My playlist is up:

I have videos of Black and White ball, interview with the Man of a 1000 Deaths and Reuben Langdon, and a few more here and there. Enjoy!

I have the demos up on my YouTube playlist as well as a clip of people on the dance floor to "Kiss the Girl."

I always love going to the Fanime ballroom dance. It is certainly my favorite of out all the cons I have been to. Fanime does it right and I hope it keeps the tradition going. The best way I can describe Fanime is that it's the otaku prom without the high school shenanigans.

A Few of My Favorite Things
+ Dress code was enforced. Yay!
+ I felt my stuff was safe to leave on the chairs. It seems that everyone was looking after each other's stuff. Very safe.
+ Loved the demonstrations.
+ I like the mix of J-pop, Animusic, and popular (American) music. Keep that balance going. I was happy to hear Jay Sean and Jason DeRulo.
+ I like the happy medium between a ballroom dance and a prom type of setting.
+ Keep those dance lessons up!
+ Decorations and added tables and new dance floor = good ideas.
+ Thanks for listening to our suggestions from last year, Fanime!

Suggestions
+ I think there needs to be much more clarity on that an attendee does not necessarily need to wear black or white for the dance. I had friends tell me, "I'd like to go, but I don't have anything in black or white."

First of all, thank you for changing my mind about the maid cafe. Last year, I ran into rude (off duty) maids when I wanted to ask them a simple question about the maid cafe. It left a horrible impression. I wish I could have remembered their names though.

However, I did enjoy my time at the maid cafe. I had a great first time on Saturday, that I had to come back on Sunday.

Favorite Parts
+ Friendly staff.
+ Interactive games...really nostalgic.
+ Relaxed atmosphere. Nice break from the con crowds.
+ Loved getting photos with the maids at the end.
+ Many thanks to Momoichi (sic?) for clarifying the difference between a maid cafe and a host / butler cafe. I was confused about the debate, but in person clarification is always a good thing.
+ Really felt like I was at home.
+ Thanks for the drawing!

Suggestions
+ Can we have hot tea next year? I don't drink soda and I'm trying to cut down on my caffeine intake. Tea just seems to be appropriate for a cafe style setting.
+ Music. Can we have a consistent tone of music? It feels weird hearing the Winnie the Pooh theme and then transition to a genki-ish Akihabara-ish j-pop song. I like a mellow theme.

I took some general video and photos of the Black and White Ball. I'll post them here once they are up.

I'll be having videos on my account:

Thanks for sharing the article. I can name anecdotes associated with each plague.

For further discussion, I invite Fanime attendees to attend my "Convention Horror Stories" panel on Friday @ 11PM at the Marriott Room #1.

Marzgurl posted this video back in April. I agree with this video 100%.

If older titles that I grew up with were released and pimped out, I would buy. I'm looking forward to the X/1999 re-release. My old box set went MIA when I lent it out to someone. I'd like to pick up the original Fushigi Yuugi, and lots of out titles that went out of print. Now that I'm out of college and now that I'm making money, I can afford the dvds.

There was a dealer at Anime Central that sells Bodyline Lolita dresses at about $99. They told me they would be at Fanime.

Swap Meet is probably your best bet for wigs. I don't recall wigs being sold at the dealer's hall. It would be nice if they did.

I usually don't wear my wigs to formal dances because my head needs to breathe and cool off after spinning around so much.

Panels and Workshops / Re: Pokemon Cafe~
May 25, 2010, 10:44:01 PM
I'll stop by this panel. It will give me an excuse to break out the Pokewalker. I'll be there as Giijinka Persian!

I was actually at an Anime Central panel last weekend that covered the same thing. She also covered the following:

Rose of Versailles

Phoenix Wright

Utena

Pokemon Live! (off broadway show)
I met the actor who played Ash Ketchum twice. He currently plays Tommy DeVito in the current Broadway run of Jersey Boys. Really nice guy! It's just funny to see him go from ditzy Ash to a potty mouthed gangster. (Jersey Boys is an awesome show, btw)

There have also been musical incarnations of Fruits Basket, Peacemaker Kurogane, Shugo Chara, etc.

It would be interesting to note that some of the Sera Myu performers also have gone on to doing the Japanese transfers of Broadway shows. Anza (Sera Myu) has also done Miss Saigon (Kim) and Les Miserables (Eponine). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6S17UEMpuq4

Hope this can also help!

How about The Nostalgia Critic? Considering that video programming showcases a Nostalgia Critic segment and he has a huge West Coast following, this is would an awesome draw for Fanime.

I talked to Doug Walker last weekend at Anime Central. I asked him if he would be interested in attending a West Coast con. He expressed interest so as long as his travel costs are covered. I would love to see Doug at Fanime 2011!

Looking forward to another stage zero!

Congrats to all the finalists!

I only aim to please. ^.~

Really looking forward to the gathering. The Hitomi and I did wear DoA once before at the Los Angeles Sakura Festival (http://scarlet-rhapsody.com/traveling/sakurafest2010/). I need a new beret...hence, why I ordered a new one.

Okay, I'll be going as artbook Michiru. It's the artbook image where all the senshi are wearing white dresses. This can be seen in the later Stars manga. I will also have a Uranus and Saturn in the same variants with me. My significant other will be cosplaying as Professor Tomoe.

Sunday gathering it is!

Well, along with my Lei Fang cosplay, my sister is doing Hitomi. The significant other is trying to search military surplus stores to get a Bayman in. Hm...I do have a Kokoro (school uniform) that I could see if one of my hotelmates can fit in.

Yay for DoA love!

Waiting for that beret to come in the mail. The wait is torture...

Hence why I'm doing Kokoro for Anime Central and saving Lei Fang for Fanime.
#79
I'll be there as Lei Fang from Dead or Alive.

As long as it is after 2PM, I'm good to go.
#80
I'll be there as Tohru Honda with a seahorse guy!
