Well, tell your rat to look up my half-golden, JingJing. I'm sure they'll get along fine.

*hugs* to you.

Okay, let us know when you're coming into town. After the 26th is Foothill Anime in Los Altos, at Foothill College. The group usually heads to dinner after the anime!

*hugs* to your pet rat. (and you too, of course)

If we're all legal, there's always Murphy's Street in Sunnyvale. I can bring Apples to Apples or other party games for no good reason. Uh... What else is there to do in Sunnyvale? There *is* free music at a coffee cafe in Mountain View...

I should be moving back to Sunnyvale in a few, and I have a good friend that lives in Sunnyvale. So, when I get there, maybe we can all hang out together!

Do they enjoy anime?

How about dinner after No Name on June 14th?

Red Rock Cafe is a non-profit *and* a coffee house with live music:
http://www.redrockcoffee.org/calendar.php

And on Tuesday nights, we play Munchkin! :D

Well, here're some local anime groups to start you off:

* No Name Anime, Santa Clara. http://nnanime.com/
* Foothill Anime, Los Altos. http://foothill.anime.net/
* CA-West, Campbell. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CA-West/
* Tsunami Anime, San Jose. http://studiokyuu.com/tsunami/

If you're up for meeting people outside of anime, Meetup.com is a great social site. I'm on a Santa Clara walking group, myself.

No Name is on June 14th. Bring your resume and I can help critique it.

PM me if you have any questions!

Mebbe do it at Jerry's place?

See Jerry's thread for discussion!

I should do this. I live in Palo Alto, so anyone north could meet at my place, grab a bite to eat, then we'll carpool to San Jose. I can make Sunday, July 13th.

Tried Meetup.com? Quite a few SF groups there.

If you play boardgames and can make Foster City the last Saturday of the month, drop me a line!

Hmm. Are you already familiar with a Meetup.com group that does Japanese cultural stuff?

ININ and I live in South San Jose and Palo Alto. I'm not close enough to SF, unfortunately.

Not all comic book stores are giving away more than a few free comics or having sales.

Mountain View
* Comic Collector Shop: No limit on comics. 25% off sale, including manga.
* Lee's comics: 10% off sale.

Sunnyvale
* Comics Conspiracy: No limit on comics.
* R&K Comics: Storewide sale.

Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free* to anyone who comes into their stores.

1. What is "Free Comic Book Day?"

As the name implies, Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their stores.

2. When is Free Comic Book Day?

Free Comic Book Day is held the first Saturday in May each year. This year's event takes place on May 3, 2008.

3. Are they really free?

Yep!

Different stores have policies on how many free comics you can receive, but you will receive at least one free comic if you enter a participating store location. Check with your retailer for their policies and plans for FCBD.

See the site for your nearest participating store!

FCBD is a promotional event by the comic book industry held every year. Most comic book stores are participating, often with sales. I only saw a Shonen Jump free comic book, but there are some manga-inspired American comics.

Lee's Comics is located in Mountain View and San Mateo. Print out the Lee's web page and get 4 free comics, instead of 2.

Enjoy!

Would you be interested in coming to one of our softball games to help cheer us on? The games are played near San Jose, CA Airport on Thursday nights around 6pm. We'll make it a party and have our "chicken mascot" doing some crazy moves, and have you all create a ruckus to shock/awe the other team. We'll also hand out some free Gaia Gold while you're enjoying the ice cream and hanging out with us. Let's call it "Member Appreciation Night." I can get Lanzer out there too for autographs, pictures, and chillin' with you in the bleachers. Does anyone want Kiki to show? We'd love to have you there if you can make it (will probably be April 24).
