Title: Live-Action Suggestions
Post by: LordKefka on October 27, 2007, 12:49:58 AM
Delete if it's a repeat topic.

Anyways..

Hana Yori Dango
Nodame Cantabile
Jigoku Shoujo
Boogiepop Phantom
Gokusen

On a side note, I think these other dorama's need some attention (even though they aren't live-action of an Anime)

Musashi TV - No, not talking about Gundoh Musashi or Musashi the movie. Probably one of my favorite ones out there
My Boss My Hero - Yeah, another pretty good one.

Manga/Anime Based:
Death Note movies
Kamikaze Girls
Yamada Tarou Monogatari (awsome drama based on a manga)
Prince of Tennis Musicals (I'd vote for the Rikkai Set and/or Progressive Match Higa (which will be out by then) since they're most recent)

Other Movies (and Drama) of Awesome:
Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu (aka Be With You - Japanese Version)
Love Letter
Jotei (Drama)
and... if things of a BL-type persuasion are under consideration...
Itsuka no Kimi e
Ai no Kotodama

Godzilla: Final Wars!

(Sorry, but I loves mah Godzilla films!)

Power Rangers: The Movie

(The action sequences were Japanese, right? Giant mech robots, c'mon! Maybe? lol Well, Power Rangers might not fly, but Godzilla: Finals Wars is still awesome. We should watch it. ;D)

Godzilla Final Wars yes, but also the Original Godzilla...

The Heisei Gamera Series would also be really cool...

Are these just movies or can we include dramas too?

And hopefully it's not just restricted to Japanese stuff. ;O

I think a lot of people would enjoy the K-Drama 'Coffee Prince.'  It's pretty similar to Ouran (crossdressing girl working with a bunch of guys).

Also seconding Kimi Wa Pet.  I read a bit of the manga but would love to see the live action for it. =D

I agree with the votes for Death Note, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and My Boss, My Hero (my god that is hysterical); I'd like to see Honey and Clover as well...also because I'm hooked to it: the new Kamen Rider Series, Kamen Rider Kiva should appeal to people...it's theme is vampires. It's a great series, lots of action and humor. Only ten eps out right now but *shrugs* it's an option. My sig is of my favorite Kiva character, so it seems fitting that I suggest it, lol.
Another suggestion, since I noticed someone mention Atsu-Hime...Furin Kazan, last year's period drama, had Gackt in it playing Kenshin. I've seen the entire thing and it's a good series, but it is quite long....

Add Nodame Cantabile specials to the TV.

This is completely on a side note, but I totally think they can make the specials into an OVA or something. I mean, it's perfect for something like that.

Hanazakari No Kimitachi E

Densha Otoko - the TV series, not the movie...

Hana Yuri Dango 1 and 2

Peach Girl (but I don't believe all has been fansubed)

Gokusen 1, 2 and 3 if SARS has started putting it out yet ^_^

Dating Now

Sailor Moon Live Action

Cutie Honey Movie

Last Friends - You absolutely MUST show this one. It stars many familar cast members from Nodame Cantabile (including Nodame aka Ueno Juri herself). It covers many life issues like DV (domestic violence), homosexuality, and the limits of friendship. If any new drama should be included, this is the one.

Oh yeah, there's also a dorama adaptation of Watase Yuu's Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend), so I'm sure you'd want to include that as well.
Title: Re: Live-Action Suggestions
Post by: LordKefka on August 10, 2008, 09:50:18 AM
A few things I picked up which are pretty decent..

The One Pound Gospel - Maybe a little silly at times... I mean, a nun and a boxer... eh. Nevertheless, still very interesting.
Summer Snow - Probably one of the best drama I have seen recently. Bitter sweet to the very end.
Beautiful Life - Another decent drama. One of those things that hits you pretty hard.

Definitely adding my votes for Kimi Wa Pet, Princess Princess D, Coffee Prince, and Hana-Kimi. Also, if they're available, I'd like to suggest the Antique Bakery live-action series, as well as Fruit Chan's horror movie "Dumplings," if it isn't too explicit for Fanime.

OOH!
Yeah, that's a good idea, The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon live action.  I agree with that  lol

I'd *really* like to see Casshern on the big screen.
That's a really awesome movie Utada Hikaru sang the theme for ("Dareka No Negai Ga Kanau Koro [When Someone's Wish Comes True]").
A clip of the main character in his second battle was going around the internet a couple years back as "The Live Action MegaMan".  But it's a really neat movie  :D
Title: Re: Live-Action Suggestions
Post by: SOawesomeness on October 08, 2008, 12:57:18 AM
I really didn't get Casshern... and since it's licensed in America, I'm pretty sure we'd need to get the rights to show it. :0
Title: Re: Live-Action Suggestions
Post by: Raymei on October 08, 2008, 08:05:13 AM
It's licensed in America?
I did not know that.  Unless that's why I was able to Netflix it  lol  (but then that would me a few other movies mentioned here, like "Kamikaze Girls", would have the same restrictions @.@;; that sucks!)

It took me a couple times of watching it (the first littered with rewinding and playing back to see "wait...what was that?"), but what didn't you get about it?
It can be confusing, but it was still a fun movie, I think  :)
Title: Re: Live-Action Suggestions
Post by: SOawesomeness on October 08, 2008, 05:57:33 PM
Yeah, it got licensed a while ago. Basically, if it's able to get rented in Netflix or Blockbuster.... it's licensed. :0

I just... didn't get it... at all. I don't consider a movie that I would need to rewind and rewind worth watching. >.> Though that probably would have helped.
I was lost in the plot and didn't know why things were happening.

Oh, you wouldn't like Momento (a really cool flick about a guy with only short term memory, it plays in chunks of events in reverse-order), that one's good (but not an Asian movie, lol)

I request the same things every year, but they don't tend to get shown.  Seems people want to see anime/manga adaptations and genre films only ; ;  But I'll request them again this year in the hope they get shown:

Any film by Tsai Ming-Liang (I Don't Want to Sleep Alone, The Wayward Cloud, Goodbye Dragon Inn, etc)

Any film by Wong Kar Wai (There's Only One Sun, 2046, My Blueberry Nights, In the Mood for Love, etc)

Nodame Cantabile is win.
Sukiyaki Western Django is fun (show the original version, the International version was cut).  Make sure to have subtitles though, or the Engrish will be unwatchable for a lot of people (even though it's part of the parody)

Death Note is meh IMO.  They completely butchered the story (based on the 1st movie)

I don't think anyone's mentioned Sand Chronicles.

Or how about Happily Ever After, http://www.amazon.com/Happily-Ever-After-Toshiyuki-Nishida/dp/B001JTTJBC
