To plug the upcoming StarCraft II computer game, I'll be hosting a Fantasy Flight Games StarCraft Celebration event at Gamesday, April 17th, at the Los Altos Library. The StarCraft game starts at 10am. We have three seats left.

I'll also have other Blizzard FFG games to play throughout the day:
* World of Warcraft: The Boardgame
* World of Warcraft: The Adventure Game
* Warcraft

The StarCraft boardgame is on the complicated side, but if you can play Munchkin or Magic, you should be able to pick up the Warcraft games.

Send me a PM if you'd like to reserve a seat!

Cedric.

ps. Free random anime for anyone who reminds me to bring 'em. Ditto for the teeny-tiny Fantasy Flight Games Cthlhu mini's.

I know quite a few of you play Munchkin, so I figured I'd post here.

MiMV meets every Tuesday at 7:00PM at Red Rock Coffee at 201 Castro St, Mountain View, CA 94041. Join us for Munchkin and other board games! If you like the Munchkin series of card games by Steve Jackson, you should join us! We meet weekly on Tuesdays at Red Rock Cafe in Mountain View. Munchkin is a unique parody card game where you kill monsters, get treasure, and stab your friends in the back. There's a whole lot of sneakiness and fun involved. Experienced players and Newbies alike are welcome.

Myself, I bring along Dominion. If you like Magic, you'll like Dominion. If you like Magic, but had to quit playing it, you'll may like it even more... :D

Anyone interested in a Christmas exchange?

I know CA-West usually has one, but we can do this all over the Bay Area.

Guidelines:
* List which anime events and clubs you will be at in December. List a date and time.
* Bring a gift to each event/club.
* Examples: Two or three manga, a DVD, a plushie, several boxes of Pokey, whatever.

Feel free to suggest how you want to do the swap at the event you're attending.

I'll be at:
* Anime Palace, 12/13, 11am.
* No Name Anime, 12/13, break.

I can be at:
* Foothill Anime, First Sunday in December, break.

LOS ANGELES – Dr Pepper is making good on its promise of free soda now that the release of Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" is a reality.

The soft-drink maker said in March that it would give a free soda to everyone in America if the album dropped in 2008. "Chinese Democracy," infamously delayed since recording began in 1994, goes on sale Sunday.

"We never thought this day would come," Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "But now that it's here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us."

Beginning Sunday at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site. They'll be honored until Feb. 28.

Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free* to anyone who comes into their stores.

1. What is "Free Comic Book Day?"

As the name implies, Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their stores.

2. When is Free Comic Book Day?

Free Comic Book Day is held the first Saturday in May each year. This year's event takes place on May 3, 2008.

3. Are they really free?

Yep!

Different stores have policies on how many free comics you can receive, but you will receive at least one free comic if you enter a participating store location. Check with your retailer for their policies and plans for FCBD.

FCBD is a promotional event by the comic book industry held every year. Most comic book stores are participating, often with sales. I only saw a Shonen Jump free comic book, but there are some manga-inspired American comics.

Lee's Comics is located in Mountain View and San Mateo. Print out the Lee's web page and get 4 free comics, instead of 2.

Would you be interested in coming to one of our softball games to help cheer us on? The games are played near San Jose, CA Airport on Thursday nights around 6pm. We'll make it a party and have our "chicken mascot" doing some crazy moves, and have you all create a ruckus to shock/awe the other team. We'll also hand out some free Gaia Gold while you're enjoying the ice cream and hanging out with us. Let's call it "Member Appreciation Night." I can get Lanzer out there too for autographs, pictures, and chillin' with you in the bleachers. Does anyone want Kiki to show? We'd love to have you there if you can make it (will probably be April 24).

I have two boardgaming groups meeting on Saturday, 2/23:

Bay Area Peninsula Gamers, Foster City, until 5pm
South San Jose Gamers, South San Jose, 4pm to midnight

Both groups play Eurogames. The Foster City group also plays complex hobby games, and I'll bring StarCraft: The Boardgame, and Arkham Horror. I'm iffy on attending the South San Jose group, which also plays party games. (The SSJ meets at a Baker's Square, so please make a food purchase.) Neither group plays Munchkin or Magic, but if you can handle either, you can play these games. Drop me a PM for info and feel free to make a request of games I should bring (Fantasy Flight Games and Steve Jackson Games, such as Munchkin). I live in Palo Alto, so can carpool from there.

As mentioned at the BAAS Get Together, I'll be hosting a game of Arkham Horror at BAP in Foster City. The game should start around 12pm or 1pm.

Anyone south of Palo Alto is welcome to carpool from my house. We'll meet around 11am and have something quick for lunch then play!

Games played at BAP are mostly Eurogames (abstract strategy games) or American boardgames (rules at the complexity level of Magic).
