You wouldn't happen to be the Anji we took out to ice cream, would you?

Oh, as for bad stuff at Fanime... Well, I missed out on the Yaoi bingo.  One of my friends lost her prereg badge as well, and I got dirty looks from people outside of the convention center \o/ (probably because my shirt said 'sadist' on it...)  Other than that... not much 'bad' stuff.

Le Boulanger closed for the weekend and Memorial Day, so I couldn't buy fresh bread and thus a large part of my cosplay, which was handing out free bread, was ruined.

The worst thing... is rather personal. So no, I won't share that.
But the next worst thing was getting stuck with the lamest group EVAR. They didn't want to do anything! Just sit and 'rest'. Rest does not last 2 hours, dammit. I would have left them, but then I wouldn't have a ride home.

Hmm, I think the worst thing that happened to me was when I ran my two Rifts games the only people that showed were my three friends.

Probably the worst to happen to my brother was during on my games he got blown down the same hill by a laser blast 3 times in a row before finally making it to the top...and he was knocked out two of those times.

Most humorous thing for me was taking pictures of random people in the elevators when they were full :D.  My friend and I were having a blast with that.  Maybe I'll post those when I get them developed after the Sac Anime show and you can all see if you're in it :-P

I lost nothing. I was very tight with my stuff; I made sure that I had everything every 5 hours, and I carried most of my small stuff with me.

However, it sucks that you lost your g/f...

I lost my calamity.  I actually agreed to walk up to the guy my friends were fangirling over and ask him for his name, AIM, and MSN/e-mail.  i think insanity possessed me for the four days i was there.  because afterwards, i dashed off and hid in the dealer's room after they lunged at me 'coz he autographed the piece of paper.

mm..  then my friend lost her cellphone.  spent a couple of hours trying to find it.

..my friend probably put about $50 in tokens into the Initial D machine.  that was actually kind of funny..  :3

o.o; I lost a lot of Pocky...^~ But of my own doing since I gave it out to people... I had one guy cling to my leg and say something like, "You want t3h seckz?" If I gave him pocky..Lol. It was so cute. XD Anyway... I didn't really lose anything..but I got approached by a scary dude with my friend! I'll post what I said in the other thread...>>;

Did anyone else (girls, I'll assume since this is all I saw him go up to) get approached by this Desperate guy in a black clothed trench coat, short blonde hair, glasses, really tall--over 6'0"--looked about in his early to mid twenties? It was around 4:30AM Sunday night and me and my friend were wandering about when we got approached by him. He kept trying to get us to go off alone with him or something. First he was asking where we were from, what school, grade, and then asked us if we had a place to stay. He just had creepy vibes coming off him..but the creepy part was when he asked me and my friend if we wanted to see the balcony of San Jose with him at night. And when we declined, he looked a bit miffed and walked away..but later tried to talk to us again.

well most of the bad things that happened, happened around me and thankfully, not to me. my der cosplay group had some drama cuz we were all lacking in sleep and people kept getting hurt left and right. we had someone blackout, someone pass out in the shower, one person pull a muscle in her leg, and one land on her knee worng while doing gymnastics and then have some sort of anxiety attack and almost passout in the hotel room 30 minutes before curtain call. did i mention someone fell down some stairs and one of our fans got totalled? oh yea and one of our people got no sleep all night cuz of costume problems and such. we had fun. i was SO amazed that we managed to live through sunday. i was paranoid that something REALLY bad was going to happen. but overall, it was a great weekend!

hmm... worst things... having pretty much NO TIME setting up an laptop for someone's panel (yes, I helped with someone's panel) and since we didn't have time to test anything to make sure it works, we had technolo problems.

Also, running out of batter when trying to take someone's picture TWICE!  (the first time, the main batter died, the second time, the backup batter (which consents of 3 CR2 batters) died on the same day >_> lucky, my second set of CR2s helped me finished the day and thankfully the girl I was taking pictures of actually waited for me to come back with freash batters).

Also, having pretty much a tight walet this year and couldn't buy anything that I wanted T_T

Let me see...
there were other bad things that happened to me, apart from the getas.

Remember the Japanimation dealer in the dealer's room, selling the drawing supplies? I was going over to buy a few sets of stuff after like 5 hours of thinking, then they close. Man....now I have to buy full prices of things.

I lost my badge, but I found it under a table in artist's row.

I got chocolate on my white Anji gloves. It's hard to get off.

Well....gotta look at the bright side of things.

I said something to someone that made her really happy.

I got fan girls

I turned into bishi-ed for the rest of the con (even though I didn't plan for it)

I've been glomped, hugged, and kissed.

and

The hotel has good pizza. First class.

Among other things, my plane took off because Travelocity booked it with only 30 minutes to get on the plane so I had to wait 4 hours at Salt Lake City.  I also didn't take a camera which was the STUPIDEST THING I DID.

Oh, and since I didn't know about the game room until like the third day I spent a lot of time playing an unofficial SSBM game when I could have been playing SC2.  Oh well.

Lol, that's around $200 down the drain.  The situation is I'm going to talk about is actually more funny than bad.  My friend couldn't deactivate his car alarm when we went it to use it because the device that unlocks his car fell off his key chain.  So while driving, the alarm constantly went off.  It went, " Beep........Beep...... Beep...... BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!" and the pattern went on for 15 mintues.  For sure, we thought this cop was going to pull us over because we were followed for a while.  Some dudes to the right of us were either flipping us off or trying to tell us there was a cop behind us and pointed where to go.

The cop got closer and we were sure he was going to pull us over.  Instead, he literally just passed us by.  My friend and I had a good laugh about it afterwards.

There's also the night starving for a bit while waiting for friends during a whole mystery can situation but that's a another story for a another time...
(btw, there were pears in that can just in case anyone was curious)

I did sit in on the Yaoi room on Sunday night/Monday morning.

I was there with a girl dressed as a belly dancer if that helps.

I almost threw up there, but that was only because those two dudes started making out. We stayed for the raffle only, and the prizes were weak IMO. Only one vibrator and one or two condoms? Weak... not that I wanted to win that sort of thing, it was weak for you girls I mean.

But I wasnt the one to puke in ballroom A, I puked in the privacy of my hotel room infront of people I knew from the interweb and roomed with last year.

I was being stupid. Normally I drink with friends so I pace myself and I drank a much larger bottle than I normally do, so I end up in the hotel room shotgunning glass after glass. Afterwhich I walk around the con singing and dancing and then waiting for the late dinner meet-up until my friend comes and walks me back to my room. Then I just tossed it... into a cooler I bought filled with my milk and soda cans. YEAH FANIME!

I know I proposed to someone and arguing about star wars... but Im not sure whats on the video, but its what Im refering to in this thread http://www.fanime.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3298

Apparently I didn't. I definitely don't recall kissing him, as pleasant of a gentleman as he was. I was one of the bishies on stage, see. I was, err, 'Gothe Kitti.'

This year the worse thing that has ever happened to me at a Fanime Con:
I caught the flu and was bed ridden Friday night with a fever. <-_->
But thanks to the cool people who hung out with me at 4:30 in the morning when I felt a bit better... = D

But...the best thing happened, too. I joined the Logistics team,  met lots of cool people, got to order volunteers around, and was also offered a staff position by a division head. I'd say this was a good year for me... = )

Nothing really, really bad happened but I started the con in a bad mood because my friends and I were walking around aimlessly up and down Artist Row for a long while before we decided what we wanted to do. I was so hyped up about the con but I wasn't doing anything and it got on my nerves.

People who were with me that day, if you ever read this someday, I'm sorry about the attitude problem  :|

My suggestion for you next year is stop by ConOps or Rovers and ask for an escort up the stairs.  Personally, I would have done it, except I'm too old, too fat, too balding and too blind to be walking up 14 flights of stairs.

Okay...this maybe a dumb question...but why would you be walking up the stairs to your room instead of using the elevator?

Elevator takes forever and since a lot of the staff rooms were on the lower floors it was much faster. Besides one of the elevators smelled like Otaku Spirit and booze  (unless that was just puke/pee) :(.

I met a really really REALLY pretty guy cosplaying as a Jackal boy, who was really sweet and adorable (and kissed another guy!)! But I was to embarassed and stupid to ask for his aim or email....

would anyone happen to know who i'm talking about so I can track him down?

Being hit-on by men much-much older than me, and being hit on by men younger than me and the same age. You know what? JUST DON'T TRY TO PICK UP GIRLS AT ALL!! We don't need some jackass saying what you think might be a 'witty' pick up line and making us feel uncomfortable.
So take a hint before I shove it down your throat! God! Guys really don't know how emotionally sensative we girls are!

XD

Okay, but seriously, don't. Unless the girl obviously wants to talk to you. Otherwise, I have no complaints. :D

But if you're in the stairs, he can still follow you. If you get into an elevator and he follows you in, you can still get out and call for help. Who's going to hear you if you're in the stairwell? In any case, if you get followed by a creep...let others know. Go to the front desk or tell a staffer next time.

Hmm I just realized that if a creep tries to corner you at an elevator that you can quickly kick the creep's precious and make a run for it.  Hopefully you would have kicked hard enough such that the creep would be on the floor long enough for the elevator door to close and move to the next floor where people will be waiting.  But then again it sounds a lot of fun seeing the creep tumble down the stairs!  :-k

Stick with the elevator. They have an emergency button for a reason.
Get off at the next floor that you can. If he follows you off the elevator, start making a LOUD racket. Get people to come out of their rooms, that will scare him off, or at least get you more support and witnesses for the police.

Not cool! Suggestion for next time something like this is to get right back off the elevator and let the person ride alone in the elevator. You should have also reported this to the front desk so that they can send security to escort this guy out...especially if he wasn't a registered guest. It's for your and everyone else's safety.

The best thing to do: do a cosplay with a weapon that's sturdy enough to withstand a beating. Girls are allowed to ceck guys if they are molested, and if telling stalkers to go away doesn't work, then usually if you seem like a tough girl, that does the trick.

Another good one is to get a MALE ESCORT with you at all times. Get a guy friend to hang out with your or something.  I found that when I was with another guy, other guys relegated to verbal affections, and I didnt have to pose with them at all for pictures.

Where to begin:

I had a final the day fanime started (8 am) I also had to move out of my dorm that very day too, not fun.

The person that had the room in his name at the convention couldn't attend, so we had to wait till around 10 pm before he faxed the hotel his information. Lost both my California ID and College ID for 3 hours (thank you who ever returned them) Friends were pissed because of the room situation. One of my friends brought over an uninvited unpaid guest, and he went out on the street and picked up some girl who also stayed in the room unpaid (the room was already filled with 5 people with out the two uninvited/unpaid guests. They both stayed all 3 nights. Those two kept kicking everyone out of the room for obvious reasons...

On the last day: My friend said he could give me a ride because we thought one of our people was getting a ride home with his girlfriend. Turns out he wasn't. So I somehow get the ass end of everything and end up taking Amtrak back while the unpaid uninvited guest got a free ride home.

Sorry if I rambled too much I love telling this story. Nothing wrong with the convention though, had a great time there. Just the room situation really blew.

1Well yeah.....friends totally ditched myself and one other at the artist row all day with their stuff (and trust me they had alot of it) so even if we wanted to shut down and leave, we couldn't...

2 Got yelled at by same friends with my afforementioned stranded friend for being 'screeching fangirls' during the Masq. Apparently we had high pitched screaming that gave them a headache?

3 Someone tore the sleeve on my Kagura (Frutis Basket) outfit and I had to pin it for the rest of the time I was there

4 Scary otaku 30 year olds followed two of us out of the Live Action PGSM showings and we had to hide in the bathroom..

5 Someone bought the tarepanda plushie I wanted.

6 Not enough money to buy the out of print Sailor Moon Season 1 boxset along with the season 2 I already own..(I'm lame I know)

and yeah...over all..the worst..

7 Scary guy outside the convention center made us talk to his parents on the phone...he was creepy and it was as late as it could get and we were supposed to convince his parents to let him stay....T_T

I think there also tends to not be much water to float IN...

Worst things?

1-Mariott messed up our room. They gave three girls a tiny room with a queen-size bed when we paid for a two-queen. Managed to fix this by making a stink about it, though we were put in smoking. Luckily, apparently there are VERY few congoers who smoke.

2-Both of my friends fell on the stairs, but who gets hurt? ME! Somehow I hurt my knee on... what... saturday? Whenever it was, I had to miss the Musicfest because I couldn't hobble all the way from my room to across the street. As a result, I stayed alone in my room for several hours. Luckily, I brought some ace bandages and was ok to drive all the way home.

3-We forgot that the hotel phone is EXPENSIVE. Hence, we made too many calls (many were complaints to parents about problem #1)  and subsequently, spent over two hundred bucks extra, for which I am STILL paying off my credit card.

Of all of those... I would say that getting hurt was the worst, because it made me miss ZZ.

i was *this* close (pinches fingers together) to losing my memory card containing rpg and fighter data on it. i realized this when i saw the mem card slot on the ddr machine. i had to drag my literally half dead body back to e-gaming and knock on the door to have some guy let me in to recover said card. i almost puked on the way there, just thinking about all that hard gaming going to waste. luckily, it was still in the console where i left it. lesson learned: WATCH MY JUNK.

prior to this, i also lost my tekken 5 card...for the second time

Well the best way to not worry about film is to get a nice digital cam....and then get 256mb memory card.....at that point running out of "film" becomes VERY hard.....ESPECIALLY if you set it at like 800x600....

I learned to take my charger for my digital cam with me

I learned that ATM fees are expensive when compounded....thus making me need to take all my money with me at once. I could've bought at least TWO discount manga at the end with all those fees!! ;_;

I learned to wait until the last day of the con to buy manga....and to check THOROUGHLY for discounted manga.....buying Tenchi at 30% off does NOT compare to $3 manga ;_;

I learned that if I am going to buy a reverse blade sword....I need to check it first.....

I learned that if I want a sharp sword....I need to check just how sharp the blade REALLY is.  (Damn the fact that a chip on those drop forged blades were sharper then the blade itself!!)

I learned that asking a cos/crossplayer to dance....make sure they're FEMALE.....otherwise it leads to embaressing mistakes @.@

I learned that getting those authentic Naruto headbands is worth the hassle of making it FIT right....that cheap one I got just makes me feel empty now....

I learned that staying up all night one night having my state of mind acting AS IF I was on drugs....doesn't work the 2nd time....it just makes me waaaaay too sleepy ;_;

Then after he did he asked if he could give me a hug , I don't know why I let him , but it was sooooo creepy ,  when he was hugging me I could feel him breathing all heavy and stuff . and not only that but also when he was talking to me  he kept glancing at my chest  ewwww.

After that I saw the same guy doing that same thing to other girl cosplayers , it was so gross .

When you say it was stolen... what do you mean?  Like, did it just disappear?  Regardless, always check lost and found.  Fanime attendees and staff are (or at least were) incredibly good about turning stuff in.  My best friend lost her wallet once, with ID and money and a passport and everything in it.  We were sure it was gone for good, but just for the sake of trying, we went to lost and found and poof! I accidentally ran a red light getting to the con. It was a really weird intersection and it wasn't obvious where I was supposed to stop. Nothing happened but it was extremely scary.

I spent all of my money really early on, and that included my food money. Luckily my friend let me work her table on artist's row and she paid me in food.

I was mistaken for a guy a few times... but I guess that wasn't so bad because it just meant I was crossplaying well.... right? (delusional)

My two friends and I were going to go to the all night Bleach marathon and I was all ready to go and I couldn't find them ANYWHERE. They weren't answering their cellphones either. I missed the beginning of the marathon desperately searching for them and I found them in that dance area with two drunk girls. When I approached and tried to talk to them one of the girls started yelling "No!" as if I were going to steal my friend away from her. Needless to say, I was extremely pissed off. I ended up just going to my hotel room and watching Lord of the Rings.

My novel of a rant:

I ran out of time pre-con to sew my boyfriend's Urahara hat  (http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=506121).  And I wasn't going to see my roommate again (who owns the sewing machine) until we were at the con.  Well, Thursday night, we get everything into the hotel room, stuff is all over the place, and we can't find the hat.  Friday morning, the hat turns up in the middle of the chaos.  We are in a hurry to stand get in line for a space at the swap meet, and my rush to sew it, I not only bend the sewing needle, but I jam up and break a mechanism in the (brand new) sewing machine. *dies*

So we go down to the swap meet, and my boyfriend is wearing the hat, which is not finished.  I just attached all the unsewn fabric with pins.  We wait in line for HOURS, and don't even get a spot in the swap meet.  So at 11PM or so, we drive to my grandmother's house, which is about fifteen minutes from the con.  Her Singer is older than my dad, and I had to use a foot crank type thing, which is really difficult.  After that failed, I switched over to the electric foot pedal, which was slightly broken and would stop every few stitches.  I finally got a system going, but it involved my hand getting really raw, and I ended up bleeding.   :(

Somewhere in the middle of that sewing time, I managed to break one of the ceramic fixtures on the sewing machine, but luckily my grandma had a spare.  That still doesn't change the fact that I somehow broke two sewing machines in one day.  At 1AM, though, the hat was finally done... And so was I.

Two of my friends got followed by this one fanboy last year.  Luckily, we have a lot of friends at the con, one of which was a group of boys, who hung out with us at the dance to guard us from the guy.  (He'd snuck up on us for like the third time and joined our dancing circle without asking... not really insulting so much as just reeeally freaky.)

Eventually we informed con staff about it.  They were really nice and helpful.  Unfortunately, our description of the guy (he was a volunteer, scarily) matched some other poor volunteer guy... and one of the staff members pulled him over to us and was like "is this him?"

He looked so scared.  XD  I felt bad.  But he was let off the hook immediately.

1. Spent four hours in the Dealer room, circling it, got ladden with tons of bags and almost died because it really was a LOT of bags.

2. Was forced too bring a friend who never left me along, wouldn't stop talking, bought the same things I did in the Dealers room, kept all my other friends away from me because she was annoying.

3. Paid WAY too much for an Edward Elric plushie but the guy was too convincing.

4. Bought four wonderful yaoi doujinshi of FMA with Havoc/Ed in it, but they all got taken away by my aunt and I never got them back. Thankfully she didn't tell my mother (who doesn't know about my thing for Yaoi) about it.

5. Had too keep going too the ATM's again and again and again and again like the Energizer bunny. ATM's also refused too give me my money. I have no idea why, (hotel) staff didn't do much when I complained.

6. Saw tons of cute guys but was too scared to strike up a conversation. (I was dissapointed in myself because of my shyness. It counts.)

7. I didn't originally intend too go too Music Fest so I didn't have time too change clothes and looked like I just crawled out of a dumpster. I rushed down too the auditorium and then waited in line but then the guy told me I needed my badge, which I didn't know. I had too run up too the hotel again, and then run over the tracks (scared too death that a train would kill me) and get into the auditorium. Doing all of this on an injured knee, I felt like I was going too die by the time the concert started. Didn't have enough money too buy ZZ stuff when I got there. The Mosh Pit was fun but the next day I couldn't walk right...

8. Couldn't go too the rave because my friends were too tired and I wanted too stay (and I'm the one with the bad knee. Ironic much?) but I wasn't going too stay there by myself so I left with them.

9. Staff person was cold too me. Why? I have no idea.

10. Had to leave Sunday afternoon when I wanted too stay till Monday.

The guy who was supposed to be bringing my costume turned up late at the meeting place, which, in turn, made all the rest of us late. Then, I find out that the the sleeves on the gi were too damn long! Every time I sat down I would sit on them! It seriously got on my nerves after a while.

My bike lights got stolen. Different lights, two different consecutive days.

Aside from that, I don't think all that many bad things happened to me at the con. Well, I guess I lost my 2005 badge, but it was sometime on the way back from the last day or something, so I never needed it again. Oh, and I got a little depressed at how few new people I met last year, after having such high hopes. In retrospect, that wasn't even true!

Although I think my bank account would attest to something bad happening to me at Fanime every year.

I spent $93 on a costume which no one took a picture of.
I got ditched and ended up curled up in the internet cafe at 1:30 am.
My sister attached herself to another random guy just like last year.

All in all... so far it is suckage.

~Saiyuki gathering got canceled due to no attendance -.- Chrno Crusade was a semi-gathering I guess you could say ^_^;(what happened to all the Rosette's that said they were gonna go huh!?!?)
~some pervert photographer hugged me(which was ok) but then he wanted to kiss me >.<
~Left Musicfest very early due to the lack of enjoyment >.>
~roomates were rather "messy" @_@
~and I didn't make it to the Kingdom Hearts gathering because the swapmeet didn't start till 8 -.- so my sense of time got messed up and I completely forgot

Bad things...

Had to leave on Monday (today), about 4 hours early cause my lame friend wanted to 'get home', knowing full well that I'd been waiting a year for this to come again...not to mention we left early last year cause he's a bastard.  He was driving, so kinda had to listen, but figured he'd let me stay til the end, but noooooo.

Spent all my money, which is only bad because it was about 640 dollars, but there's a good side to that...got cool stuff :D.

I guess a bad thing is I always feel sort of out of place because this is the only anime con I've really gone to (second year in the row and still loving it)...this is mostly because I'm somewhat new to anime as well :S.  Getting into it, but you know, still so much stuff I haven't seen that gets brought up in conversation so I feel kinda lost and intimidated.  *shrugs*

Otherwise, pretty much a gooood con...

My friend left his pillow in our room...so that's the bad stuff on his end.

OMG, yes. I'd been waiting all year for the GTL show! Does anyone know what happened to him?

Part of me is relieved that ManFaye didn't show up, but the other part of me is also kind of sad...

Let's see, bad things...

- The pre-registration desk had some problems with getting my friend's badge and she ended up having to get a paper badge instead

- I lost my badge in the E-gaming room, but luckily someone found it and I got it back

- The skin between my big toe and index toe got rubbed raw from walking around too much in wooden flipflops >.<; (not geta, mind you)

Hmmm.... Bad stuff that happened...

I didn't watch as much anime as I really would have liked, or got to see many of the panels...

My roommates were complete drama queens, two of them brought their personal problems into the con and one of them tried to bring down the whole con experience with him, basically, he was being a whiny little bitch... (No offense, but that's what it seemed like sometimes.)

No pics of me dressed as "L", probably from all the other gajillion different L's

My camera battery started to die the other night, and I had to stop taking pictures... Right through Sunday... My battery overheated and lost a little power... Damn that camera.

NO MAN-FAYE~~~!!!!

I believe I lost the one fanime shirt I got and one of those black cats from Gaia (though I'm hoping that my brother will have them in his bag when he gets home)

But....late Saturday, all Sunday, and today my spine has been itching to go *crack* ....music fest, random lines, walking (lots due to losing people and getting lost) and ugh....Kamijo event (story behind that one...). I can't find a comfortable position where it doesn't hurt.

Even then, nothing has made me think even close to negative about this con.  Most fun I've had all year+ half of last year.

Two things kinda sucked:

1) Waiting over 2 and a half hours to get my sisters' their Saturday passes. I decided to show them around the Con with their friend, and they got there around 10...and the line was unbelievable. I had pre regged, but still...there were like 3 lines that were over 175 people long each...crazy long lines.

2) Wanted to go to Rick myers panel on Sunday night, but it got moved around or something, so I wasn't able to see it. LOSE!

Other than that, I had a great time!

Hmmm, where should I start?

Saturday:

-Walked around the con in 4 inch mary jane shoes. For awhile I had to walk around in no shoes, because my feet were really sore.
-Didn't get many pictures taken of me on Saturday. I worked really hard on my outfit too ;_;.
-Couldn't make it to Musicfest, because I was so exhausted
-Waited an hour for Kamijo mini-live
-People kept bumping into my wings!
-Missed half of Kamijo's mini-live cause my feet hurt so bad from standing.
-Lost the KWOON shirt I bought.
-for some reason didn't have the urge to buy tons of stuff from the dealers room.
-By the end of the day, I started to feel a little sick. Must have caught it from someone.

Sunday:

-Felt pretty sick, but went anyway despite my health.
-The buttons on my coat kept getting caught onto my fishnet shorts
-By the end of the day, the fishnet shorts of my Anko costume were completely trashed.
-Waited in line for Kamijo's autograph, but the staff said he was only gonna sign his CD and the issue of Cure Magazine with him in it and I had neither of those.
-Naruto gathering wasn't as big as it use to be.
-Couldn't get the FMA cosplay costume, because it didn't fit. ;_;
-Waited in line for Der cosplay, even though it was blazing hot!
-Had to leave der cosplay early, because my mom had to pick me up.
-Stood in the cold, waiting for my mom, while wearing nothing but shorts, fishnet, a sports bra, and a coat that wasn't very warm.

Monday:

-Felt even more sick than before, but still went.
-Felt really hot while walking around con. After all, I was crossplaying. I had to wear two sports bras and masking tape, just to flatten my boobs. And I was wearing a long sleeved shirt.
-Didn't wear any socks with my tennis shoes, so I got a blister on my foot.
-Was really bored.
-Became broke by the end of the day.

Well, I could list some bad things, but they were mainly personally ones that were a bit wee silly (/gg drama at a con...waste of time and interfers with con fun) =P

The only few bad things that happened to me was: Not eating enough, resting often and getting sick. Getting sick by sunday sucked hella hardcore. First time i've gotten sick at a con too lol, but by monday, I was "done".

Now, on the sick thing, either my eyes deceived me or what, but I noticed quite a few people getting sick. Something in the air perhaps? I know a few of my staff got sick and anyone entering E-Gaming areas kinda looked sick.

Only bad thing really ('sides not having a room thanks to not finding anyone to go with me ::pouts::) was I lost my old badges from 03 and 05 when they broke off the string they were clipped to. Knew I shouldn't have kept them on the same plastic tag, as it was 3-4 years old. So that's really my fault.

But...did anyone find old badges with the fan name of Gwydion on them? Anyone? ^^

-My ankles have been hurting since Saturday. They still hurt now. I'm grabbing some ice.
-My roommate left me behind to take care of our bags and stuff (he went to the SSBM tourney, which I dropped out of). That made me   Ugh.
-Half the stuff I wanted to do I either had to cancel or arrive late for cause of my rommates and meetings and the like.
-I was rude to someone on Stage Zero and I owe her an apology. I wasn't thinking good at the time and I regret saying it ](*,)

Bad:
-My sunglasses may have been stolen by hotel maids (still unpacking, but doubtful i'll find them).
-I missed "Hot To Talk To Girls" which I feel I really needed to go to.
-I missed the Detective Conan movies I wanted to check out because I fell asleep watching Bleach.
-On the last day I awoke screaming due to an extremely intense leg cramp thanks to a busy night before.
-I woke up my roomies with previously mentioned screams.
-I didn't talk to an Envy I liked as much as I wanted.
-I didn't get to touch a girl.
-I didn't buy any DVD's.
-I paid $4 more on a Kakashi plushie than I had to.
-I only ate stale peanut butter sandwhiches and pringles the entire con.

Good:

-I was at Fanime 2006
Title: Bad Things that Happened to You (at the con)-2006 ed. :D

the bad:
-no GGXX tourney
-missed the GGXX gathering
-my group and I only wore our GGXX cosplays one day
-got dragged into retarded late night antics, lol :?
-annoying weapon policy

the good:
-Fanime '06 kicked ass overall
-fairly well organized con
-game room had import Samurai Spirits and GGXX/ arcade WOOT! :D
-pretty much zero drama with all my roomies

On a side note, was the stalking issues really bad this year or is this the norm for Fanime? It seems like there are a lot of complaints.

Good things that happened:
-  Actually had pictures taken of me this year (went as KH1 Riku).
-  Got to talk with the Kwoon/Undercut people.
-  Got picked as a volunteer out of the crowd at the Stunt Demo in the Artists' Gallery.
-  Hung out with my friends.
-  Saw a few Fanime board members (Ryu, gmontem, ect...)

Bad things that happened:
-  Missed out on the KH gathering because I was making the Riku costume.
-  Got jumped/bum-rushed by a group of fangirls because of said Riku costume.
-->  said group swarmed in a mass of ~10
-->  said group had BO to the point that I couldn't breathe (SHOWERING AT LEAST ONCE A DAY NEEDS TO BE A RULE AT FANIME!!!!!!)
-->  the group scared me and the general population
-  Injured myself trying to escape from said rabid fangirls...bad times...
-  Forgot to bring my camera...nuts...
-  Accomplished no work during Fanime (I am so royally screwed these next few weeks).
-  Missed out on a couple of pannels...

But overall, it was fun.  Hope to be back next year.

As an artist in the Art Row, I figured leaving a paper guestbook in the room overnight would be safe, as it really was just a sheet of paper that I asked people to leave their websites and doodle on.  I came back to find that someone had ripped a big chunk of it out.  Fun.
Cosplaying in knee-high boots that aren't mine resulted in several new ankle scars.  Fwee.  It might be because I tried playing Twister in them.

Needless to say, I was silent for the last two hours of the con before I had to make my way back to the Diridon Station.

Things I need to do next time:
Other than that... it was an excellent first con. If I can (more likely now, since I'll be getting a job this summer), I'll work on coming again next year!

- I spent a couple times as much on food than in the dealer's room. >_<

- My badge fell off in the dance. However, it appeared at Con Ops just a couple hours later, thank goodness. My friend's badge, which vanished around the same time or maybe a little earlier, sadly did not.

- I kind of botched my cosplay on Friday by not having the right color hair. I fixed it for Sunday and Monday though. (I was in street clothes on Saturday.)

- I didn't manage to play anything in the tabletop gaming room, which was a favorite hangout in previous years. I guess that's mostly because this year's was in an awful room.

In other words: very few bad things.

The elevator lobby on the 2nd floor of the hilton smelled like dirty sock and ass by the 3rd day. I almost vomited...

Other than that...being groped up the wazzuu by rabid fangirls at the yaoi bingo/pictionary... but that was kinda fun!

the worse was --> -stalkers, one guy in particular really creeped the hell out of me, especially since he'd come up to me when my bf was away from me and try to talk to me. There is a serious need of a panel that informs people how to be at conventions ie: be curtious of everyone, don't stalk people, and take showers etc....

-wore heels the entire weekend

-one of my cosplays gave me a huge bump on the top of my head and is still there ~_~

Bad:
- I lost my necklace. (But it is being returned, so I'll only have to wait for a little while.)
- A lot of my friends left early, but there's nothing I can do about that.
- Threatened in E-Gaming room.
- Didn't have cosplay ready.

Good:
- Everything else, pretty much.

What I learned: I need to be more careful with my stuff. I'm just lucky that my necklace was found. Oh, and to pack a little lighter. Carrying all my stuff was a bit of a pain.

I lost my comb. And, the bobby pins I was using to pin my wig went missing, except for one. Then, my costume started falling apart, as there was a big hole in the trench coat and one of the buttons on the belt fell off and went missing, while the other fell off on one side while on the other side it was still attached. Now, I can't find my jump drive! (which I brought to the con)

And, there was quite a bit of drama happening around me.

1. Some personal drama rose up and killed the happy mood.
2. Fan-Boy funk in the Dance rooms sucked. *pukes*
3. Missed out on good Masquerade seating because I arrived at my staff post late and didn't get a chance to reserve a Masquerade seat.
4. I wasn't able to spent a lot because I wasn't expecting such a high hotel tax so I ended up loaning more money from my parents.
5. I had a really bad stomachache when I left Masquerade. Even food didn't make it better.
6. My roomate's attempts to pack my room with unwanted guests to cut down on the hotel cost displeased a majority of my friends.
7. There wasn't a lot of good food. Eating nothing but noodles and McDonalds for 3 days straight sucks.

I'll edit later...

Didn't meet up with Tearra

Loss of large amounts of money

Face is now messed up from Yaoi Pictionary

Back is too sore

My dark silver necklace broke

Didn't sing Akai Suzu

Malnutrition, but that's my fault. ^^

Bad:
-I think I might have given one of the girls the wrong phone number... X_X

If you saw a posse of 4-6 T-shirt Ninja's wearing rice-picker hats (except for one wearing a Coo's Cap and one wearing all white with a Dejiko Cap), then that was us.

Let's see:

-Eating 911 Challenge Chicken Wings and felt unconscious for a while!
-Perforiming in the DDR Freestyle Exhibition on Saturday and felt the 911 Chciekn Wing eruption.  I nearly barfed!
-Scraped my knees when spearing someone with a glomp sign...umm, spearing people does count as a glomp, right? :?:
-Lack of food.
-Spending over $350+ overall!  I went beyond spending limit.  Guess I have to pay my bills somehow. :(
-Lack of sleep!
-Being too late to compete in tournaments!  My fault for being last minute.

That is all for now.

Hmm...

-I wanted a plushie that I only saw at one booth for like $18, so as soon as dealer's room opened I sprinted there to get it, and 10 minutes later I found a booth that had one for $9...

-Everybody in my group EXCEPT for me wanted to leave the masquerade b/c of the long line, so I ended up MISSING it... That really ruined my Sunday.

-On Monday at the dealers room, I bought the whole set of KH figurines from Jungle Collecter's, and when I bought it I asked them if they would sell me their display case. They said yes, and to come back at 3 pm to pick it up. When I came back to pick it up, they gave me the display case with their old figurines in it, which is Bull b/c I specifically told them I only wanted the display case and NOT the figurines inside of them. I wanted my own seperate set of figures in their original boxes because I planned for it to be a gift, BUT now all i have are dusty alrdy opened ones.

1) I was supposed to meet up with D-Hime who I met at tofu records forum at 1pm on sat. but I ended up forgetting and I felt hella bad.
2) Didn't make it into the finals for the karaoke contest, prolly cuz I was so worried about not making it without coreogpraphy and that I'd lose to the cute Chii chick...stupid me...
3) The thing that makes every girl wish they were a guy...
4) My shoes hurt like hell to walk around in....so half the time I was barefoot
5) People kept stepping on my gravity defying ribbons (I was lucus clyne for whoever wants to know) so it would hurt my arm like hell because i had them conencted to the rings which were secured on my arm with hollywood fashion tape, which is SUPER sticky and I got a really bad bruise due to people stepping on my ribbon.
5) While wearing my konoka costume outside, the wind blew a lot (classic Anime moment right there) and I had to do my best to hold it down ><
6) Every time I went into the hotel room i'd think I lost my key but it would always be in my purse wedged between something.
7) My voice got hella shot from screaming so much at Gakufest (I was in the way front, standing).
8) I coudln't get really good clear pictures at Gakufest ;_; but some is better than none...
9) I missed pre-reg for fanime '07 because i didnt' leave my hotel room till about 11 or 11:30 and didn't hear any announcement about it and then me and Joni Roketto Dan (Johnny rocket team-I call my friends and I since we eat at johnny rockets every year while at fanime, it's a tradition) went to johnny rockets for breakfast so missed pre-reg...
10)Coudln't find ANY of Tamaki Nami's NEW singles (they only had her new album. dammnit)
11) I cried SO HARD during the Fruits Basket AMV to the song "you'll be in my heart" that I didn't get to see the end of it (but then they reshowed it at the masquerade and I DID see the end cuz I didn't cry that time! yay!)

Yay! I finally got to post about horrible crap that happened to me at Fanime :D I shoudlnt' be happy about that...but it's fun to share the bad crap that went down.

I forgot to mention this:

I was in my cosplay as Ayame from Tenchu, and so this guy was like wondering if I was a ninja. He called out his three friends who were all girls and they all attacked me and pretty much raped me.

Bad idea.

My girl was there watching the whole ordeal and that basically ruined her whole night, watching me getting glomped to the floor by some random ugly girls.

Wish she knew that I had no planning in that...

I sprained my ankle, and still can't walk. it may havea hairline fracture. It's blue and purple. o__o''

Funniest thing was that I was leaning on the opposite leg, and fell over on the left leg. XD I don't even know how that happened, I just suddenly lost my balance. I don't blame my platform boots though, cuz they didn't cuase the 'accident'. My ankle would have snapped if I had fallen in different shoes. I've never had that happen in those boots cuz I can dance, run and jump in them without getting hurt. I guess it was the 'ghost of sudden klutzyness'.

So yeah...i'm all "friggen owch!" But it was worth it!

It's ok, don't worry about it. I ended up giving her a few trading cards and that card with the "Priss Trailer" on it. It was enough for her.

If no one has any idea what Duo is talking about, on Monday around 11AM-12PM, I was carrying a laptop with SOS-dan headband on, offering to dance for 1$ or teach it to you for 3$ total. It was an attempt to raise money so I could get a plushie for my sister (I forgot her birthday was the day after), but failed as the staff told me off in the middle.

I made only 3 dollars.

I actually had a really easy going time, but~

Bad
- Spilling a drink all over myself within the first 5 minutes of the "Damn You Internets!" panel, while trying to demonstrate to the audience what. . well, nevermind about that. I was sticky for the rest of the panel! Err. . right!

- Missing my spot on the "Your Princess is in Another Employment Line" panel by being too anxious to cosplay on Friday.

- Missing my chance to interview the Rooster Teeth guys for the above reason.

- Not being able to play a proper Makoto due to the gigantic radius of the 3rd Strike sticks.

Good

- This image answers most  :D

Nothing really bad happened as far as I know, but there were some things I might have liked to change....

Bad Things:
1) I lost a sandwich to the fruit flies in the Artist's Row D:
2) During the dance on Sunday, a guy asked me to dance with him, and I sorta... ran away after a minute >>; (If you're out there, SORRY!! ;^; I'm not good dancing with strangers)
3) The batteries in my digital camera ran out on Sunday T^T
4) My large Bleach Movie poster sold for $40, but the fees added up to $45 (printing/gallery/other fees)

Good Things:
1) Actually made a profit on art sales :D
2) Ran around like crazy, thus getting lots of exercize
3) Played Houki Boshi on someone's keyboard, and people came by to listen.
4) First con EVAR and had SO MUCH FUN >w<

Good:

I made it to Fanime!
Wasn't planning to go, but the last time I went as in 2004.. and I had the day off, so why not?

Bad:

I only went on Monday.. the last day... and it just felt deserted... :(
I barely got to take any pictures... barely saw any cosplayers... and the only pictures I liked out of the few I took are of this really cute girl holding a sign asking people in the hallway for Pocky (though she was probably too young anyway, so that's a negative).

umm... tha tis about it. XD

My suggestion for you next year is stop by ConOps or Rovers and ask for an escort up the stairs.  Personally, I would have done it, except I'm too old, too fat, too balding and too blind to be walking up 14 flights of stairs.
Yeah, that'd be the kind of thing where we'd advise you to either
1. Take the Elevator, not the stairs, crowded or no.
2. Stop by Rover base and request an escort
3. Grab a friend and make them go with you.

- Radiant Silvergun = 9 lives per credit. I understand that there are people who want to try the game and that this game is hard, but I feel as if I could just BS my way through.  These days I like my games at the default settings (for scrolling shooters that's usually 3 lives and normal difficulty).
- Some level of odor, as expected.
- Only 1 game vendor in the Dealer's Room, and they charged $55 for New SMB! Trizeal for $70 isn't bad given that it's a Japanese release (I've paid $70 for DoDonPachi dai-ou-jou and $70-80 for Beatmania IIDX games) but $55 for an American DS game is not right.
- I missed the closing ceremony because it wasn't clearly announced.

Hm.  Given that we had free WiFi this year, and an Internet Lounge, I wonder if it would make sense for the staff to set up a computer in the Internet Lounge with a built-in flash card reader, so that people could upload their pictures to Flickr or other online photo sharing sites--that way, if their flash card gets full, they could upload their pictures to their online account, then empty their flashcard and go back to taking more photos.

Or would that just open up too many potential liability issues?

Good:
-Met new people
-Got to talk to this girl i like from my school, got a little closer i think
-Made people happy with pocku

Bad:
1: Forgot my camera
2: And there was a winged elf
3: And a Nina Windia
4: 2 and 3 further compunded the badness of 1
5: No sleep
6: Started hallucinating and talking to random people
7: I look creepy when I dont shave or sleep or bathe.
8: Disorganized staff
9: Too many damned lolis...hardly any girls over teh age of 18, and none of them were single.  I mean im not likely to get brave enough to tell that person im in love with her, so I have to try and find someone else....
10: Hardly made any money from my massage business...BUT it did buy me a few hamburgers :)

Lesson learned: ALWAYS GET A HOTEL ROOM!
This has been very educational.

Oh and to the person who said she lost a pair of cat ears: Is that a Loveless reference?

Lesson learned: ALWAYS GET A HOTEL ROOM!
lolis? look harder...i saw more girls over the age of 18 than girls under the age of 11.  Oh yeah loli specifically holds the age group of people under the age of 11.  For girls 12 to 18, there is a different word, forgot what it is.

yeah for cons, always get a room.  I stayed at a friends house 10 miles away.  Driving the freeway and getting parking every time we went in and out, kinda got annoying.

Uhm.. I didn't have a key card to my room and thought everyone was sleeping so I ended up sleeping in the hallway, waking up and knocking every few minutes in hopes someone would open the door.   Turns out I was knocking on the only room with no people in it b/c they were wandering the con floor. S'all good though for my b/f found me and lots of worried huggles ensued. =^_^= And things were right with the world again.

Naaaaa, are you the man with the baseball hat?

Bad list:

-Perverts following me around all day
-having a dress jacked from me by my friend and then him getting a Kwoon interview rather than me as I had discussed with the man earlier
-friends ditching me when I was taking a photo (I'm sorry, Lolo, I can't say no to them!  ;_;)
-Losing my badge sometimes on Saturday
-being stopped forever at the door to Der Cosplay (but I still love ya, kilt man!)

My good list runs on forever though, so having that few bad items?  Overall good.  : )  I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone responsibe for making this one of my favorite Fanimes.  Thank you to all the staff, rovers, nice Con Ops people, music-fest security, volunteers, website developers, guests, Tony (mad props to this guy), and of course all the attendees!  You guys all rock, let's keep up the good energy!

Bad:

I dropped my digital camera on Friday morning.  The lens was extended and could not close when I turn off the power.  I went to Kamera Korner located at 545 Meridian Avenue which is 10 minutes from the convention center.  The guy said it’s going to cost $160-$200 to replace the lens, and the guy didn’t mention extra $$$ for rush service.  Not worth repairing.  I chose to purchase a new camera.  I went to Office Depot and purchased the same model.  Fry’s didn’t sell my model because I just got the new camera two weeks ago.

I ate dinner at Johnny Rockets on Saturday afternoon.  A piece of tomato spilled on my cosplay pants.  I went home and washed the pants twice.  The stain was not entirely removed.

Sunday CLAMP gathering at 12:00 P.M. and FMA gathering at 12:30 P.M.  At 12:15, I rushed to a SoCal friend’s hotel room and changed.  When I arrived, I missed the Homonuclus group shot.  And very few cosplayers showed up at the CLAMP gathering early on.

Forgetting people I met last year and at other cons.  I was embarrassed.

Left part of my dinner under my chair at the masquerade during the so-called intermission.

Going back home several times during the con for various reasons.  I consider a hotel room next year.

Good:

FMA post-gathering gathering great turnout.  Went to Jack-In-The-Box to grab lunch, walked back to the convention center, and had fun chatting.

Met new people.  (I hope I remember them in future cons and anywhere else.)

Purchased the last Rozen Maiden art book, last Rozen Maiden pencil board, and last Bleach Hitsugaya plushie.

Worst thing to happen to me at Fanime... I forgot my digital camera at home!!! I missed out on taking so many pictures!!! NO!!!!
Oh yeah, also, I stayed at the Marriot, got up, walked all the way over to the Starbucks at the Hilton, and they were closed, so I had to walk back to the Marriot to sleep. Not that bad, but was kinda depressing. I need my caffeine in the morning, my little stature can't stand so much lack of sleep. And my legs are short, and it took a while to walk across the con.

the worst things to happen to me this year? well actually i think the con was kinda cursed for me, prior to the con, i had lost my job, so i couldnt spend as much as i would have liked. saved some money tho, cos i was supposed to go out with a sorta-girlfriend, untill she decided to dump me by making out with her ex boyfriend in front of me(yeah great times there)managed to wear a hole in the back of my ankle with my beatle boots, which went better with the kirk costume than my chucks, almost didnt get in cos a friend who had taken care of reg for me, had forgotten to change specific details, such as THE BLOODY NAME! but the admission folks were awesome, and gave me a badge, oh! and i got harrassed, and threatened 'cos i was dressed as captain kirk. some jerk had slipped me a note, which upon reading it said "go eat a d**k kirk-God" and yeah other than that, there was fun. being 21 has its perks^_^

Quote from: "DayDreamerNessa"the worse was --> -stalkers, one guy in particular really creeped the hell out of me, especially since he'd come up to me when my bf was away from me and try to talk to me. There is a serious need of a panel that informs people how to be at conventions ie: be curtious of everyone, don't stalk people, and take showers etc....

I'm planning on making a little panel like that eventually Nessa...although I wasn't the stalker, was I!? Just need to check...I don't like stalkers either...

First of all, it was the best time of my life for many reasons.

Bad things I can think of:

- I got sick
- I got my friend sick
- I ran out of money
- My friend missed the Kamijo concert
- Fairly sure two of the guys running a vending booth wanted to rape me
- Some guy tried to take my picture even though I said no repeatedly (I wasn't in costume!) and i had to hide behind my friend to get him to leave
- Some icky guy touched my ass while I was watching my friend game
- One of our travelling buddies left us stranded in South San Francisco, alone and cold with no way to get out on the way back

Overall it rocked hard though

Good: I got to go to fanime 2006, first time

Bad: First night I was there I got yelled at for coming late to the hotel room from a friends friend that was staying there. Lots of hotel drama happened at Crowne Plaza.

<_< She ended up saying that she was our parent at fanime and I couldn't be out at the convention so late (came back at 3 in the morning while she was sleeping) She also didn't want the tv on at all in the room.

My friend chewed her out at least and said I was 18, then she left me alone. But I ended up staying with Kazuko at the marriott.

My feet hurt so bad from playing a lot of ddr, and walking, standing during the Music Fests and Kamijo's little live thing.

I ran out of money.

Not much sleep but I was expecting that.

Didn't eat much, and didn't get to buy much.

Lost a bag of my clothes, but it doesn't really matter.

My ears went out at the rave from being up front next to the base.

My voice went out for a bit.

I got a very harsh cold, that began to show symptoms on Sunday.

Didn't really get to meet many people.

Missed a lot of good panels, especially due to checking out Monday morning and leaving right away.

Bad:

- lost a very pretty Punch Drunk Tees shirt that I bought on Sunday (gold koi on a blue shirt) because I kept putting my bags down so people could take pictures of our Jet Set Radio group
- lost the Saki Hanajima dress that I made, SOMEHOW (we cleaned that room UP, and it's possible that somebody else packed it up, but I haven't seen it yet ;_; )
- didn't buy as much as I would've liked because of my paranoia about buying too much *laugh*
- missed watching Paradise Kiss
- didn't get any pictures of myself in aforementioned Hanajima dress
- no Man-Faye (and here I'd promised my online friends that I'd get a picture with him)
- didn't get as many pictures as I would've liked because I'm lame
- losing my from-home friends at the dance and feeling sick

Good:

- APPLES TO APPLES (good lord, that was an experience XD)
- the bizarre wonder of Magical Shojo Lyrical Nanoha
- restate above for A Bittersweet Life
- GetBackers gathering, which was my first gathering and a buttload of fun ^____^
- not seeing somebody I didn't want to see ^_^;;;
- all the random little things that went into making it a wonderful experience <3

Though it doesn't look like it from my list, the good farrrrr outweighed the bad, and I'll be happy if next year is as fun.

The only really bad thing that happened to me at fanime was  I had some difficulty with my Ed Elric costume so the blood seals on my body were black instead of red.  Plus participating in the masqurade at my very first con about made me puke from nervousness.   Overall I had a lot of fun though, met cool people and showed off costumes...it really felt like home.

Oh btw  I personally didn't have any bad experiences with the furries, they pretty much kept their distance and seemed nice enough.  Of course their was one that sounded like he was a pedophile...which was doubly suprising cause he was really the only one in a fursuit I met that talked.

I thought the bat guy was nice, although the tip of his wing kinda caught my skirt as I walked off, but it seemed like an accident.

Bad things? Hmm, I bought a dress that didn't fit and I don't know the name of the vendor so I can't buy a new one. I didn't buy much because I'm not familiar with most anime  :(  Lack of good food in the area. I went to a vendor in the artist alley and discovered they didn't accept cards or plastic. I walked aaaall the way to the atm by reg., discovered it was out of order, walked aaaaall the way to the one by starbucks, got my cash and walked aaaall the way back to the vendor. Luckily they were nice enough to hold the shirt for me *is wearing it now!* Oh, and I also missed out on every panel I wanted to see, the Masquerade and the rave! I also didn't take nearly enough pictures. I still have a disposable camera I have yet to get developed. Oh! and the few pics on my other camera that I took came out awful because it was dark  :(

-On the last day I awoke screaming due to an extremely intense leg cramp thanks to a busy night before.

-I didn't talk to an Envy I liked as much as I wanted.
-I didn't get to touch a girl.

Seeing, that I genuinely don't let bad things happen to me, or I rectify bad things that do happen, nothing really bad happened to me.

However, things that I could have gone with out.

People screaming about pocky for no god damned forsaken reason. Look people, it's just a crappy inexpensive cracker with a little bit of crappy chocolate on it. It's very low quality, and it isn't very good. You're kidding yourselves if you make it into something special, and frankly even though you will deny it... you only make a deal out of it because "ZOMG IT'S JAPANESE". Eat a twix... or a Kit-Kat, or a Melty Kiss, or a truffle... those are better snacks that have much higher quality chocolate and what not. Hell if you're so in love with stick with frositng, get yan-yan, even those are better, and about the same price.

Idiots wanting to hug me, and people I know... ... ... especially when we're not even in costume. I'm far from being conceited, but I'm decently attractive(Slightly above average). It irritates me when I'm walking down a hallway trying to get somewhere, or looking at something, talking to friends, or pondering purchasing something, and some random idiot(male or female) will stop me and ask for a hug. Even if I am(which I rarely am) in a costume, it's just retarded. If I'm in a costume and you want to take a picture, or take a picture with me, that's fine. Then there's the idiots that get angry or upset when denied a hug. It's bad enough how much leway I'm giving you because you're in a convention setting, if it wasn't, i'd probably tell you to go fuck yourself instead of politely declining.

This one asshole had the gull to hug my girlfriend(at the time) out of the blue I shoved him away, I woulda beat the crap out of him had she told me to just keep going because she wanted to get back to the room.

What else is there... Oh, idiots and dumbshits in the arcade/console area. It irritates me to no end when people bitch and whine, and complain about something they know nothing about. If you are genuinely knowledgeable about something, and can make coherent complaints that actually apply, that's fine, go ahead, because I might care enough to listen and discuss. But in the game room, everyone thinks they're an expert on everything. I was playing Guilty Gear Slash, my friend was playing Tekken 5. I had about a 23 win streak, he had an 30+ You have no clue how many times I heard people saying that I'm a cheap bitch ass hole that thinks he's good only because I learned how to do one combo over and over again threatening to kick my ass, and how many times my friend got threatened for being chip to him. Then they'd call all their friends over and stand behind me talking shit about me about how I have no life, and I suck at the game, and I probably can't get laid(jokes on them... though, there's no reason to get into my sex life right now).

Signs. People with signs. Any kind of sign outside of signs that are meant to be part of the convention and direct people where to go for convention events. There is no point for these outside of to try and exploit the stupid(AND BOY DO THEY DO) and attention whore yourself like a retard to gain sympathy/pity from people that probably could not survive in a real world environment. All they do, is cheapen you, get in the way of people that know better(and I can ellaborate if you don't get this one), and cause future problems ranging from tiny, to irritatingly annoying for staff(oh ho... the stories I coudl share).

Jesus christ, grouch much?

Listen pal, if people screaming out randomness for kicks, people with signs, or people otherwise randomly being happy or silly bothers you that much, you are in the wrong convention scene. Hell, I'd be willing to go so far as to say youre in the wrong fandom.

I can understand being upset about the arcade thing, but seriously. People come to Fanime to "let their hair down" so to speak. People are here to get away from "real life" and do things they wouldnt normally do, say things they wouldnt normally say, and act in ways they wouldnt normally act. Judging them based on their behavior at fanime is beyond misguided.

If your "real life" is so perfect you dont need this escape, fantastic for you. Why dont you stay there? But most of OURS arent. A huge portion of us got into the fandom because we're different. Didnt have a lot of friends in school for whatever reason, so we sat at home and watched anime and played videogames while everyone else was out partying or whatever. Fanime is a place for us to come together around a common interest. Fanime is a place for friends to hang out and get along without assholes stuffing them into lockers or "beating the crap out of them" or telling them theyre "idiots" or "dumbshits" because they act a certain way. Fanime is a place for people to smile. I suggest you learn to smile, or just dont bother coming next year, because I can just about promise that it's going to be more of the same.

Most of us wouldnt have it any other way.

So let me get this right. You believe that fans of Japanese cartoons/comics, should be idiotic spazzes that run around like 6 year olds, have no sense of judgment, and run around trying to hug(and in many cases have sex with) as many strangers as possible in one weekend.

I've been watching Japanese cartoons, and reading Japanese comics since 1988. I've met, many many many people most people dream of meeting at these cons... in a personal setting.

Watching Japanese cartoons and reading comics... to me is about enjoying a media, not acting like a bunch of retards.

Really? Here... I thought it was a media convention. I thought it was a convention about meeting up with people who share your interest, to broaden views about a hobby, and what not. Maybe they should change the tagline of Fanime to "FanimeCon: Escape from reality and do shit you can't do in real life and expect no one to get offended" Or maybe that's too long. Let's shorten it to "FanimeCon: ACT LIKE AN IDIOT, WE WON'T CARE"...

Why the hate?

Anyways, I agree with a lot of what pr0n has to say. Being an anime fan doesn't justify or regulate behaving like a moron. In fact, that kind of mentality is what gives the rest of us a bad name.

It's good to respect other people's space. And other people's girlfriends. I totally understand pr0n's desire to kill some dude for randomly hugging his g/f (some guy did that to my g/f...she wasn't cosplaying or anything.)

Anyways, all of that stuff aside, there will be morons at the Con this year. People will get glomped who hate being glomped, there will be chaos and confusion...however, there will also be plenty of fun for all.

What we can hope for, however, is the overall increase of intelligence in the fandom as a whole.

Does that mean I'm expecting Fanime 07 to be composed of a bunch of mellow anime fans ages 18-35? Heck no.

But, I do hope the younger ones try their best not to embarass themselves, or the rest of us.

I like pr0n, and agree with CrackPr0n's views, except for the reccomendation of truffles, which are overpriced and overrated.

Okay, I was writing more stuff here, but in retrospect I just ended up reiterating CrackPr0n and FanFicGuru's points about respecting personal space so I won't bother.

But I still stand by my truffle review.

With all due respect, CrackPr0n does have a point but it could have been better said without so much profanity.

1) Pocky: I personally find Pocky a decent snack every so often (although I don't have chocolate often) and it is the most easily available export from Japan so its no wonder that people brag about it.

2) Hugging your girlfriend: I don't feel any animosity toward another when they hug my girlfriend because I put my full trust in her (not to say that you don't) and know that she won't betray my trust.

3) Gaming know-it-all: Yes, I agree that they can be annoying. However, haven't you ever rambled on in a speech when you talk about your passion and stated things you only think you know by accident?

4) Signs: Signs are often meant to be funny, and although they attract attention, do not think of them as attention-getters. Rather, just read the sign and think it interesting or move on and not give it a second thought.

5) Getting away from reality: I agree with SKN on this matter because anime, quite often, is not seen as "normal" in the eyes of many of my peers and I suffer as such. In fact, I could even go so far as to criticize the racism that I face on a weekly basis, solely on my ethnicity and ethnicity-based preferences. As for being sociable, yes, I believe I am. I have the respect of the majority of my classmates (not to be mistaken with those in my grade level) and have more friends than I can count. Conventions are good places to escape persecution and express what you like without fear.

6) Convention newbiness: Yes, sadly I am a newbie to conventions; I began my convention going with Fanime 2006. You may believe that I have little room to speak with such little experience, yet I believe that my opinion does carry with it, at least, some weight.

Thank you for reading my post and I hope to ease this conflict of flaming.

Trooper: Dependent on where you're getting them. Quality of good truffles vary, quite a bit, as well as price. I've gotten pretty good truffles for a small box of 10 for about 6$. I've also had a truffle that was 3$ that was worst than the boxed ones I had.

When have you ever hread of someone bragging about... cadburry cream eggs. Or like, Licorice rope. Or a taffy bar. It's the fact that its "Japanese" that people even give a damn about it. If it were an American product, no one would give a damn at all.
Quote
2) Hugging your girlfriend: I don't feel any animosity toward another when they hug my girlfriend because I put my full trust in her (not to say that you don't) and know that she won't betray my trust.
I don't mind if people hug a girlfriend of mine, and I don't make a big deal out of it(this particular one made a bigger deal out of it than I did). But it's the fact that people have no tact. First off, she wasn't in a costume, and she was obviously my girlfriend since we were holding hands and she was leaning on me at the time. She also cosplayed as Tohru from Fruits Basket. Many guys asked her for a hug(after asking to take a picture, or asking if he could hug her in the picture), she always asked if it was okay with me. I always said "It's up to you, you're being hugged, not me".

That's totally different than some guy approaching her out of the blue and going "CAN I HUG YOU?" or just standing in front of her insistant with a sign that says "PLEASE HUG ME". These are unacceptable actions in terms of personal space. I don't care about most things, I don't care if people curse, or how they dress or anything, as long as it doesn't push into someone's personal space(at a respectable level). Things like this should not be tolerated, and frankly, none of these people would dare do these things any where outside of a convention, because people know that "they can get away with it".

Quote
3) Gaming know-it-all: Yes, I agree that they can be annoying. However, haven't you ever rambled on in a speech when you talk about your passion and stated things you only think you know by accident?
For the most part, I'm not that ignorant, and I don't do it out of frustration. I'm not going to make false claims to someone who is obviously more knowledgable or experienced in something than I am. When discussing something that is factual, it's just stupid to do so.

Quote4) Signs: Signs are often meant to be funny, and although they attract attention, do not think of them as attention-getters. Rather, just read the sign and think it interesting or move on and not give it a second thought.
you missed the point completely on this one. Signs are degenerate and stupid in terms of behavior. Think about the real world. Why do signs exist?? Why would you carry a sign? A sign is something you want others to read, therefore you make a sign to get the attention of people. Street signs are there to post information. Advertising signs are to display information to catch your attention.

Who carries signs like this otherwise? Homeless people who want something from people. In their case, it's money. In the case of conventions... it might be money, but usually it's just "attention" they want. I'm a firm believer of giving people what they deserve(not what they want). If some idiot is caring a sign around, then I will give them attention, but it will be very negative attention. But just so you guys know, signs can be very damaging. AX comes to mind, where a kid cosplaying as someone from Naruto had a signed saying "Ninja's killed my family, please help" with a cup next to him as he sat in the main hall. THat kid made more than 60$ an hour. First off, that's peddling, which is illegal already. Secondly, staff is allowing this to happen, so this means that the convention itself is taking responsibility for this peddling act. Although realistically, 60$ isn't that much money, it is, when it's one person in a situation like this. The convention CAN BE FINED for this, and it would not be a small fine. It would also look bad to the convention center, and any sponsors, hosts, or anyone else dealing with the convention.

Then there's the more extreme cases. Girls prostituting themselves. Sure, it's masked, but it's still prostitution. Some girls(and guys) had signs like "Sleep with me 10$" or "5$ for slave neko boy". This could get a convention into serious party.

Oh, but those are extreme cases, most people's signs aren't that bad... But it doesn't change that they're only their to attention whore, and solicit people. Anything involving money=solicitation. Anything offering a service or an action, is considered solicitation.

Quote5) Getting away from reality: I agree with SKN on this matter because anime, quite often, is not seen as "normal" in the eyes of many of my peers and I suffer as such.
Expressing what you like, doesn't mean acting like a child. As I said, I'm willing to bet I'm a bigger nerd than you are. I go upwards to about 6 conventions a year(not just JP cartoon/comic conventions). I go to about 3 national level fighting game tournaments a year, and local tournaments twice a month. I used to go to Scifi conventions, and US comic conventions, RenFaires, I've gone to E3 for the past 7 years and a number of other gaming shows, and for the most part, JP Comic/Cartoon conventions IN THE US are the only ones where people act this stupid. At no other convention to people run around and tackle each other to the floor and roll around like an idiot in the middle of a convention floor(They might do it for panels, or in special rooms, but never in general public areas). Never do random people run up to you and ask to hug you for no damned reason other than they think you are cute(unless you count S&M bars... which I have also been to).

So your "We do it to escape reality" is not a valid excuse to act like children. All it does is validate my wanting to punch someone for hugging me without my position, or propisitioning me in a terrible way.

Quote6) Convention newbiness: Yes, sadly I am a newbie to conventions; I began my convention going with Fanime 2006. You may believe that I have little room to speak with such little experience, yet I believe that my opinion does carry with it, at least, some weight.

I have a 100% serious question for you. Before you witnessed what happened at conventions, and before people told you things, what did you picture in your mind a convention to be? Did you imagine it that people are allowed to run around and hug people without asking questions? Did you fathom that people would run around screaming that they want pocky crawlking on the floor begging people to give them pocky? Did you think for a second that people would be running around with signs saying "PLEASE GLOMP ME!" or "CAN I GLOMP YOU?!?!?!"?

Truthfully, I didn't think much about the happenings of a con before I went but I thought its demography must be somewhat like my school: some calm, some hot-headed, and some estatic. I hadn't a clue to the scale at which this con would present itself (I also didn't know how the estatic would express their ecstacy). So I guess my answer to your question leans more toward "no" because I hadn't thought exactly how people would act, though I knew they'd do something.

On a second note, thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. I appreciate the demeanor with which you answered, as many of the people I know (nobody on these forums, though) would have answered with more hostility.

And lastly, this will be my last off-topic post for this thread. If you have anything you wish to discuss, I'll pm you in response. Once again, thank you for your time.

Define 'normal', because your version of word is not going to be mine, nor the next person to post either.  You really must have been uncomfortable with what was going on and some how you are expecting everyone else attending to comform to what makes you feel okay.  That is a little hard...

As for escaping from reality, that's what Las Vegas is for, but I highly doubt that Goth Girls are going to start doing pole dancing or swimming in oversize 6' tall wine glasses with Coke CR poured in.

Okay, here you go again, your expectations of what everyone else should doing at the convention has been violated.  You are imposing your belief system on those attending.  The way one conforms at our normal interaction in life doesn't always have to happen in their form of entertainment or enjoyment.  If everyone conformed to your belief system, being that how you act in your normal life is how you should act during your off time would have cause Las Vegas to cease to exist a long time ago.

You're young and I'm a hell of a lot older than you.  A word to the wise.  You're out numbered and you really wouldn't like 10,000 screaming attendees to be tracking you down and shouting at you, just to get your goat.  Let go of it...

Next, I've been working FanimeCon for a number of years and you are pushing your point way out of shape.  Your mantra is showing and frankly I've never experienced what you have encountered and I walk the floor from early morning until almost midnight for all four days.  Are there kids gone wild, yeah, but that's what kids do and I've seen it all, including one guy getting duck taped to a pillar, a couple of times I catch attendees having sex under tables or in the dark places in the dance room, boys surfing on the sections between the escalators, a Ninja boy threatening a real police officer (and live to tell about it) and yes, I've even arrested several of our attendings for a number of dumb things, but to have what happen to you, it would seem to me like your a magnet to bad people.

On the other hand I see some of the best examples that humanity has to offer up.  People who go out of their way to help someone else and never ask for anything in return.  The attendees of FanimeCon have shown patience where their parents would have quit and walked away.  They have shown tolerance where others would have gone on a kill spree and never batted an eye.  Yes, I have seen them to do 'things' for the betterment for the whole instead of themselves without thinking twice about it.

Yet, you seem to find the worse that's out there... Why is that?

Cartoons and comics= medium

The convention is about these two medias. Therefore it is a Media convention. Compared to a commercial convention, which is probably what you assume I said.

Uhm... if you're not here to enforce rules... then don't be suprised if I harass the hell out of people that annoy me then...

You act like "acting like civilized adults" means that everyone should conform to perfect soldier ants.

I could careless about conformity, I'm very against conformity. I care about very inappropriate behaviors. Basically... if what you're doing is something you wouldn't do in public... then why are you doing it at a convention? The settings aren't very much different... outside of appropriate attire. Social behaviors and norms should still be the same...

Even people in Vegas are more well behaved than in conventions. Sure, some girls are lifting their shirts and flashing people, but I don't see people rolling around on the floor and tackling people on the floor(because if you did that, you'd probably be arrested or kicked out of the casino/club you're in). You could walk around drunk out of your mind, but acting like children isn't acceptable.

QuoteOkay, here you go again, your expectations of what everyone else should doing at the convention has been violated.

It's more about what they should not be doing, than "what they should be doing". I'm not imposing my belief system at all, I'm saying people should act like adults, or teens, instead of 4 year olds. Your vegas comment is hillarious though. How do you compare drinking and alcohol, and letting loose the same as acting like a child screaming like idiots and running around tackling people to the floor. In Vegas, try going up to random girls with a sign that says "CAN I HAVE A HUG?" Try it... and record it please. I'd like a laugh.

I'm 23, I've been to Vegas many many many many many times. Being out numbered doesn't mean I'm wrong. And it's not me against 10,000. A lot of people agree with me. The numbers aren't that sleighted towards people that think acting like retards is okay.

Though, try me. You think I'd back down or be scared by a small crowd? I'm younger than you... so? What does that mean exactly. I've experienced a lot of this world. I've traveled around and done... quite a bit in this world. If you're gonna play the age card, that's fine with me, but if you think it's supposed to intimidate me, it doesn't. Many older people respect me for my knowledge and experiences even though I'm younger. So, I suggest you try a different attempt if you are trying to scare me in some way.

QuoteFirst warning... In the future find different four letter words or you will asked to leave the forum. Period.
I didn't use any words you can't hear on primetime TV on network television. Using authority like this is rather belittling to both of us since, it has jack shit to do with anything either way. Hell I can pick up a magazine or newspaper and see these words.

QuoteNext, I've been working FanimeCon for a number of years and you are pushing your point way out of shape.
Are you stating that... these things... are... okay for people to do at conventions? That's my point. These people shouldn't be allowed to do it. People jerking off in the hentai rooms, people acting like firehazards by rolling around in hallways, etc. etc. etc. Things like this go beyond breaking basic social appropriateness. The only reason they act like this though, is because they think "LOL I'M AT A CON, I CAN ACT LIKE A STUPID ASS AND NO ONE WILL TELL ME I CAN'T!" People that... don't get hotel rooms, so they sleep in the convention hall on the ground or at the courtesy tables... Oh oh oh, one Fanime was great. Two of my friends were walking around at around 2am just catching some air, one of my friends wants to go smoke. Upon walking down stairs we walked by a phone booth where two people were making out. Not just making out, but her legs around him, her sitting on the counter where the phones are, groping each other. So out of amusement we decided to do something. I walked up, picked up a pay phone right next to them, and started making a call. One of my friends started talking to them. They got pissed at him obviously. But he kept at it, talking to them. At this time, 3 staff members walked by, and guess what happened. They gave me and my friends shit... for harassing them.

They threatened to take away our badges and kick us out of the con. I laughed at them. At this point Justin(Head of press I believe he is), walked by and asked if there was a problem. He laughed at the young staff members who said they would kick me out of the convention, and he laughed at the two people making out. He then told them to get a room. At which point they said "Oh, we don't have one". He told them that they'd have to leave convention center grounds then because they cannot loiter there all night. He then apologized to me for the other staff memebers' actions and was on his way.

Quote
On the other hand I see some of the best examples that humanity has to offer up. People who go out of their way to help someone else and never ask for anything in return. The attendees of FanimeCon have shown patience where their parents would have quit and walked away. They have shown tolerance where others would have gone on a kill spree and never batted an eye. Yes, I have seen them to do 'things' for the betterment for the whole instead of themselves without thinking twice about it.

Yet, you seem to find the worse that's out there... Why is that?

And your point? Blind tolerence is stupid. Just like overaggression is stupid. Do you want me to turn this into a pissing game to show "how good of a person I am"? All I'm stating is, there's such thing as simple social graces that should be recognized in public, and people seem to think that because they are at a convention, they need not have any standards, any understanding of behavior, or any decency when they are completely out in the open.

I'm a very liberal and open person. Hint: I've ran many panels at fanime, and to say the least... they've been... controversal. Many of the staff at fanime know me personally, and they know I'm anything but a prude. But they also know that I'm not stupid and know how to act accordingly.

People should have a decent amount of maturity, and follow basic social graces in public. Just because they are in a convention should not mean they can act like 5 yr. olds.

CrackPr0n, you had a bad time last year, especially after re-reading your posts and you want, nay, you have stated that those attending need to conform to what you beleive is the correct behavior for their age groups attending the convention.

I disagree...  Enough said on that subject.

The next time I see Jason, Head of Programming, which will be March 18th, at the Staff Meeting, I inquiry with him about the kids having sex by the pay telephone stalls and what he witnessed about our staff.

Of course I wouldn't have acted any difference than he did with the kids, except maybe to get a fire hose out and cool them down.

You really can't read, can you?

Who says these were all things last year? I even stated that most of these are general experiences that have happened at fanime. Also... I never said they were having sex. 3rdly, I SAID JUSTIN... not JASON.

and most importantly... I said nothing like conformity. I said that people should act in acceptable social ways. You give Vegas as an example? All the "bad stuff" isn't done out in public, or in very unopen areas "clubs and not out in the open" or very late at night. Vegas behavior on the streets completely changes post 11pm compared to in the morning.

Even then, the difference of actions are major. Actions in vegas are more "inappropriate" in terms of values than it is maturity and social basics. Even in Sin City, people have the decency to know things such as "appropriate time and place".

As I've state before you are demanding conformity and I disagree...

Jason would have said "Mikey... are you making trouble again?" and I woulda said "Yes... we're harassing kids that think it's okay to grope each other and makeout in public because they believe going way beyond the ideas of public displays of affection.

Then Jason would have said something like "You two can't be doing that here and he'd appreciate it if they went back to their hotel room if the planned on continuing"

blahblah not important.

I'm hardly demanding conformity, as I am very much against conformity. Hmm...

Sure, let's just say I am demanding conformity... not that it means shit... because what's important is the level of conformoity. I could say "People shouldn't be allowed to have sex in public". And you'd still say "NO CONFORMITY IS BAD!". Wouldn't you? Because that's basically what you're doing here. Honestly, I don't really give a shit what you think at this point anymore, because I decided to ask about you from a couple of people. "Don't waste your time, he's just a grumpy old man who thinks his age makes him more knowing and intelligent than people" was the general response I got.

With Fanime '07 as close as it is to us, I think it's safe to lock this thread. =)

My comments:

SuperKawaiiNeko - Your final post was not needed and in no way added anything to this thread. Please don't post that again.

PassingTheBuck - You know the mods and admin's emails and contact information. I think that's faster than posting a reply here. :P

Zain - I don't want to give people the chance to jump onto this thread and flame one another.
