well there was a lightning (ff13) cosplayer that seemed pretty cool. unfortunately i was half passed out in my bed, barely upright and didnt bother asking for info or anything. such is the outcome of random encounters, but if she sees this, ill take some gardening and fertilizing tips (minor inside joke). good luck everyone

update, found a pic while looking through some galleries. although i dont want to post it here as that feels kinda stalkerish and from what i heard from a mutual friend sounds like she had her fill of that for the con. cute girl though, caucasian i think, good cosplay, seemed fun to talk to. if anyone knows her maybe i could pm the link to confirm

imma see if i can work my magic and get a good amv done before the deadline. a suggestion in the meantime, however. several years ago i entered an amv that was disqualified for language, which ive subsequently asked several friends about and they didnt think it was even worth batting an eye over. now, censoring the music goes against my artistic principles, but i remember the first amv contest i entered here there was a mature warning before certain amvs. i think this should be brought back to some degree. just something to push things just a bit farther so a good amv doesn't get thrown out over a minuscule cuss or something. there are plenty of college aged people that come to fanime, im sure theres a sizeable enough chunk that just flat out wouldnt care and would rather watch a more "mature" oriented amv even

I agree. There is something that we can do if it really needs it, but for now, most minor things are not going to DQ a video. If we come across a video that needs a warning, then we'll address it as it happens on an individual basis.

believe me, that is much appreciated. i mean i personally dont try to make it go overly adult, but at the same time most of the nice juicy hard hitting bits tend to not make for a kid friendly amv, but then the same could be said of most anime. i also happen to be using ga rei zero which while not quite elfen lied level, still has a good deal of dismemberment. all to be used in context of course

also, amv is running on schedule. will be ready by the soft deadline, easily

i will be there of course. as per usual. wont be any amv viewing this time though since my psp died on me. oh, and even though i probably shouldnt have to say this, i will anyway. no attention whoring. some of you know why. several probably could even think of a who. those that can will tell you JUST SAY NO. and we can all enjoy our moments of temporary self induced insanity in peace

im attempting to do a rail tracer/vino cosplay, but ive slowly been watching all my efforts go to waste lately. i wanted to do it last year as well so im gonna fight like hell to get it done, but sadly actually getting to fanime is more of a priority than the cosplay, which may turn out to be a deciding factor

hate to bring about another dissapointment but it looks like im gonna have to drop out this year too. due to unforeseen circumstances it looks like im gonna have to cut part of my cosplay budget. ill probably try and make it for next year, but depending on how much i bulk up it may not entirely look right. although it would look funny for the student to have more muscle than the master

*dances* Yay, still the only hiko then! Thank you Jang! Im really hoping to be the only one, lol. Makes it more fun. On a side note, pounds are slowly dropping, muscles are building, ima be a fuckin awesome hiko ^^ Im a really big guy, so by the time this rolls around, ill be pretty good for this. Ahm, sorry..not sure if anyone really cares about my diet, I just like to boast xD

lol. this ought to be interesting. im a pretty big guy too despite the fact that im cosplaying kenshin. hopefully the clothing will disguise that a little. especially in the arms, im going to do a cosplay of a rather large guy and his arms are HUGE. itd be funny if the master looked smaller than the student lol

for me its just the random things that happen at the convention. theres always something great and random that just wouldnt happen somewhere else. cosplayer jesus outside in front of the protestors comes to mind. i never really have much money to buy anything, and i havent really had much of a chance at cosplaying until this year but its always a great place to hang out and get some fun people together and have some laughs at the expense of those who fail among other things
#31
eh, really unlikely maybe? ill probably still come and hang out but not likely as sol
#32
ive been sick for a while so a lot of my plans have taken a real nosedive. sadly i dont think ill be able to manage sol this time. next year is a good possibility though
#33
id love to cosplay dante but sadly i doubt ill have the money to do so. i might show up depending on timeframe, but sadly i think itll be another year before i manage to really participate
#34
ive been toying with the idea of doing ova kenshin so well see how it turns out

TOOOMOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEE!

yeah, lelouche is sort of a cosplay favorite. my one friend wants me to do it just because i kind of naturally have his bored look and personality. who knows, maybe i can find me a nice c.c. or kallen along the way

Akiba > any con in terms of swag, so my trip to japan this year was the highest tier on that aspect. :P

Anyway, since I didn't go to AX this year (which was replaced by said trip), I'll say it's definitely who you hang out with that determines how much fun I have IMO. A con can have the best guests in the animeverse, but it will still suck if you go alone. In a sense, I can't really put AX above Fanime, or vis versa since I got to hangout with cool people either way. ;o

On a side note, didn't Yoko Ishida come to this year's AX? BAAAAAAAAWWWWW

quick question, did you happen to cosplay rangiku at the san fran gathering about a month back?

oh, and ill have to remember about akiba for when i go in a year or so
#37
well, im having to adjust some of my plans temporarily anyway, so id really be surprised if i couldnt manage to get it done by then. of course, i doubt ill be quite as ripped as sol by then, but hey, who is?
#38
regular sol. but ive still got other costumes i want done beforehand. along with a massive computer overhaul. but i think the chances are good since theres basically a whole year of time to get everything done
#39
i might be up for it, depending on how much costume making skill i can acquire in the time until next year. if nothing else ill at least drop by, assuming i wake up for it. if i do cosplay though ill be going for sol badguy

i thought they both had their good and bad points, but i cant really say much for anime expo because i was sick for two days and the remaining time i was basically just avoiding getting sick again. the cosplay at anime expo seemed to be of better quality, but on the other hand it was mainly based around certain shows which was a bit of a letdown. there were more people and a bigger dealers room, but that isnt necessarily a good thing. i did have this one girl randomly come up to me in the dealers room to read my shirt, which i ironically bought at fanime, and watch her walk off going "oh no, no, no" when she finally realized the end of the equation was "girls=evil." that was a pretty funny experience

for the most part though, id say fanime is more of a "get together with everyone" type of deal, where anime expo kinda goes into the clique of "im cosplaying this anime!" maybe next year ill have a better understanding of both, assuming i dont get sick again
