Like last year, I'm getting a head start on organizing the Rurouni Kenshin gathering.

Fanime will be taking group pictures during the Gathering/Event this year. If you do not want to be included in those pictures please step aside for those photos. By remaining with the group when the pictures are being taken you give your consent to be photographed.

Uh...kinda early to tell for me. Although, I really would like to go to Fanime again next year. If I do get to go, of course I'll be Kaoru in kimono again. :P This year was the first time I wore it. Be a shame to closet it now.
I'll be back at Fanime, and happy to do more Ruroken. I'll have my wig well-tamed by then--first time out I didn't have it quite the way I wanted it. (Before that I used temp red hair dye, but that was before I had all these other costumes.)
If I'm not stupid busy trying to finish a costume before it, I'll make sure to watch Ruroken for more photo op ideas.
I know one that would be funny from the manga in light of the peace bonding--where Kenshin has his sword wrapped in chains and mopes about Karou's "death". Maybe we could do a version with a chain made of a crudload of peace bonds....LOL!
I should be there, either as Aoshi or Seijuro, not sure which one I want to make yet >_<

I've got an upping to my photo op idea after some con ops stuff this past Fanime with my Bleach swords for Ukitake....
Doing that Kenshin moping photo with the "chained" sword sitting in front of con ops....
If they'd let us get away with that for the few seconds long enough to get the picture.

We'll most likely have it AFTER the Jump gathering so I don't have to get the spray out of my hair. It takes three rinses and two hours to get it out. :-X
Depending on the day of the gathering, I can come as Battousai and drag two of my friends as Kaoru and Misao.
If it's on the day of the Jump gathering then it will be after the gathering, but, I think I'll put you down as a maybe, but I'll have the day when they announce the day and time of the Jump gathering I'll set up a day for the RK gathering. could you send me the times that (when they're announced) you can't do? Cool.

Looks like Shonen Jump will be Sunday, but Bleach and D Gray are also looking at Sunday. I'm planning to be part of the Bleach bunch...but not D Gray.
See what happens, as we've joked in another thread, it's early December, not like we still don't have time to figure things out.

Now that I see that the Shounen Jump gathering on late Sunday, we might have to change plans, If we have the gathering two or three hours after the Jump gathering, we won't be able to get in line for the Masquerade. (unless they have it on Sat like last year). :-[
Because I am expecting to compete in the Masquerade next year, if you have the gathering on Sunday afternoon, I won't be able to join you. But if that's the best time for everyone else--go for it.
Of course that also depends on what day the Masq is held on.... @_@

But if the Masq does end up Sunday, then it's likely some of us from TB would have to dash off, so I would miss the Ruroken gathering.

I'm waiting until some of other gatherings to get posted (Jump and such) and also for the official announcement that the Masquerade is on Sat this year.
If the Masq is on Saturday....
And if the Ruroken gathering has enough time after the Shonen Jump Gathering....and if Bleach is earlier, then I can get changed for a Ruroken gathering on Sunday.
Now we just need to find out what time the Bleach Gathering is and we're in bussines. ;D
Please avoid the bleach gathering day! thats all I ask. I would prefer to be able to walk around each day as a diffrent character (one day Shunsui, one day hiko) so please, if possible...Not on the same day!
I'm so happy that I don't have to be just one character a day ^_^ that lets me go to all sorts of gatherings and have uber fun as well as wear old costumes like my Yumi one. It makes my cosplay list become longer though... ^_^'' but its the only time of year I get to use most of my anime character costumes. I've tried to integrate a few into a LARP I help run but so far not that many cosplays have made their way there haha. I should work on that!
For some of us competing in the Masquerade, it can't be on Saturday. (Sorry, not competing as Kenshin. ;) )
And it's unfortunate that the majority of the gatherings are all competing for the same two days of the four day convention.
I prefer to have less costume changes, too, but for Sat and Sun it's going to be unavoidable if I wish to attend some of the gatherings.
It looks like the Bleach and the RK gathering will be on the same day unfortunately, but they are going to be hours apart so if you want to switch costumes you will have plenty of time.

Well, we're coordinating the gatherings so that we can have our Kenshin's that also want to go to the Bleach gathering, because it looks like it's going to be on the same day.

Well after being Sanosuke to Sac-Anime over the weekend and enjoying it thoroughly I've decided I'm most likely going to be coming as Sano, I know I said I was most likely gonna be Seijuro Hiko or Shinamori Aoshi, but I'm having a friend cosplay Aoshi since she'll look and act more accordingly, and as for Seijuro I'd prefer to see it on someone with a more muscular build than myself >_< so as far as it goes right now I'll be coming as Sagara Sanosuke :D I'm looking forward to this though

lol. this ought to be interesting. im a pretty big guy too despite the fact that im cosplaying kenshin. hopefully the clothing will disguise that a little. especially in the arms, im going to do a cosplay of a rather large guy and his arms are HUGE. itd be funny if the master looked smaller than the student lol

I'm shooting for a couple hours or so after the Shounen Jump gathering, because My Jump costume requires my natural hair color and my Kaoru requires that I spray the color on. Thankfully the Masqurade is on Saturday again, and the Jump gathering is on Sunday, that way we will have time to hang out and gather :D

But to stay safe with food storage at a con...there are rice seasonings you can buy at the Asian stores in different flavors for mixing with the rice to make some very tasty combinations.

OK, I need to tell B what the time and place of the gathering is. So far it looks like the Masquerade will be on Saturday, but if that changes I'm sure that B will let me change it, but how dose this sound?:

And yes, we should start a list of what sort of shots we'd like to set up. We're not a huge group, but it'd help us get through stuff quicker, because sadly I do have to leave by some point to change to Headmaster Cross for Vampire Knight on Sunday....
I'm planning on putting together a list of ideas and some art references that might be fun to set up by Fanime.
Well, we are definitely going to do the Ohagi pictures (if I have to go get the ohagi the night before I will >:( ) so lets see what we have so far.
We also have Shura, so we'll have some filler pics (I mean filler episodes! ^^;) and if we don't find a human Shishio, we could manipulate the camera so that it looks like people are fighting the Shishio Dollfie. ;D

I am sorry (and very annoyed) to say that I won't be able to make it to the gathering after all.
See, it's the start of tech week for a dance show I'm in, and traditionally the Sunday rehearsal is at night so the afternoon is free. However, this year they've changed it up so there is less rehearsing on Monday, a group rehearsal Sunday evening at 5 and I've been given a rehearsal time for my dance smack dab in the middle of the day. I have no way to avoid it.
ARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I already pulled out fox ears to go with my costume, ironing it was on my to-do list, just... grr.

I have been through my pictures and sadly I have no pictures on my camera from the Ruroken shoot.
The gathering was a lot of fun! It was awesome to hang out with everyone, to the point where I missed my next gathering because I didn't have time to change for it. :)
If I have any thoughts about "what to improve for next year" we'll have to come prepared with more picture references for extra photo ops. So we don't get stuck with "ooh, I almost remember how it goes..." And maybe a few more props like dice and stuff.

For lack of funds, I have no new cosplays, so I'll be back as Kaoru next year. Although, I have made adjustments to the costumes so hopefully it will fit me better.

My sword is made out of 1/4" thick pine.
It's convention safe and as for expense, fairly inexpensive. But there was the effort to make it.
The plastic one you're looking at looks like could be okay to use to at a con, and if you didn't mind the price for it.

Some important info that might affect this gathering as a weekend one....
The Masquerade has been moved to Sunday night, same night as the Black and White Ball.
This means I'm probably going to need to change the Trinity Blood gathering to Saturday afternoon, if the rest of that group agrees in order to avoid both of those events.
So I'm not sure about how I can fit in Ruroken...but we'll see what day and time this bunch picks.
(At the least I am planning to wear Kenshin to this year's Cherry Blossom Festival in April. ;) )

Hi guys. Last minute addition here. Dusting my old Kenshin costume off from 2001 and thought I'd wear it again. I was super surprised/happy to see there will be a gathering, so I'll do my best to be there. It's the traditional magnet Kenshin costume. Sadly didn't have time to order new purple contacts, but I found my old wig so I should be good otherwise. :D

The gathering was fun this year, i was the sano with a broken zanbato. Was wondering if anyone had a compilation of the pictures that were taken?

Haha you got some great pictures, but I'm sad they're so small. The one of all the Kenshins doing the line-kick is just fantastic. XD
I resize them a bit smaller, for ease in viewing. I do have larger, so if you want one or two in particular let me know and I can email them.
