General Anime Chat / Your very first anime
May 09, 2006, 04:24:17 AM
I can't remember if the first one I watched was Teknoman (Tekkaman) or Robotech (Southern Cross arc).  Then promptly moved on to Gundam, Escaflowne, El Hazard, ect...Ah, memories...

Dealers Room / Swap meet
March 10, 2006, 03:36:29 AM
Some Auska and Rei in various outfits, Roy Mustang, Ed, Riza Hawkeye and Black Hayate (all PVC figurines); as well as some Bleach plushies (Urahara, Ichigo, Rukia, Kon) and lighters.  Most of these were UFO catcher prizes that you have to win to get.  I think I found some stores selling some of these items, but they didn't have that many.  I'm planning to sell them at the Swap Meet as I mentioned earlier, however, if I can't make it to Fanime this year, I'll sell them on the boards.

Dealers Room / Swap meet

I'm waiting to unload a number of figurines (evangelion and fma) and plushies (some bleach) that I got while I was in Japan.  Hopefully I won't be to busy trying to graduate and go sell some of this stuff.

I'm trying to go as KH1 Riku.  Hopefully I'll be able to get the costume and the props somewhat recognizable.

Gaming / Arcade Machines that you would like to play...
February 25, 2006, 01:21:29 PM
I would like to see any of Mobile Suit Gundam DX, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: FEDERATION vs ZAFT, or Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: AEUG vs Titans machines there. Preferrably the Gundam Seed machine.  You can link 4 of them up to challenge each other 2v2.

Well, you can get her a little wrist strap or something and hide the pepper spray inside her sleeve...or give her a tazer and have her pull off Jam's energy blast on unscrupulous people.

Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu.  Hey, I thought the anime was hillarious, and a live action version would be good as well.

Quote from: "~~Loktera~~"The ending of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien

I wanted to see Haruka and Takayuki get back together again... That bitch Mitsuki fscked it all up.... It's her fauly that Haruka got put into the coma anyways.... *grumble*

...am I the only one who actually liked the ending of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien?  I thought it was well done that Mitsuki and Takayuki got together.  I believe it showed that everyone was mature enough to move on and start living their lives again, instead of being trapped within past memories.

Anyways, one major gripe I have would be with the Melody of Oblivion.  They had a pretty good plot set up for the series, however, things rapidly went downhill near the end.  I have tried blocked this series from memory since I felt it ended horribly; but as an example, one of the things that siginfied that it went down the crapper was when they explained that the Melos warriors could fight in the vast vaccum of space protected by a rub-on salve for a limited amount of time.  Then after said introduction of plot item, there would be many scenes which degenerated into fanservice by showing suggestive applications of said salve over the female warriors' bodies as well as having scenes showing the silhouettes of said female warriors applying the salve to the male warrior.

Other examples include the loss of coherence of plot, absurd moments (eg. having the good guys and bad guys placed in what appeared to be in a karaoke room, during a battle), and very strange fanservice (eg. having a farm where the "livestock" were women wearing cow-patterened bikinis and having said "livestock" being milked...don't ask...).

Dealers Room / Swap meet
November 28, 2005, 07:06:16 PM
Just wondering if anyone knew anything about the swap meet.  I haven't seen anything about it on the main fanime page.  I would like to know some general info about it; such as which days the swap meet run, when it is, how to get a space, ect...  If anyone had any info about this, it would be greatly appreciated.

General Anime Chat / Mai Otome
October 13, 2005, 10:30:16 AM
From what I read about the series from animenfo.com, it says that Mai Otome is not a direct sequel to Mai Hime.  It has the same characters, but the storyline is completely unreleated.

I think that it was a number of years ago that that happened.  I'm pretty sure you can do J-rock/J-pop stuff now.  I'd say check up on the rules for that one.  The best place would probably be 2k5's webpage.

I like the way you think Chun, and there are many ways to do so...reminds me of a story that I heard once.  Not sure if it's true, but I heard that some guy was able to sing a Spice Girls song in a karaoke competition one year because the rules said "anime and video game songs only".  Since the Spice Girls actually have a game out on the market...well...put 2 and 2 together and you'll get people cringing from the abominable act.

Tsukai Mori, you asked an awesome question here.  Don't worry, many of us do dream/wish/actively search about for an actual way to get in/ect. of what it would be like to be in an anime.

Personally, I'd like to participate in either Slayers or Escaflowne.  I'd love to live in a world where magic flourishes and adventures lie in wait around the corner.  And besides, who wouldn't want to pilot a Guymelf or cast a Dragon Slave?  Plus, I've always wondered if it would be feasible to create/discover useful everyday spells (eg. hygiene spells for cleaning the body without water and soap) instead of the destroy/shatter/blow-up-the-world-because-I-feel-like-it spells.

I'm probably going to go as a Ranma.  If I can somehow make the costume, I would definitely go as Calintz from Magna Carta: Crimson Stigmata.  I'm going to see if I can go all out on the Calintz one...

Gaming / Arcades 2005 Feedback/comments/complaints/etc
October 01, 2005, 04:19:49 AM
I would like to know if it would be possible to get the game "Mobile Suit Gundam Seed:  Alliance vs. Zaft".  It came out fairly recently in Japan, August I believe.  I had the opportunity to play this game and would really like to see it at Fanime 2k6.  Also, Melty Blood:  Act Cadenza (arcade port of Melty Blood: ReAct) would be a good choice IMHO.

Well, I'd love to do it if there's still room at the convention to do so.  I can't quite commit to it just yet.  I'll either be Ranma (male) or Calintz (from Magna Carta:  Crimson Stigmata).

General Convention Discussion / Fanime '07 Promises
September 20, 2005, 10:47:27 PM
- I promise to actually go (been studying abroad this past 5-6 months, missed fanime, but...well, studying in Japan made up for it)
- I promise to get as much sleep as necessary (note, not sleeping will result in hallucinations...cosplayers don't really help to make the distinction between reality and the hallucination)
- Most of all, I promise to enjoy myself as much as possible at Fanime.

P.S.

Been gone from the boards for a year or so, what did I miss and how was Fanime this year?
