Hahaha..I'd nudge my husband towards the Sebastian role, if I thought he'd do it. He's fine with -dressing- as Sebastian, but he's still warming up to him in a character capacity, and I'm not sure if he'd feel fully comfortable yet with "performing".
Maybe he'll have to watch whoever DOES come in and get some ideas!

ALMOST NO ONE IS :D Well, I've done RP online, because I am sad. And others I know like the Grell who is participating do active cosplay shoots.. with me.. so always in character.
But it doesn't matter how terribly in character someone may be right now, I mean it is a few months away .u. as long as they look fabulous other characters are always willing to assist.

Well, his gentlemanly qualities and his 6'3" stature was what made me suggest to him that he check out Sebastian as a costume idea in the first place. He watched through the anime series, and seemed to like it overall, but I wasn't sure he would actually DO the costume until one day I saw him watching Gordon Ramsay and he says "...I'm doing research." :o Next thing I know, I had a Sebastian for my Grell at YaoiCon.
But any interest on his part would be blocked by a) at least one cosplay gathering and b) masquerade prep. Not knowing the times yet, I'd HATE to get him excited about it and then figure out he couldn't do it.
(and hey, I used to do a lot of RP online. But then cosplay happened, and since my creative pea-brain can only focus on one hobby at a time, something had to go XD).

It does! We have other things too, of course, but the costume hobby is the one we commit the most time into. It utilizes a lot of smaller interests (sewing, crafting, and performing mostly) in one place!

We have the gathering on the radar, so if the panel can't happen, the panel is an alternative. Our schedule is like an unbuilt puzzle right now...a bunch of pieces lying about, waiting for their place and where they fit without burning us out completely. When more info comes through (for example, panel dates/times, when the Masquerade is this year), we can be more certain of what we can and can't do.

That's right! It's all about a "balanced diet" of stuff for us. We like a full schedule, but not at the expense of our stress levels, because we want to be having fun...if it's not fun, you don't want to do it, you get bitter...and that's not good for anybody :)

This is a really cool idea, I cosplay Beast but I've not had any time to act in character for her so I'm not sure I'd do well if I signed up :S
I almost wonder if it'd be far off to suggest with anyone you have apps for to do like a tinychat session with everyone in character/costume to help/test people for how they'd do..?

You can do a call with skype between multiple people but unless someone is paying or hasn't used their free trial yet you can't do video with a group, Tinychat may lag a bit but it has the ability to have a group of people on camera and chatting at the same time. I just figure that part of being in character is also how you act so I had originally suggested Tinychat since people can go hop in costume and maybe have like a conversation go on for a bit in character then stop for a few minutes out of character and discuss how people did and help anyone

I can't wear full cosplay at the moment anyway xD my poor Beast outfit must have got hit by Sebastian's rocks again since one of the strings across the front snapped so I'm having to redo the entire lace up on the front. Even if people just wanna wear wigs though that's cool, I mostly just mean like being able to help with facial expressions, actions, ect. which you'd see on cam when talking ya know?

Hmmmmmmmmmm, I'm highly tempted to apply... if I set the Pandora Hearts gathering a bit earlier I'd have time to change and get back I think. Well I'll get a nicer picture of her up then apply, worse case I'd have to drop but she's not a super main character so I guess it wouldn't hurt the panel much.

I'm fine with that, I just won't eat. I have a dinner planned after the panel. XD
I am really only going to need a maximum of 30 minutes for briefing before the panel. Before if anyone wishes, but I will be changing from another cosplay haha. (-le winks-) Jokes aside! I will do a quick briefing, we get to know each other, and our comfort levels for question answering and activities.
Please, I ask again. Suggest any ideas you think would be fun! I will have a working iPod jack, and can easily gather and songs if there are interesting ideas.
Q/A are obvious, as it is the title of the panel! But we can be as silly as we please (in character though or I will snap, in character, and lecture.... Actually we can have so much fun, just guidelines :D )

We actually have a butler Grell and regular Grell, in best hopes I won't regret that choice! But they will be far separated, and expected to be in their canon roles, meaning, butler Grell can't be as ridiculous, and more suicidal. All of that.
It shouldn't cause a problem, if so, I'll sort it out... Like the dilemma with a Beast and Smile, sadly I haven't been able to catch up on the circus.. either way!

In that case if your wanting a more difference in personality between versions of characters forget about Smile, I don't think he's too different in personality enough to work. I can just make references to you, Sebastian and Ciel about the circus arc as long as everyone has read it
(it's fairly short so even just brushing by it shouldn't be too bad).
Firemage1000, I have yet to receive a Madame Red application, if we are lucky I suppose? Sitting with the Phantomhive's would be acceptable, as I will keep my reaper Grell under a closer supervision and all of that bother.
Hopefully no issue there, a little iffy on it haha.

And Heidi, I have only really heard cosplay voice actors who I thought were close to a canon in well, Japanese. You could try to do the British dialect dub if you please, maybe less rough than she is haha. May be a lady, but my British can fool the ears if done right~! I'm so happy you can confirm 100%!

As far as speaking like the characters, I hadn't even considered that until now. D| I'm pretty sure my "British accent" is probably laughable, and right now the most I can manage is sounding like the uppity Prince of Derpingham. I guess I picked a nice time to marathon Doctor Who. Time to just... study the crap out of that...
I can confirm for this completely. Still working on badgering my Alois however. Also I will say that as far as accents go, I may only use a very weak one if any at all. I have the fortune of being a first soprano and that makes speaking like a male quite difficult at times so in order to even sound remotely proper I need to speak a bit slowly and carefully, which kind of works for Claude regardless sense spiders are patient beasts the majority of the time. In any case I hope this won't be an issue. Also if no one else seems willing to sit by my dearest crow I certainly wouldn't mind invading his personal space, particularly if I end up being a single house hold representative.
Accents aren't really something required, I am just a lover of the theater. So I see this as ACTING! Gwafauh!
Haha and it helps mask my feminine voice! Cross-playing is a dedication my friends!
I wish we were able to scrounge up some more Circus, otherwise our Beast may place near characters she would be familiar with from the storyline.
And as for my pair of demons here, I wouldn't hope for any mischief from you troublesome two, but of course our currently lone member of the Trancy household could do the shipping fans of the audience a grace and share each others sides, it would work most efficiently if the seating works the way I hope! Just sectioning everyone off can be a difficult task, goodness.
And I do intend to keep this thread full of life! It is a much more modivational happening rather than all bothering around in the dark about our lovely little panel.

I kind of feel saddened when an otherwise awesome panel, doesn't have a mega-Hollywood-blockbuster-glitter!EVERYWHERE kind of ending.

Mr. Faustus, I do not now, nor do I ever, wish for you to sing or demonstrate to me the Spider Song. I am sure it is quite a lovely song, amongst your people, but I am not a spider and I am sure I will not fully appreciate the deep and meaningful cultural complexities of it all.
Why not extend your offer to Mr. Sutcliff? Given his... ... ... ... ... ...nature, I'm sure he would find it much more intriguing than I.

I like the idea of ending it with a "bang," and fits with this particular series' tendency for silliness. It might also help if our ending was one of the pre-planned conversations as well, so we're not ending right in the middle of someone's question.
I'm not sure if those ideas are good or not but um, yeah. n_n;;

Yeah it's unfortunate there aren't many circus cosplayers at Fanime :< there were a few at AX but I never have seen many at Fanime before... I know raenef said she'd be wearing Snake at some point around the con but that's about the only other circus person I know of other than my friend.

-life just got easier HUZZAH-I think that would help a lot to just be able to pop things in like that if there is a pause in questions are people aren't warming up to the panel fast enough, always loosens people up to see characters messing with each other! ;D I like the thought of some sort of opening and closing thing as well to the panel just so the start and ending are tied off nicely and looks more official.

Well, Sebastian would fit well serving tea to Ciel and possibly some sort of cake so I don't see how everyone else having something wouldn't be too bad. I've seen ask gatherings with the entire table covered in candy they munched on.... ooo I wonder if it could be Funtom candy~ <3

There is nothing wrong with lusting after Mister Michaelis, however I have all ready put considerable effort and time into establishing a claim to him and as I am sure you know, we demons can be rather, territorial....please keep your counterpart in check if you could.
(I wouldn't say it's too much out of line given that we are more or less testing out how we would interact in character. At least I view it in such a manner as that. Especially since we haven't been able to establish a general time or date to converse in any other way. If it is a problem though I expect we will be notified.)

Just a thought of ending the panel, we could end the way the anime does with an "ending song". One of the official ones is I'm Alive by Becca which is sung in English which I think we could all could pull off.
Note: Apparently Butler Grell can sing opera, and Sebastian playing 1 violin sounds like a full orchestra.
Yes, I'm rewatching the anime since in the manga butler grell is in like 7 panels total.
That sounds like a really fun idea! Though imagining the Kuro group lined up like a choir and singing makes me want to giggle. Also do we have an idea what our time frame is going to be? I myself am a confident singer and preformer. As well as Role Player for William T. Spears as the main reason I cosplay him was from when I was told to start RPing as him months before /last/ fanime haha.

I am assuming 30 minutes or so for the Q and A would be respectable? I am unsure of the tunout, because honestly this is my first panel, well, ever. And that could be after a slight intro I have timed out an given each character a moment to explain themselves. Like a small funny icebreaker. This whole event can be like an awkward party but with people who an uncomfortable with each other. A forced social convention haha.

Should we have the lyrics memorized or just be familier with them? They are in english which makes my life so much easier. Can we practice before the panel? I think it would be great if everyone could sing (or try to in my case) at the end.
As for snacks, I don't think we should eat durring the panel, but in true butler form, I will have a large thermos of tea and a (breakable) tea set as a part of my costume which I can share before and after the panel. I also will be bringing in tiny fake plants in the shape of cartoon skulls.
I remember last year they had trouble managing getting everyone in and out of the room so I'd plan on doing a 45 minute panel full of stuff because inevitably people leaving and entering the room will take time.
Question about proper names. In relevance to our characters, are we using Japanese pronouns(san, sama) , or are we americanizing and using (Mr., Miss, Madam, first names)
Ex: Butler Grell --> Sebastian: Would I say Sebastian-sama (like in the anime) or Mr. Sebastian or just Sebastian?
Americanization is familiarity. Well, what rolls off the tongue honestly. Native speaking of English, coupled with a British accent for some will make the Mr, Mz, or Madame titles much more.. understood. I would recommend staying against any Japense titles or additions.
As for the signing, our time is already limited, so I would opt against a sing along at the end. It would also jot be an inclusive act for the the whole cast.
Also, think of the formality of the character. Myself, I would address Grell as Mr. Sutcliff or Sutcliff for poniency , while Sebastian with less respect to be called simply by his last name, or first an last with no title beforehand.
As said before I am hoping for at most 30 minutes of briefing before the panel for clarification guidelines and a general rundown.
I will actually say no food is tolerable during the panel, tea and water is fine as we will all likely be taking for a good period of time.
It wouldn't be a sing along for the crowd...I was thinking it was something the cast could end on as it is an ending theme at the very end of the panel (like last minute and a half)

I'm curious as to the general planned time line as well. Of course, I'm sure it'll change as we get closer and during the actual panel itself, but it's reassuring to know that in case our audience just decides to be quiet that night that we have something planned as backup.

It's sounding like I'll have to have my whip coiled up while I walk around the con but I feel like it'd work better if I can have it out during the panel just for looks and such, so I just wanted to know if there was any ruling on that by staff or not.

It would be nice to have more people filming it...it will be fun!
There have been a couple mentions of filming the panel and I will allow anyone to do so as long as they clarify with me before the panel where they will be setting up. Otherwise it won't be a bother.
As for the whole "swapping butlers" or otherwise that is more of a time consuming confusing blunder than expected. Anything that requires multiple character standing or moving will be for one not entertaining to watch the struggle and also a bother for the whole cast. It would be comical, but we do have limited time.
As much as I would normally be the one to bring a hose and water balloons there will be ABSOLUTELY no water propelling devices or otherwise. My spit take comment was more of a silly comment for any surprises we would all reply with. But I don't want to have any costumes or technology at risk.
As for tricks or jokes during the show? Alot like theater, where there is a gag show if your cast is close. But seeing as we only have one panel, an our first time together, I would prefer it remain less silly to prank each other. Of course ask me otherwise, as I will gladly make objections if I find why is intended to do as non-intrusive of another comfort or would not be a distraction (aside from the hopeful entertainment it offers)
Ash, as for personal things like holy water, or whatnot, that is completey fine and rather silly.
Wolftale, as much as we all love our props, I am afraid if the convention wishes to keep your whip on your person, I will have to comply. Though to hold it? I don't see any issue. Just make sure that you are the only one handling it. Like a prop for an ongoing photoshoot.

The butler swapping was again my friends idea...I just put the ideas up here...she's full of ideas it's a shame she won't be coming to fanime...oh well I understand it would be way to difficult to move around.
Suggestions are all well and open, much easier to sort if anyone had an idea to message me :3
But anyone who does try to think of something simple, with hopefully little movement? Or, if a within cast prank, something thy could continue the panel during, but of course it could be rather funny.

Pardon my intrusion please, but I feel I must interject.
Mister Michaelis and I have conferred and we formally request there be no whipping of the demons in any form if you please. I will quote him for effect as stating that he 'does not have his kinky boots and does not put them on for reasons which you may think he puts them on.'
(also any little jokes that myself, my girlfriend and our friend are plotting are all doable without moving much at all and should not be distracting beyond providing a little humor for the audience.)

Those are indeed the boots in question, and are quite remarkably suiting to him, in my opinion at least. Still, you needn't be afraid at this time.

Well yes you do have the point that they are not fitting for him, but the boots would look marvelous center ring under the spot lights of a circus tent. I believe they would suit my apparel much better than his...
(hmm, I tend to make most of my props from scratch so not too sure... are you looking for something to alter orrrr?)
(I don't know I found one that might work...it's more rounded and actually look like the sword...this one was just a last minute thing to finish te costume....)

(I would go off your best judgement of what you feel is more accurate or would fit the costume you have, tends to be easier just to match with the costume itself since in the end it's the overall look of that than the accuracy itself.)
Tsk.... It is a shame that our circus does not accept side shows, you would make an exceptional freak show addition if it were the case. Oh well....

Hm that does bring up a point though, in the panel how much should we let onto knowing about other characters if we were asked a question? Such as Beast really doesn't know anyone besides William, Sebastian and Ciel so would it make more sense to just act oblivious to other characters or all have a fair amount of understanding of each others characters if the question ever popped up that implied a character that your own character might not have met in the series.
I hope that makes sense I feel like I phrased it a little funny...

As far as the "swapping butlers" thing, or any similar ideas, maybe we can make use of notecard prompts? I think some talk shows do this, where they have the host ask the person on their show some pre-planned questions. If it's something like that, we could turn the butler swapping thing into a question, like "How would you feel/What would you do if you had to switch household's" or something along those lines. At least then if there's not a lot of Q & A, we could input our own stuff and call it something like... fan mail questions.. or something else silly. ]

I would think that as an ask panel we might have the freedom to interact and respond regardless of how the direct series relations go? it might seem kind of strange if certain people were completely ignoring others who may be sitting close to them during the panel. So maybe to think of it like an 'ask the cast' kind of scenario? Sort of how kuro itself goofed around with the whole 'making of' ovas..if I made any sense at all x_X )

Just food for thought--would it make more sense to place the more "central" characters (sebastian, ciel, etc.) together and in the center, or perhaps split them up (logically, maybe according to house?) but spread apart so that one side doesn't mysteriously disappear halfway through the panel?
I've been to a couple of panels where it started off with everyone sharing, but by the end all the concentration moved to one side for the remainder--thus rendering the other panelists ignored.

I was planning on "messing" up my introduction, apologizing and then trying to stab myself. I promise it will only be played for comedic affect, and won't be distracting from any other of the characters.
And if any questions are directed to me(I highly doubt it though unless my friends are being...well my friends) I might try again....other than me bringing a "skull" hedge and will just sit there quietly looking as awkward as possible.

Since there isn't a Madam Red on the panel, the best placement is probably with the Phantomhive Staff. After all, I was on a loan to Ciel for a short time in the vain hope that I'd pick up some proper butler skills from Sebastian.
You may be the perfect divider between our young Elizabeth ad the rest of the Phantomhive house staff. Goodness the more I think on this the more complications I can predict haha. Either way! It will be smooth sailing. And I'll inform everyone of seating as soon as I make a little chart. Because charts are awrsome. . . Fuck yeah charts and lists....

I'd love to know where people are getting good contacts for shinigami, I need a pair for my Grell cosplay eventually since I had to settle for a pair of yellow-ish gold contacts after not being satisfied from the selection I was looking through. (though they'll look nice as temporary, just not series exact I don't think)

I use Hollywood contacts...really intense color ( my eyes are naturally dark brown and they turn acid green) and 3 pairs of different colors for ~45...which I need because my eyes need to be green for one costume, blue for another, and golden for a third.
Also I'd rather be organized and ready for the panel than have chaos before....organization FTW
They have a one year life span, yellow inner fading to a shinigami green. . . These need to be inserted into my eye sockets promptly.....

LOL I was concerned about it since after an hour it was getting a bit restricted while I was doing the make up but I wore it for a few hours today at a gathering with some friends and managed to survive so I think I'll be alright xD I think I just had it on weird

I'm sure what each of us may say will change at the panel itself, but I'm just curious what others are generally going to include (some may need longer explanations, obviously), and how to make it quirky.
Naturally, I think Mr. Sebastian has the easy catch phrase all ready to go, since we shouldn't all say "I'm just one hell of a ____."

I think having a little surprise for our fellow panelists would always be fun uvu but of course if someone is unsure they could ask another for advice.
I would simply reccomend,
1. Who you are,
2. What you do,
3. And maybe one extra thing, ex. What you think about doing the panel?
Like for me, William T. Spears, Supervisor of the Dispatch Managment Division of the Shinigami and all that bother I shouldn't have memorized. Best if we keep them rather small, but done with confidence mhm mhm

If you like Sabien, I just thought it would be more entertaining and manageable without flooding inboxes to simply have causal communication over facebook, much more widely used and understood than other social networking sites. It also offers the ability to chat or even practice RP. (has had my fair sad share of FB RP....)

I've been hurriedly working on a friend's cosplay and organizing my plans.
( what is it about cons that, three days before the event, everything starts falling apart aofeinaw ).

Any way I not only managed to fix my badge. But I also mad two of Angela's costumes to debute at the con. Man I've been a busy bee. But it's all done. All I need to do is pack it all up.
William was completed months ago. Other costumes finally pulling together!
My Hannah cosplay is finished. Although, my wig is a bit too....purple for her character. I tried my best to find a silvery blue wig but to no avail. The only one's I had found were much too dark and would only work in extremely bright light. :/
I did have a question about the panel though. Would we be able to meet up beforehand so that we will all be able to meet and go over what to expect at the panel?

I suggested the panel be set as a 16+ and it is marked as such on the Fanime schedule. I am personally all for the fun of sexuality, and by knowing the rest of our cast it could be something rather comical

I ship Matilda and Sebastian....I think it's cute....but as fans we do ship unusual pairs (Vincent and Sebastian for instance....it's real I've seen it!!!!)
