From ANN:

"Navarre Corporation CEO Cary Deacon reported during his company's Q3 2008 earnings conference call on Thursday that its Funimation anime distribution subsidiary was "in very early stages of negotiations to acquire some of the Geneon library of titles." He also noted that Geneon and A.D. Visions used funds from Japanese investors to raise their bids for recent anime licenses. Now that Geneon is no longer distributing in North America, there is a "downward pressure on pricing" in new anime licenses. The Geneon's anime market share stood at about 10%."

This is good news and hopefully it works out.

General Anime Chat / NewType USA to stop
January 09, 2008, 04:45:45 PM
Here the news from ANN
"Representatives of A.D. Vision (ADV) have contacted retail partners to inform them that the February issue of Newtype USA is to be the last. At this time it is unclear if this refers to the official February issue, which is set to go on sale later this month, or the March issue, which would go on sale in February.

According to reports from those contacted by ADV, the company is planning to replace Newtype USA with another magazine. No information about the new magazine is currently known."

So looks like it will end at 65 or 66 issues.  This sucks since I was enjoying the Kabuto manga insert each month and they had some good stuff.  I also read Anime Insider, Otaku USA and ANN's Protoculture Addicts so it won't be too big of a loss, but the dvds did allow me to hear the dubs for some anime before I got them.  I do hope that Clamp starts an actual manga for Kabuto.

Currently I have been trying to get an apartment but have been having trouble deciding on where and what I want.  If anyone on here has any helpful information to help me decide or advice or anything that would be great.

What I have come up with so far:
- Either a studio or 1bdr (can't decide which one)
- Near where I work (Menlo Park), 20mi max (looking at Mt. View right now)
- Willing to spend about $1200 maybe a little more (depends on what is included with the apt)
- Plan on moving during the early Spring (Jan-Feb) if possible

From ANN

"A flyer inserted into newly published books from MF Busho J, the light novel imprint owned by the production company Media Factory, has announced that a third television anime series has been greenlit for the Zero no Tsukaima fantasy comedy franchise. The announcement was made in conjunction with the 13th volume of the light novels, which are written by Noboru Yamaguchi and illustrated by Eiji Usatsuka. The 13th volume, Seikoku no World Door, will be released on December 20"

I hope it will be better than the second season

There will be a 3rd season of Higurashi sometime in 2008.

From ANN
"The official blog for the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni franchise on the Japanese Animate.tv website has announced that a third season has been greenlit for production. The blog entry says that no details have been decided, but it also says that people can look forward to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni in 2008. A live-action film had been previously announced for 2008."

This is great news (hopes it is true)

For this reason below:
"Now there are two Kugimiya Rie/Hino Satoshi series to look forward to (the other being the next Zero no Tsukaima series coming in July)"

Note: This is a RUMOR at the moment

Edit: link to post - http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?p=735061#post735061

Heres the info from a post on Animesuki forums:

Quote"That's correct, according to cyan-san, the same source who announced the new Evangelion movie (which is confirmed now) said that there will be a second season for Suzumiya Haruhi scheduled for next year (2007) Fall.

Also mentioned in that entry (and this was mentioned in a few other places as well) is a second season of Zero no Tsukaima in the works too (by JC Staff), also scheduled for next year Fall."

Now I know this is a rumor but I still hope this is true since both shows were great.  But with a second season of Zero no Tsukaima does that mean no season 2 of Shana yet?
