Hey CaptainYossarian, and all others interested in Cthulhu, I now have Mansions of Madness, and will likely bring that.

That sounds really fun. I haven't played it before, but I've heard its quite good. Count me in.

To keep this from becoming about a gun law debate, I will say that we wouldn't have to go to arizona to get firearms. In a zombie  apocalypse, laws break down and Big5 is always full of guns and ammo here in cali.(and any abandoned law enforcement and military buildings)

Fair enough. But we would have to organize supply runs, which would be dangerous duty.

QuoteI'm guessing we would have to give up the first floor of the convention center since there's so many glass doors and larges window. They could easily see us and break through. On the second floor we would have narrow entrances that could be sealed off.

I agree--you could also fit a lot of people in those show rooms. Of course, its also a double headed sword--if we hole up, there's nowhere to run.

Frankly, without access to Chainsaws or Zombie Repellent, I'm not sure how much good fortification would do. In straight-up hand-to-hand the restless dead tend to have a significant advantage in terms of strength and durability, and I don't give us great chances. Maybe if we draw straws we can use the unlucky ones as bait while the rest of us escape to Arizona where they have easier carry laws. :p

I know this is really odd, but I'd like see some of the people responsible for creating the stuff watch and enjoy. We had Hiroyuki Yamaga last year, and that was awesome, but I'd love to see some more along the same lines.

So, I guess its a little early to be thinking about this, but are either of you interested in reprising for round 2 next  year? I've picked up Dunwitch and will probably have Innsmouth by the con, so there should be a bit more spice. Anyone else, is of course, welcome to join, although 3 should be fine, as its really the optimal number of investigators in terms of time investment.

Well, I went back this year (although I missed the first 2 hours  :'() and I can say that it was just as rockin' as the last time, but I didn't see any other con attendees, which I was a little sad to see, but understandable. It was a little less of adventure this year (perhaps a good thing--it's nice not to get the con bug) but no less fun, and I know I'll be back once again, and once again invite anyone who desirer's to come too.

I sadly couldn't make this year, but I heard there were some solo dance numbers as well as a little bit of popular music, so in a purely preemptive move to avoid any possibility Wedding Schlock assaulting my ears, I've preemptively complied a comprehensive list of every famous Soul/Motown/Funk/RnB/Blues song that isn't:

1: RESPECT ~ Aretha Franklin
2: YMCA ~ Village People
3: Celebration ~ Kool and the Gang
4: We Are Family ~ Kool and the Gang
5: I Feel Good ~ James Brown
6: Play that Funky Music White Boy ~ Wild Cherry

So hopefully I never have to hear any one of those ever again at least at Fanime.

Most people still know these songs, even if they don't know they know it--they're also some of the most eminently danceable stuff ever written so even if they don't normally listen to this stuff, they should still have a good time.  All of it is as good, or better than those six, and have the distinct advantage of not being disgustingly overplayed. Obviously the list is huge, so I don't expect it in all or even in part to be used, but I figured I should probably offer up some verity if I'm going to kvetch. As I said before, though, this move is purely preemptive, and you might not have been planning anything like I've feared, so if that's the case, simply disregard this message.

Also, feel fee to use any of them that fit the partner dances too! It'd be fun to hear (for me at least, heh :p). Many of these (especially Reet Petite) are very easy swings.

You can find all the songs, pretty much in order, on this Grooveshark playlist: http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/playlist/Dance+Set/31758268

Quoteok ok, enough with this classical stuff, I know nobody listens to this stuff.

Well, technically Schubert and Rachmaninoff are Romantics, so nobody would listen to them if you called them--no, I kid, I'm not actually that much of an ass. ;p

It's probably a little bit of a long shot, but the person I'd really like to see come out here is Goro Taniguichi. I know he's done American cons in the past, but that was before Code Geass when he was a much smaller name. I would ask all sorts of annoying Planetes questions, though. ;D

The other people I'd really like to see are Kenji Kamiyama, but he's coming to AX this year, so thats pretty much out, or Yoko Kanno, but thats just a little ridiculous.

PC gaming was a lot of fun but throughly under-attended. I found when you set up your own machine you'd eventually attract company, and I met a few cool people while I was there, but it was so unpublicized, not a terrible lot of people brought there machines or even knew it existed. What it really needs next year is a sort of "critical mass" of people hanging about at all times just to get things started.

QuoteWhen does their protesting start to infringe on our rights? Aren't there any laws or rules that could prevent them from bringing the bullhorn? For the most part I tried to ignore them (I don't much mind the signs), but that one day I could hear them IN the convention center, which is ridiculous.

Well, short of a protracted constitutional battle, we'll never be able to stop them from protesting, however, it they were that loud, there might be city ordinances that could at least make them shut off any amplification they were using.

I scored at the swap meet, and got all of Giant Robo on VHS for $2, but then I caved at the Dealers Room and the Artist Alley, where I spent 30 bucks on a poster for Hayao Miyazaki's Daydream Data Notes, which I think is a collection of some of his manga work, and another 20 on a really cool EVA print.

QuoteIf anyone has pictures of Ashley Graham(RE4) or Shiny Red Gyarados(Pokemon) I'd love to see them.

Were you part of the two man operation by any chance? I spotted some pics of that, I remember.

Yeah, if anyone has pictures of the group of Communists with the big flag on Friday night (I know there are at least a few out there-we got stopped about every three feet), or the Inglorious Basterds from Saturday, I'd be much obliged. Also, any one with the US airborne trooper.

Here's one of the pictures I found of us so far, just for reference: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8145334@N06/4649377920/in/set-72157624152219884/

ETA: I'm really interested in finding if anyone has pics of our pitched battle with the decadent forces of the counter-revolution. I would be most in anyones debt who had these.

Unfortunately, we didn't see you CaptainYossarian.  We waited until 9:30 and then joined another group for our game on Saturday.

It was nice meeting you Patrick, and it was good to see you at Momoi's concert as well. :)

Oh my, what a comedy of errors, that other group was me! I guess I didn't connect that at the time, because one of the guys in my group seemed to imply he was one of you, so I was waiting for the other of you guys--so we did play after all! Sorry about the confusion, I didn't mean to "stand you up", as it were. Hopefully we can play again next year (and by the I'll probably have some expansions)--it was a lot of fun, and we actually won too. Next time we'll have to work up from Yig.

I'll probably be busy in the early afternoons for a bit each day, so nights work for me.  Better thematically too.  I'd prefer Sunday night as I'd like to take photos for the Masquerade but I could always just leave early since by that time it'll probably be voting/awards anyway.

Location-wise, I'm assuming we'll just be meeting in the game room around the board game area?

Yeah, we'll meet in the game room for sure. Thinking about it, I'm much more partial to Saturday night, but if thats a hassle for you Sunday should be fine.

I am more free for Arkham Horror in the late evenings (after 9 pm) mostly, as I plan on the concerts on Friday and Sunday. Saturday I am free earlier. Though unfortunately now that I have seen the schedule, Saturday afternoon will not be available for me. Early Sunday afternoon is looking free.

So my vote is for late night horror.

That sounds like a plan to me. Looking at the schedule, I don't have anything I'm even remotely interested in Saturday or Sunday night, so late night gaming sounds like a plan.  My vote is for Saturday night, with maybe a second session if it goes really well, although probably not.

So, now we have a schedule, anyone have any ideas for an Arkham Horror time, right now, I'm busy Saturday night from about 6-9, and Sunday night for a while too, but mostly free. I was thinking tentative maybe early Saturday afternoon? Any thoughts on this?

Actually, this sounds kind of cool--the beginnings of a real collection of Anime scholarship in English. Do you have a link, I can probably help with a few things?

My advice is start small--develop a basic infrastructure, than take a few sereis that people will actully be interested in--Cowboy Bebop would probably be a good place to start, becuse it's popular and you could actully do a good job with it--and do a really good job with them. It would lend the project some much needed legitimacy. If you can get the project off the ground, like any good wiki it'll grow itself. It'll be a pretty big time investment at first, but it'll be well worth it.
