Title: 2010 Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: Gatsby on January 16, 2008, 09:29:23 PM
I have always been a bit of a fan of the whole murder mystery parties and thought how fun it could be to do it at Fanime. I'm not really sure on details as I just (literally JUST) thought of this. I suppose it would be something we'd do at night. I suppose we'd have to do a registration sheet to help monitor who is there to be able to select a suitable murder. I thought it would be interesting to do it in cos and everyone involved in the murder would still take on their character's persona. Anyone else think this could be a possible fun activity?

SOme possible ideas we've been thinking of would be to have the murder in the Maid's Cafe after it's closed. We still need to talk to admins and what not to see if this idea is possible. Right now we are looking for reliable people who would like to be actors. If you are interested in helping just PM ME or SangSeiku.

I think that this would be a great activity. Murder, "dead" cos-players, and the butler did it. Hmm. Doesn't there need to be a host, an open plot line, a certain chain of events, a pre-determined murder, and... ... I'll stop rambling on now. I would be ecstatic to join.
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: Gatsby on January 16, 2008, 10:37:12 PM
Yes there would definitely need those. As I stated I haven't thought of it too much. I just thought it would be a fun social activity and good for a couple of laughs. I can only picture it... *goes into dream sequence* Naruto did it in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with a Death Note. =D *Ends dream sequence*

*Sigh...* Is this another filler episode? *Waits for dream sequence to end* Aren't you thinking about Clue there?
Yeah, it probably would. Can I help you set it up? I'd like to see this happen and succeed. Though I think we have to ban the use of the Death Note... Kills too quickly.

Damn fillers! *shakes fist* And Yes I'm thinking about clue which gave me a great idea to make an anime clue but that is a different topic. Sure you can do anything you think would help be it write down ideas and stuff. I'm quite busy with school lately so I don't always have time to get on so if you have any ideas for this just post them. Have you ever hosted one by chance? I haven't and I don't exactly know how you go about setting them up.

Fillers caused me to stop watching Naruto. >.>; So curse them.
Well, I think what would help first is for more people to get involved and interested in the murder mystery.
They could give a general layout of their character. Like name, anime/manga from, basic personality.
From there it would be easier to make a plot.

The academic part of school doesn't start up for me again till the 28th-ish. So that's all fun and games.
Yes I have co-hosted two with a friend, he was the one who got me interested in them.

Hmm.. I think another way of contact is better. Does MSN/AIM/MYSPACE/E-mail work for you?

Hehe. I've hosted like 6 of these parties and games. They're really fun. It would be rather difficult to write a well done one to fit a cosplay theme, and to get it actually coordinated would be worse than that. But all that aside, I'd be up for helping put it on.
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: Gatsby on January 17, 2008, 05:59:51 AM
Yeah the whole coordination of it seems to be the daunting part. >_< Hmmm... well as petdiekatze I suppose we should first get people interested.

Sounds like a really fun event... Oh!  Someone suggested a Phoenix Wright sort of reenacted court trial as an event/panel or whatever in another thread... It would be pretty complicated, but sooooo much fun if we could link the two together so that the "trial" would be on the murder mystery game... Participants in the murder mystery could be witnesses in the court case, and there could be added twists and turns behind the scenes that could end up being real plot twists in the case and to the audience.

Wee~

Just a suggestion though.  It'd probably take an insane amount of work to pull off. D:

Ohhh, that sounds like an awesome idea. I think to pull the murder mystery off there would have to be either two days, for it to be timed, or ... I think we would have to do the murder mystery party before hand though... I don't think the amount of work would be that insane. Just some really awesome planning and scheduling. Since the murder mystery is probably going to happen at night (I think it's better, because there is more room and less people so the participants could 'run around' more. ), the trail could possibly happen the following day, during the day. There would be an audience of any random cosplayer that decides to watch, and maybe a few jury members? Though who would the judge be?
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: Kandybar on January 17, 2008, 11:25:30 AM
A murder mystery party would be fantastic.  Putting it together might be a pain - I know the ones I've done before have had an entire storyline, with the people involved learning bits of it slowly throughout a couple of hours - but I might be willing to help out, depending on what we decide to do.  :)
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: ph1shf00d on January 17, 2008, 08:55:36 PM
@Petdiekatze- The guy who wants to organize the event was thinking that the jury members could be the crowd (or some people randomly selected from the crowd/audience).  For the judge, we'd probably need someone to volunteer to play his part in the other thread.

While it would probably be really easy for the entire court trial/murder mystery to be ENTIRELY scripted, it'd also be interestingly spontaneous to have sort of an open-ended trial where the verdict could actually be determined by the jury/audience.  Hopefully people won't be too disappointed if Phoenix ended up defending the true murderer... XD

Oh, and here's the PW Mock Trial thread:

Kandy Bar- Yep, that's about the same that I know. But I think it would be fun to make up our own storyline/series of events. And with cards telling them what to do as well as some clues right?

ph1sh- Hmm that sounds like a good idea. I think there could be a sort of 'ending' for the murder half where there are only a few people left alive (which means there would probably be multiple accounts of murder =D ... [Depending on when this starts, people who have to leave at a certain time and tell us before hand- ish could be a planned murder victim.]) or there could be a 'traditional' murder mystery party ending, when the remaining guests accuse someone of being the murderer. But for the sake of the trail, it is not confirmed whether or not he or she is the murderer. That could be leading suspect number one. Or something along those lines.

Do you think we should start a registering list? And where would it belong? In panels and workshops?
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: Gatsby on January 18, 2008, 09:39:08 AM
Yes I think we should start registering people... or at least getting a basic idea of who is going to join. So just post if you want to do this and your cosplay.
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?

Hmm I think that we should figure out a date and time that it might be as well.

Petdiekatze- Either Kairi (Pink Dress, KH2/ or another that is in the process of being figured out.)

You know... I can probably make this an event in my department. Like... each day I'll release more clues to the big mystery. I'll make sure that no one can come back and solve it on Friday even if they think they know it... or something like that.

This sounds like so much fun!

Would this require a seperate room of sorts so congoers don't disturb whatever evidence is in place?  Or you could have random congoers in on the whole thing among the crowd labeled as witnesses that the contestant detectives could question.  One of the witnesses could be the killer or something.

Do you need a mini mystery written out for this or do you have ideas?

It would have to be short enough to be solveable in two days flat, but I'm sure with the number of Ls and other highly rated detectives being attracted to this, it should be easy to solve.

Or if no contestant solves it, you could have a backup detective that knows everything and could do a dramatic reveal at the end like in the show "Psych"....

See the location is the real problem I see. I don't think there's anywhere we could do it in the main convention zone, unless we could maybe work in an area that is closed at night (which I think would be the ideal time to do it). The Maid Cafe was closed at night right? Well one thought I just had could be that someone was murdered there and we work on the case at night when the cafe is closed. But I'm not sure if we'd be allowed to do that since it's their area, I suppose we could ask too.

The maid cafe would be an excellent murder scene!  I suppose you / we /whoever should email or contact an official about availability of onsite rooms... If we do contact con admin they'll probably want us to contact the people running the maid cafe as well for permission and guidelines.  (Like no getting their tablecloths covered in{fake} blood or something >.<)

If/ when you inquire about this, we should have it to some level of organization of the activity that we can negotiate with...
(Btw: do we know who to contact?  what email?  anyone else reading this know?)

Probably good to have an idea of the story first then  ;)

I'll start thinking of some ideas if you still want them.  :)

So I was browsing deviantart with a friend and something clicked.  ITs just a possibilty, but I'll be cosplaying as Kenny (90% sure) from South Park, so the murder could be something like: Who killed Kenny!?

... Again, just an idea... I would almost rather be a participant detective (L, cuz I'm cosplaying that as well...) But helping to write a murder mystery is too much fun too resist!

(*taps chin* dun want to seem intrusive since this is your idea and all though... ) I'll help out if you want (I feel nosy...) :D

I want to be involved as well. I have several cosplays, so I should choose one depending on the plot/setting/role.

So are there going to be the 'actors' who play certain set people (ie maid, butler) and who answer the questions of other people that we invite (the ones trying to solve it)? And how many invitees would there be? I think that there should be more than just one night of this. Like multiple showings of a play. So as we get closer to the con, people who are interested in being invited, not in being actors, could sign up. Maybe if they trusted us enough they'd give us their room #s, and we could send them paper invitations telling them which night they would come. Or email would work just as well.

Well, that is my two cents. =D

Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: Gatsby on September 27, 2008, 10:33:17 AM
Yes I think there will be actors that will be interrogated. See I've never done one of these so this is all new territory, so all help I can get would be great.
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: SangSeiku on September 27, 2008, 08:26:47 PM
:)  If we have people signing up online for this they would have to make sure to give us the name that will be on their badge.

Ooh  and I was thinking about this earlier,  depending on the plot (and LemonBubbles, bouncing off of your idea of actors for witnesses/ ineregatees) we should probably also intvite some backup detectives that know the whole story.

Doing it more than once would be a good idea, but each time it should be a different story, because past detectives may let slip the answer.  (I suppose the rest of the plot related ideas should remain in PMs, incase there are any nosy investigators already looking for hints ;)  )  Maybe we could have it that they have to solve it within like four hours or the murderer will escape.

Also, I was thinking we could have evidence all set up and maybe a mini police report type thing for each of the detectives (because the police couldn't solve it, but wanted to help anyway) but we could also have some bumbling policeman that starts cleaning things up within one hour so if detectives want to keep evidence type things they would want to take a picture (but that would be unfair to those without digital cameras and bad memory spans.)  We'll have to oversee the direct investigations to make sure the detectives have proper etiquette and don't touch any of the evidence the "police" haven't already deemed alright to touch investigate...

The more than one run thing will probably be good depending on how many people sign up/get invited.  Don't want it too crowded, am I right?

Gahh! If I have any more ideas I'll PM you. Sorry for taking up so mauch space.

(Ah one more thing: we could like write rough drafts of the mystery and send them to you to ssee if they're actually solvable.  And after we have a cast list we can put up like a roster to hire them as well. give them the script... or just the part of the script that their characters would know about so they wouldn't know the real answer. O.o)

I love all your ideas so far! I know I proposed this idea, but would you like to be co-creator?

Do you read/watch Detective Conan/Case Closed? If not try watching a few episodes because they have some interesting murder that could be used for inspiration. I love Sherlock Holmes and found those types of murders to be amazing so I think if we aimed towards a murder like that...
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?

CO-creator? reeeeaaallllyyy?  :o   *dances like an idiot*  ;D :D ;D

(Sorry I can be a bit of a spazz) That'd be fun!!!

Oh, um I think I've seen a few episodes of case closed, but I was what, like five?  And your suggestion had great timing, bbecause I was pondering why I hadn't actually goine back and watched more recently.  And I lurve Sherlock Holmes.  My friend has a entire compilation I believe of all of the official mysteries.  I've been trying to borrow it for a while, but she said she wanted to read it first... (she's got at leaast ten books ahead of it she's being forced to read though. >w< So I can probably sneak it out and read it before christmas at least.)

And yeah probable vs possible mystery sounds really fun.  I'll try thinking of some basic ideas this week.  :)
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?

Yeah, you're helping alot and I need someone who can help organize it.

I'm going to watch Case Closed since I have about 30+ episodes. That should give some ideas.

I think the actors all should have motive to have killed the person or persons who are murdered.

I've also emailed my creative writing teacher, so he may be able to help us put the finishng touches on the story to help it make sense.  Always good to have an extra set of eyes to catch the plotholes, no?
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: SangSeiku on September 28, 2008, 09:06:51 PM
Aah yeah, I could also be an actor, since I'll have multiple cosplays for the entire weekend.  We can call up any one of them we require for the mystery.

L - Death Note
Kenny - South Park
Seto Kaiba -Yuugiou (?)
Katsuya Jounouchi/Joey Wheeler - Yuugiou (?)
Edit:
+Ash/Satoshi - Pokemon
Edit/

The first two are definate, so if we went with one of the murders being who killed Kenny, I could just lie there being dead.  Or get up later for questioning, seeing as how Kenny never stays dead for long.  If no one solves it for instance a dead Kenny could get up and claim the truth.  Or he could be lying to protect the murder (why would he do that?!).

Uum, also, if we end up with partial scripts for the actors, they'll either have to promise not to tell anyone early, or we'll just give them the prompt/story cards day of so info doesn't spread around before the game. (God, I can't wait for Fanime.)  I'll start asking my friends if they'd be interested in acting parts.  And I have to make sure they've all registered.  -_-'

G'night. :)
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: Gatsby on September 28, 2008, 09:20:08 PM
Hmmmm... out of your two definite cosplays I think the L cosplay would work the best for an actor.

And as for the victim, I've been thinking about this. It would seem that it would be a bit unfair to make someone play a dead person for a few hours. So I've thought of two possible things we could do. First option: We take some pictures of the crime scene (mainly the victim) which we'd distribute with the murder report. Second option: the murder happens and then once the "investigators" have looked over the body "police" come and remove the body. I'm just trying to think of our "victim"'s comfort.

Yes if they are going to be actors they must be on the forums. Hey, do you have MSN? We can have a group chats there once we begin getting members.

Yay for L.  (I've come to sit like him nearly every where I go.  Its not good for my back is it?)

I was thinking about the same thing so yeah, We could have the pictures up on a board for the investigators so we don't have to make too many copies for everyone. (Must save on costs too.)

And I don't think I have MSN, but I'll look into it. I think my brother used it on my cpu awhile ago, so he'll be able to set me up.  I'll update you on that, but until then, we can just pm and email I suppose. :)
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?

We could also start advertising acting spots to people around the forums (Like stick the link to the thread in our signatures?  Is that allowed?)  because we need to know what charas are available to really define the plot.

Oh, and my creative writing teacher said he'll help out however he can.  (Isn't it great to have such a geek on good terms?)  (And geek is a term of endearment.  I acknowledge Nerd, Outcast, Weirdo, and anything relating to insanity the same.)  (Its more fun that way.)  (Escpecially when you let slip something like an entire conversation with your friends in leet... out loud. -_-' )

:)
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: Gatsby on September 28, 2008, 11:27:12 PM
Haha... Don't worry I sit like L often too. And yeah it's probably not good for your or my back, but oh well. XD

Yes a bulletin would work. We can have picture (we'll have to have either an instant camera or bring a printer or find a way to print pictures), the list of suspects, and some other important crime info on the board. Then for the investigator reports we can have a more detailed profile on the victim and basic information of the crime (murder weapon, time of murder, etc). Another thing I think we should have an actor detective who is still in the dark, but is given a few question to prompt the mystery along if the players get stuck.

I like the idea of adding this to our sig. ANd I'm pretty sure it'll be fine. I'll ask some of my friends if they'd like to be actors and actresses also.

Okie doke. I'll try PMing you a comprehensive list of everything we've talked about so far tomorrow.

There was a murder mystery party on the Girls Next Door show.  If I remember correctly, no one there did the dying but they made a fake plush body or something where they showed fall from the stairs and lie on the ground.  Near the end, they pulled aside the girl that the party was for, and told her that she pushed the victim over the railing.  Yeah, I can't remember much and would have to watch the episode again. ^^;  But this event sounds really fun.

Would it be agianst any forum rules to look through people's cosplays lists through tthe forums and invite them to the murder mystery on that cosplay thread?

... -_-'

If anyone has ideas for plotlines please do tell. (If there are any specifics please pm them though.)
We can't really pull together our story until we have our cast. So pm or comment if you have any interest! :)

Also, some possible characters from cosplayers I know (who are willing to help):
Chi (chobits)
Bakura/Ryou (Yuugiou) or Near (death note)
Ashley/Satoko (pokemon) or Pharos (persona 3)
Link (legend of zelda) (but he'll only be there for Saturday night)
Sanji (one piece) (?)

half these guys will probably be exploring all weekend though, (due to first time con-goer curiosity) so they may be unavailable (or they'll be sticking by my regular group the entire time due to first time con-goer fear-of-huge-crowds).  Dunno, but I'll ask again later to reaffirm their desire to be part of the mystery.

Anyway...  :)

I plan on cosplaying as Sunako Nakahara from Wallflower. And I would absolutely love coming by and participating in this as a suspect or something like that ya know? She kinda loves death and stuff anyways, so she might make it funny cuz she'd always try stealing the evidence nd stuff. It'd give us a good way to start having clues disappear or move and make people pay attention.

Thank you all for support and interest!

We're trying to pull together some sort of audition thing we can do online for the actors, so if you guys are interested in participating, please do pm us after posting.

Remember to tell us if you wish to participate as an actor (witness/ ???)  or an investigator (competitor). Also your cosplay, we can't really work on the main story until we get some actors together, so bear with us. :)

For something like auditions, we'll try to pull together mini scripts of some sort.

Please do contact!

:)

Hello all out there in forum land! ;D
We need more partipants for this project in order to get the ball rolling!
If you want an idea of the story, we need to know what characters our participants are cosplaying and if they want to be a witness or a detective.

Please PM Darth_Diclonius or I with info!

I hope you all look forward to the product of this! :)

oh snaps! i wanna join! this sounds like something everyone would have fun doing. although i do wanna suggest that there is a set time and date for the start and have a set list of people joining so that you can write the plots and everything. since you would know who's there and who their cosplaying.
Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: SangSeiku on February 14, 2009, 12:43:54 PM
Yes, yes.  Most Definately. :)
The only real problem we're having is that we need people to sign on before we can incorporate the actual characters into the plot line, Can't go around asking people to change the cosplays they've put so much hard work into, especially if they really want to join.
For now we're working on a prview plot.

So we need people to say they're dedicated! XD

We were thinking about Saturday and/or Sunday evening depending on the activity in the thread.
We are attempting to contact admin about where we can do it, (hopefully the maid cafe after closing timie if we can manage it, though for this we're a bit wary of who tto contact...)  we may end up doing it in the game room or out near the fountain(?) if we have to. Location could mess with the plot a bit too, but we are working on it.

We want everyone to have fun with this since its a first attempt. :)
Oh and Emo avenger, did you want to be a "witness" or "detective"?  (If witness whats your cosplay?)

This sounds like a lot of fun, and I'd love to take part.  However, your suggested schedule is going to bad for a lot of people.  Saturday night and Sunday night both have large events (Masquerade, Black and White Ball and Music Fest just to name a few).  I'll PM you once you post an official time, don't want to waste your time and energy if I can't make it.

Hey everyone!!!

I wish I saw this earlier, I just posted trying to recruit people for a panel version of hosting a murder mystery.  I think it would be a great idea to have an event like this for the con.

I have been thinking of several different ways of doing this, from having someone murdered to relocating a missing object/person; obtaining clues from a variety of ways (be it from the room, some people know certain things).  Another way to keep it interesting, would be for every amount of time that would pass or if someone was to guess the wrong murderer, that person would die.  With all of this, of course we would have some sort of prize.

If you need any help creating the story, setting this up, or running this game, I'm down to help.
Just email me.

Also, I'll be cosplaying as either Negi (Negima) or Honey (Ouran) and currently trying to make another costume.

Phooey, this thread is alive.

I haven't heard from DarthDiclonius in awhile, so I can't move forward in planning.  But we are moving forward in stuff. :)

Thank you guys for being patient!
Cool thing is we may have enough actors to pull this off!
So whoever wants to be a detective should speak up.

(also, if I don't hear from Darth soon, this year may be simply getting together directly at the con to discuss how we can get this to work better next year.  Whoever wants to show up and talk stuff over, we'll probably do at least a mini mystery if can't pull the full fledgted one off.

Sorry to everyone for being so unorganized.  :-\ )

I'll post when/where once I talk to Darth.

We'll be happy to see everyone at Fanime!

It'd be nice if you'd say a place to meet(like the maid cafe on Saturday of the con at a time..) So that those who do pass through and want to do it, but don't get on that often will know something....
=)

Title: Re: Cosplay Murder Mystery?
Post by: SangSeiku on April 29, 2009, 09:19:46 PM
Okay, so I'm thinking that (unless I hear from Darth, or you guys have a bunch of conflicts) we could meet up probably out near the fountains (or back of the game room if there's already a gathering outside)  around ten in the morning on Saturday and/or Sunday... neh? :)

This year might not be super official because of all the complications we've dealt with. :-X

I'm thinking next year, we should try to get this as a panel or actual con supprted event.  If its popular enough we could probably do it that way too.  (We should have inquired through more of the admin for info/help~)

So, for now, I'll PM the people who wanted to witnesses as a confirmation, and anyone who wants to be a detective should at least post here if they plan on showing.

If you guys have any questions or concerns, please post as soon as possible.  :D

(Again sorry for being so unorganized, so anyone who wants to get more involved next year should start now~  or whenever :P)

So, I'll be putting stuff together for now!  Wish meh luck!

Stay on hold plz!  (light and annoying hold music plays)  (*shot*)

I am working on things!

I think we're going to try to meet up on Sunday at least, and if things are working out well, (...) we might try a second round on Saturday, (or meet to discuss or hand out alibis on Sunday and actually do something on Saturday)  (Probably out by the fountains, but if things are going to be crowded I'll tell people to look in on the game room)

(Forgive me for being frazzled)  I'll be back with news soon!

Time is running out and if this is to be a Cosplayer Event then there are decision that need to be made in order for it to appear on the Cosplayer Event section of the info boards.

Hokay guys,

I'm thinking it would work out best like this:

We meet up Sunday 10 AM and Saturday 10 AM to hand out alibis to the witnesses so they have a chance to look things over, that way that can act things naturally.  >w<

If we decide we're all prepared for stuff, we weill probably have the actual murder mystery around 5 PM Saturday.

Likely we'll meet up out at the fountains all three times, but after we all discuss stuff in person, we can decide if we want the whole mystery out near the fountains.

Please respond to this so I can get a feeling if this'll work out.

I'll PM Darth today or tomorrow to see if he thinks this is organized enough. (thx for the heads up BSaphire)

(Dates and times may change, if they do I'll post)

Thank you witnesses for being patient, all of my classes threw projects at me this week, but I'll hopefully have things written up.  I'll post who all I request for witnesses by Thursday (I think, if not, keep checking back and curse my idiocy.  Maybe the stupid will leave my brain then. :D)

Thank you all for your support!!

With the cosplayer events scheduled for the fountain area on Sunday start at 10 am and will run till about 5 pm.

I would like to suggest Saturday for this and I wanted to let you know that I will have one table for gatherings and one for events so if you need a centralized location to meet during all of this. There is a CE running from 12 - 4 at the table but there is also the risor stage located at the foot of the stairs (1st floor of the Convention Lobby)that is available most of the day on Saturday. Maybe the final portion could be played out there so eveyone can know "Who Dun It!" @ say 4:30 to 5 pm?

Let me know what you think. :)

Hokay guys, I believe we have two routes to choose from (for now?):

A)
The actors(witnesses and I) meet up on Saturday morning
9AM~10AM near the fountains/ in the game room (which is better?)
and we do the event (questioning and such sometime around 3:30~4:30 in the game room
and wrap up on stage 4:30~5:00 w/conclusion

unless we want to do the whole thing on stage?  work quickly little detectives~ ... no... that would be cruel, neh?

or
B)
The witnesses and I can meet up on both/either Saturday/Sunday
9~10AM either day
and we do the event sometime Sunday evening between 5~7PM
(if the stage were avaiable sometime in that time it'd be cool too, but whatev, I'm flexible~)

I'm supposing during the actual event (if antone can actually tell what's up) Anyone can watch the questioning?
And hopefully the grand reveal at the end we can do public-like?
(Man that stage sounds great)

Talk to y'all soon.
(I finally have Saturday and Sunday straight in my head! *rejoices* :D)

This was a pain to track down, anywho I'm planning to be in San Jose on Friday, somewhere around noon maybe earlier or later depending on Traffic coming over the highway from Casa De Fruta.

As for the con, this'll be my first time at a con (However not acting yay College plays..though it's been a while so I may be rusty-ish), and also my first time at the SJ convention center, so I'll spend Friday-ish getting a layout of the place in my mind.

as far as I know I didn't have any plans for Saturday except wandering and seeing the other cosplays, and fielding a response on if people would buy custom wooden sword props from me.

Or sitting down in a corner and doing random sketches of the architecture.

-Mikami out.

Here is my suggestion to all you Murder Mystery fans out there (Like ME! :) )

Everyone involved with running this meets on Friday @ 7:00 pm @ the Riser Stage 1st floor of the Con Center. I will be at the Shonen Weekly gathering @ 6:30 and then head over. This will give you time to go over the stage dimensions and trouble shoot last minute things (trust me they always happen) If everyone can meet up at this time then hand out the alibis, run through it a couple of times and time the whole thing.

What I would like to see is this performed on Saturday & Sunday.

Saturday from 4 - 5 pm (with the run through on Friday you will know how long it will take) For those who are in the Cosplay Masquerade this would be right after your Optional Masq rehersal & make sure your prejudging is done before 2. You can then head over to the stage and perform this (*note I would make sure that those who are in Masq get alibis and are placed 10-15 minutes into the performance of MM in case they are running late. don't give them roles that would compromise their need to be back and check in at 5 pm)

THEN....

Sunday at 4 pm. The reason for 4 pm is so that those wishing to attend B& W ball (starts @6pm) or MusicFest will have time to make it there. If no one cares to go either of those then adjust the time to a little later like 5 or 6.
The fun with running it on Sunday is that you can change up the alibis after Saturday's performance and have a different person as the "Who Dun It" end. (those that were in the Masq could then have more time and play the roles they couldn't before. Everyone would have more time... The attendees could see it more than once, and the best performance is always the closing performance.

This is only my suggestion.... you will need to make it work for all of you, but I would like to meet up with this group when the alibis are handed out and meet each of you. ^^) Now I know this may not work out for all of you, will create more a little more work and a demand on time but I think that this would be something wonderful to see. Who knows where this could lead for next year.

I would highly recommend some decisions be made soon and everyone involved be pm'd/emailed about how this will break down very soon.

If no one has heard from Darth up to this point I would look to SangSeiku to be running this. This means that SangSeiku will need to follow the guidelines for being listed on the gathering boards and list. As soon as characters are confirmed, date(s) & times are set and all the info figured out I will need it to repost it onto the first post of this thread. I will need this ASAP  or more like yesterday :)

I'm surprised no one cosplaying L is interested in this.

Though having someone cosplaying Ryuk as a suspect'd be funny. Does it matter what we're cosplaying as for the Friday meeting?

uhmm... so I'm a witness right? >_<

exactly what is it? sorry I thought I'd be in the mystery so I dunno u_u

also I can't make it on friday 7pm (Karaoke Contest)<----

(Omg: I'm cosplaying as L.  lulz >w<)

And KonataFTW, I wasn't able to write everyone into the first set, so if you check with me on Saturday, I may have you written into the second mystery (If everyone wants to do the second one~ ... or if I get done writing it up~ >///< )

If I can't would you still want to participate as a detective?  Helping to solve the mystery will still be fun, neh?

And for everybody, it doesn't matter what you're wearing for the meetings and hands outs in the mornings (and friday) as long as you're in costume for the aactual performances~

I'm good for whatever I'm wrote in for.

Come to think of it it would seem more natural if we had a couple people cosplaying Ryuzaki and Conan (Death Note and Detective Conan respectively) as investigators. Especially if the two were sort of at odds to discover the perpetrator first, like a contest between the two of sorts.

Especially if the cosplayer of Conan did his whole dealio where he knocks someone out and uses the person's voice to explain the crime like he does in the manga.

Which? the manga or Anime, or both? Because I'm going to have free time after my finals today between now and Friday when I leave for SJ, and I'm almost done catching up with Naruto and One Piece, which are surprisingly good. Well the manga anyway.

Eh..both. Though the anime is SIGNIFICANTLY worse as it is full of filler. (Although I actually ave different reasons for disliking it) so you may not mind at all.

Yay for totally messy dry runs and test events ;P

If we've got any new ideas for improvement that would be awsome (So we should probably start a new thread for 2010 eventually~)

See you later~

I think, that if we have time to organize things this year, instead of prompting everyone day of, we could discuss everything before hand in a chatroom instead.  (Not on the forums, so we don't give anything away, but on yahoo, or aim~)

(That and it will probably be easier to pull together the story and etc with more brains on the squad.)

(And, as one of the participants last year suggested, do you think this would go over better as an interactive panel?)

The Gatherings Department will be starting a new project this year at the riser stage on the 1st floor of the convention center. It is called Drive by Cosplay. There will be more info on this later, but since the original poster is not updating this thread I am going to lock it. Also, if someone wants Cosplay Murder Mystery to happen it needs a new thread and an organizer to run it. If it is something you want to do unofficially then perhaps you will come to the riser stage during the "Drive By" hours.
Thanks
