and then call the hotel and ask about getting connecting rooms. DO NOT wait until check-in to ask about connecting rooms since it is doubtful that they'll have any left. If you wait until check-in, it is likely that the best they can do is give you rooms next to or close to each other that don't connect. (Me and my friends ended up with rooms across the hall from each other one year when we waited until check-in to ask for joining rooms. We never repeated that mistake again.)

Gaming / Re: Psn?

My PSN ID is AngrySean. (It's also my name on Steam if anybody cares.)

I'm not going to list all the games I have since I don't have access to most of them right now but I will say that I'm always down for a few rounds of Fat Princess or some LBP2.

I'd love to see Fluxx in the gaming room. It's pretty easy for people to pick-up and a lot of fun to play. I've been indoctrinating my friends into it for the past few months and now we're all trying to collect the different theme decks. (Monty Python FLUXX tends to be the most fun for nerds.)

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Convention Center Expansion
December 08, 2011, 01:49:44 AM
I like most of the plans for the changes to the convention center and think they look great. However, I would miss the fountain greatly if they get rid of it.  I understand why they might want it gone, since fountains can become quite expensive to maintain, but it makes such a great backdrop for cosplay photos.

Just for a fun little bit of comparison, I found a picture of the SJCC from around the time it was finished. (The structural engineering firm who designed the convention center didn't list an exact date for the picture.)

How many differences can you spot?

Memorial Day is always observed on the last Monday in May.  (Technically speaking, Memorial Day is always May 30th but the holiday is observed on the last Monday of the month in order to create a 3-day weekend as per the Uniform Holidays Bill of 1968. Believe it or not, there are people who are quite upset about that.)

Anyway, that would make Fanime 2012 May 25th through the 28th.

Hope that helps!

I'm a fairly casual gamer (time constraints, how I love thee), so I'm pretty much excited for [only] FFXIII-2...
looking forward to the alterations they made from the first one. Huhuhu
And the bum Snow is being replaced by dropdeadHNNNGGG Noel. My friend and I are hoping that he steals Serah away xD ...

I forgot about FFXIII-2!  The trailer looks pretty good but I'm not sold on Noel yet.  He seems to be the same kind of generic, pretty-boy, Final Fantasy male lead that we've seen a dozen times before.  But I enjoyed FFXIII despite its flaws and XIII-2 is supposedly fixing a lot of those flaws.  Plus, Motomu Toriyama is saying that the game will have multiple endings and I'm now incredibly curious to see how that works into the Final Fantasy style of storytelling.

The only things that's really interested me so far is the new SSX game.  Of course, I'm a huge SSX fan-boy from back in the day so I'm probably ridiculously biased in that regard.

Dealers Room / Re: which vendor was this?
June 06, 2011, 05:55:13 AM
I think I know which booth you're thinking of.  It had Vampire Hunter D, Berserk, and then a ton of yaoi?  If that sounds like the booth you're thinking of, then that was the booth for DMP - Digital Manga Publishing.

In retrospect, isn't that kind of a weird combination: Berserk and yaoi?  I think that's why that booth stands out in my mind.

To be honest with you, it's hard to find anime/manga fans who have more than just a passing interest in professional sports. I've tried but it just doesn't happen very often.

For the record, I'm a fan of the A's, 49ers, and Sharks.

Dealers Room / Re: Money spent on items
March 29, 2011, 06:47:32 AM
I've found that if you wait until the last few hours on Monday, you can sometimes haggle down the price on certain goods by quite a bit. This works best if there are lots of other dealers with the same item.  If you can get two dealers to compete against each other for your business, you can save quite a bit.  Of course, some dealers will give you a really nasty glare when you try to haggle but don't let that discourage you from trying again at a different booth.

Also, I'm shocked how many people seem to only bring $100 spending cash to the con.  Of course, that's probably because I approach conventions with a "go big or go home" kind of attitude that seems to lend itself well to spending more cash than I should in the dealer's hall.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Stairs are SO underrated
March 28, 2011, 03:13:15 AM
If you can get a room on a lower floor, the stairs are great.  If you luck out and get a room on the third through fifth floors, don't use the elevator unless you absolutely must.  No better way to annoy a crowded elevator full of people than pushing your way onto the elevator on the second floor and then getting off on the third.

However, if you are unlucky like me and tend to get rooms on the twelfth floor or higher, the stairs are kind of a crappy option.  Of course, once everyone starts trying to check out on Monday morning and it takes an hour to get an elevator, I always seem to find myself carrying two large duffel-bags and an ice-chest down ten flights of stairs.
