Hey Steve,

While most of the feedback I've given are personal (music/DJs), my main concern is the age limit. The reason for keeping 13-17 with 18+ is unclear to me, and an explanation would be greatly appreciated. While it is true there are certain reason for things, I'm confused as to why underage attendees are mixing with adults. It just seems like something bad waiting to happen...if it hasn't already.

Thanks!

Being non-athletic is fine. The main issue was the age of these attendees.  :o
They could have easily separated both of the dance rooms for the age brackets.

Oh god, the music was terrible. It was some mix of top 40s crap mixed with EDM beats. I like top 40s, I like EDM, but together it sounded like a mess. The DJ was terrible and kept screwing up the tempo. First it's slow, then it's fast. I really hope they're not getting paid for this.

I feel ya. I've never been to the dance/rave event so I decided to go this year...it felt like being a chaperone at a middle school dance. I hope they decide to split the ages for 18+ and 18- next year.

Ah, member when the dances actually played anime OSTs? Those were the days.

*How successful everyone thought it was?
It was packed.
*Was it worth going?
If you are interested in meeting new people.
*How many attendees were there?
It was packed.
*Im curious about the guy/girl ratio as well
More guys.
*What did you think was negative about the event? (If anything)
Rude and unorganized staff. Was registered, but denied entry because they were packed. Non-registered were allowed in before I was.

Speed dating event was very poorly run and unorganized.

People that were accepted and registered ahead of time were not accepted or allowed in because the people in charge were letting walk-ins take the spots.

In my case I was not let in because my name was not on the list, yet I received an email saying I got in and I want to thank the event staff for wasting my time.  ;)

Edit: And yes, we were there on time.

There was a girl "Shanay" I believe her name was and she goes to school in SF.  She is around 5 ft and has short hair.  I wanted to ask for her contact info but my phone was dead :(

I don't really have a problem with that.  There has to be room for growth and change.

Other FORBIDDEN costumes include the following:

Modern Paramilitary
Modern Military
ANY costume that could be misunderstood as threatening in the current political climate
Any ROVER has the power to decide what meets the criteria for a forbidden costume.

Do we get told this Months in advance? ... No!
Do we get told this Days in advance? .... No!
Do we get told this on Day zero? .... No!

I get told this on day 1 just before opening ceremonies, and I get told I should have read the rules (which were not amended to reflect the new rule until after my entire ordeal). I get made to feel like crap about not reading the non-existent rules, and When Fanime realizes they Screwed the pooch, do they rescind the the rule till next year (this really should not have been much of a problem) ... no! I get bent over the counter, and they Do me like virgin at a drunken roman orgy! I don't even get the courtesy of a kiss and some lube! All this while being apologized to like I was some sort of molested alter boy the church doesn't want embarrassing them. Thanks fanime! I blew a few hundred buck on a costume I cannot use, not only because of someones lack of intestinal fortitude, but because of their absolute laziness to to keep the fans and attendees informed in a timely manor.

Honestly I do not feel I'm obligated to not talk about this in either my review or rant. If I wanted the sand paper condom treatment I would have gone to Anime Expo as standard attendee. With all the B.S. I have had to put up at Fanime this year I will most likely not be attending next year, and I get paid to go to this! (at best I'm asking for more money).

This was my first attempt at playing dress up at a convention and I have been attending Anime conventions for over a decade, so here I am, about to get my Cospay cherry popped so to speak, and the experience has left me so disappointed (darn near traumatized) That I doubt I will ever dress up even for Halloween in fear that I will get jumped by the fun Nazi and beaten by her killjoy stick.

I would rather be spending my Memorial day weekend honoring my fellow soldiers that have sacrificed their lives for my freedom, then getting made to feel ashamed for my own service to this country.

Yes! I'm still Angry about this.
get over it.

The only thing I regret is not asking her for her phone number or email @ the black and white ball  :(
Her name is Shanay (if that's how you spell it)

The way I see it, you should've raised an issue with the other staffing members and explained your side of the story.  I would've gotten back in line anyways.  The only thing he could've done was call for staffers, which would in fact help you out.

I would love to see the Hatsune Miku concert come to the Bay Area.

Gaming / What MMORPG are you playing?
April 11, 2011, 10:18:39 AM
Currently I'm playing Iris Online (iris.gpotato.com) :) It's a cute little anime themed MMORPG from gPotato, but it's actually pretty deep in gameplay.  Of course this is all while I'm waiting for SWTOR and GW2! So what are you playing or waiting for?

I attended Fanime 07, and the gaming room sucked. I went this year, and the gaming room still sucked. Please have more gaming related things in this "game" room as I'm sure I'm not the only one who wasn't impressed. Instead of just getting arcade cabinets, why not create a gaming stage where tournaments can be held for people to gather around and watch.

I know stage zero had the SSF4 charity this year, so why can't there be a stage like that in the gaming room to fill up some space?

Worthwhile prizes for tournaments? Charge tournament entry fees.

Bring some gaming companies like Namco or EA.

I don't want only an arcade, if I did I would just drive 3 minutes to Milpitas Golfland. I don't have to pay $55 bucks to get in either.

General Anime Chat / Re: Anime Club

why dont you find someone who can teach how to draw and perhaps hold some lessons. that covers the academics and im sure many students would love to learn how to draw.  you can also hold gaming tournaments open to other students and not just the club members. you might even be able to raise some funds if you charge a cover.  just some ideas that i wished my anime club had back in high school to keep me interested in staying.
