Okach, thanks for the confirmation XD  My friends are happy they can proceed in their planned B&W cosplays.

@Okach, definitely please clarify the dress code regarding boots.  It's going to affect some cosplayers.  I know a few cosplayers who wears boots, and their cosplays look great wearing them to the B&W ball.  I follow the rules =)

Moreover, I believe you rubber sole shoes can mark up the dance floor.  I avoid pivoting lol ;) Seriously, what if my shoes or boots pass the simple test and B&W staff says I can't enter the ball when they inspect my footwear?

tkdteo, I want to follow up on your boots for cosplay.  I cosplayed Allen Walker and I was allowed in wearing my boots.  Obviously some D. Gray Man cosplayers wear boots with rubber soles (and it's a good B&W cosplay).  Boots and all footwear with rubber soles are not allowed whether we cosplay or dress semi-formal or formal?

I may be making the no rubber sole rule complicated.  I'm concern others who wear dress shoes thinking, "I'm wearing dress shoes so I'm okay" and not worry about their dress shoes with rubber soles.  All my dress shoes have rubber soles.  Thanks for reading.

I can make this gathering.  I'm cosplaying Allen Walker from D. Gray Man.  There should be quite a few D. Gray Man cosplayers because the B&W Ball is Sun evening ^^

Avairrianna, is Saturday confirmed?  For me, Sat is booked with two others gatherings that are confirmed Sat.

Honestly nothing has been confirmed yet but there aren't many spots for the 60+ gatherings because we ALL pretty much have to be in the same place. Sapphire has yet to get back to us about any of the gatherings yet.

I just read Sapphire's updates and your update above.  I'm sorry I can't make the gathering :(  Last year was my first video game cosplay gathering and it was awesome!

Count me in for Sat at 1pm  :)

Are we meeting at the flowerbed in front of the convention or on the Marriott side?

Yeah for Shiro-chan!!
;D
(Hm, does this mean I need to come up with another Santa-san surprise? hmm)

Shiro-chan is growing up.  I wonder if he can think of a surprise, too  ;)

Lol, how did the San Jose Sharks get into the conversation.  We don't know if they're going to the playoffs this year.

I remember Fanime '04 the arcade games were on the con floor at the Marriott side.  Fanime '05 the artist alley tables were on the con floor.

Fanime '03 was the only time we occupied the entire Santa Clara Convention Center.  I'm sure Fanime '00-Fanime'02 there were other events and we shared the convention center.  I remember one year there were high school volleyball games.  I'm not sure when Fanime occupied the entire San Jose Convention Center.  I know it wasn't Fanime '04.

The first FanimeCon was also in June. :P

Corrected, thanks.

So this year, all dance lessons and the Black and White Ball will be located in Parkside Hall.  Parkside Hall is located next to the Tech Museum and there will be signs at FanimeCon to direct you to our new venue.  So make plans to come out and join us for dance lessons and the Black and White Ball!  See you there!

Thanks for posting the great news!  May I suggest you post the location of Parkside Hall on the official Fanime website =D  I found out where Parkside Hall is located on this post.

Team San Jose has a website on Parkside.  Jim is corrected.  The hall is huge ^__^

Please add me as Toshiro Hitsugaya p:>

This year I stopped taking pics of cosplayers because I want to be a 100% true cosplayer.  I make an exception and I take pics of everyone at the gathering.  I want to help make inoli's first Bleach gathering a blast!

I approve Saturday.  The Bleach gathering is 3:30pm.  Anytime before 2pm is good for me ^__^

The Sat group met in front of the fountains on the Hilton side.  I don't know Sunday's group because I went on Sat.

My suggestion is we meet in front of the fountains, I mean flowerbed, close to San Carlos Street.  In other words, the opposite side of the convention entrance.  My thinking is we are away from people going in and out of the con.  We have an easier time setting up for poses and the photographers have space to take pics  :)

This year I stopped taking pics of cosplayers so I can be a true 100% cosplayer.  I make an exception and be both a photographer and cosplayer because CLAMP gatherings have always been fun!

Fanime Con has been in the Bay Area for a long time.  The first Fanime took place at CSU Hayward (which is now CSU East Bay) in 1994.  Post Fanime facts to share and think how Fanime has grown.  Here are a few below:

Fanime '98 Took place on Valentine's Weekend Feb 14-15.

Fanime '00 First time the con was four days.  It went back to three days for '01-'03.

Fanime '01 Daylight savings time switch.  It also rained.  The next time it rained on Fanime was last year.

Fanime '03 Second time it happened in June, and two weeks before AX.  And there were no lines in the dealer's room.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Which hotel to pick???
January 12, 2012, 02:29:26 PM
I stayed at the Marriott 2009 and earlier.  I stayed at the Fairmont in 2010 and Hilton in 2011 both for the first time.  My choice between the Fairmont and the Hilton is the Fairmont.  Yes, it's more expensive than the Hilton.  You're paying for bigger rooms, better bathrooms, spacious areas, and lots of open space good for roommates =)  I really mean it--lots of open space.  The walk to and from the con is not that bad :)

I plan on going back to the Fairmont in 2012.

All cosplayers must cherish our picks in front of the fountains :D  Fanime '12 is a challenge for us cosplayers organizing gatherings.
