Title: Summer Movies 2008!
Post by: Jerry on June 06, 2008, 03:55:20 PM
So I figure this is gonna be a decent summer of movies.
So why not gather up and catch them as a group?

So I know some of us already get-together here and there for some movies, but if anyone wants to contact or post random thoughts about some of the Summer blockbusters might as well have a thread to do it-
I'm busy this weekend and theres tons of competition for other gathering, but I figure what the heck :P

Look at this list of movies! Talk about intense.
Discuss and plan.
Wootz.

After reading the reviews for Kung Fu Panda, i'm interested in checking it out. Too soon for a gathering for that

The rest of the movies are feasible, specially for Dark Knight, Get Smart, The Happening, The Incredible Hulk, Wall-E, Hancock, Hellboy II and X-Files II. I'm down with whatever movie we choose lol

Everyone forgets The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor on August 1st.

Brendan Fraser and Jet Li on the screen at the same time...seriously who cares if the movie is good...I'm just excited to see two of my all time favorite movie stars in the same film!

Between this and Dark Knight...no summer movie season will ever be this good again! ;D

I saw The Strangers and it was really, really terrible..  :P  Such a disappointment after the trailers made it look good, and with critics saying stuff like "you won't sleep for weeks" was too much hype, sadly.  It wasn't even in the category of "torture-porn" flicks like "Saw" or "Hostel", just a bad suspense film with little shock-factor and tooo slow.  Heck, I'm now tempted to watch "Vacancy" again.. :D

good part about it was that i saw it for free, but like Samuel L. Jackson said in a movie: "What I want.. is my TIME back.  Can you give me back my TIME?!"

...

...I... do not support such an endeavor. >_O It might be anime, but that doesn't mean it's worth the ticket.

I agree about the Bleach movie in theaters.  1. it's only playing in Century/Cinemark theaters (no AMC, Regal, Landmark, etc.), 2. it's only playing for 2 nights (most movies play in theaters for one week or longer) and 3. it's dubbed   :P   And like the Death Note live-action movie last month, they'll probably have the behind-the-scenes part in Japanese with English subtitles.  why can't they have done that with the movie itself?

originally i wanted to go to the movie and host a cosplayer gathering at my theater, but tomorrow (Thursday) i'll be heading home after work to watch Game 4 of the NBA Finals.  ;)

Post by: heeroyuy135 on June 11, 2008, 11:02:29 PM
Actually, the behind-the-scenes for the Bleach movie was made by Viz, thus it's in English.
And it's a good thing I went today, I don't want to go tomorrow since NBA Finals > Bleach movie

Supposedly theres a NEW Hooters in Campbell.

I hear the waitlist for seating is about a 2 hour wait.
Either its REALLY popular, or the Wings are THAT good.

I wonder why... What the heck is a Hooters?

We might as well plan a gathering for either WALL-E 6/27   or Dark Knight 7/18 .

The earlier we plan the more likely I'll be able to hang out with you ladies and gents!

Supposed to be July 10th (dvd release is tuesday)
some are suppose to have a free voucher (while supplies last sorta thing) for a free movie ticket to TDK (at first i thought this stood for something else)...

Yah different animators (probably the SAME ONES as animatrix) telling several mini shortstories lines of how batman became known as the "dark knight"

uber cool and some of the anime design/styles are WILD

I`m leaving in a few minites to see The love guru in union city.I`ll wait to see get smart on a dvd rental.

Also last weekend saw The Hulk and thought it was better than I was expecting.I`d give it 8 out of 10 stars.

I plan on going to see WALL-E this weekend with a friend of mine. We haven't seen each other in a while, and I think he would enjoy the movie.

There's been a change of plans, I won't be able to join up with my friend this weekend to see WALL-E and he's also short on cash. So, we decided that will go next weekend.

I saw the midnight showing of Wanted and liked it a lot. :D   My theater isn't getting it but we're getting Wall-E instead so I'll try and watch it a few times before I go to AX in 5 days!  :)

hey WANTED can be a date movie too.

who else would want to hang out with a hot chicha like Angelina while being a badass assassin. (heh heh, it has the word ass twice.)  :P

Robots are cool too.

Next up:

HANCOCK - Will smith.
Superhero gone astray...
Blockbuster or Flop?

Discuss.

It's Will Smith.  If it's going to be horrible, at least he'll have a couple of smartass comments about it... and some of the recent commericals have presented it more as a comedy/drama, so I'm a little intrigued...

Even though they probably ripped off this idea from a comic book(the idea sounds familiar) I still feel like seeing this movie.

What`s Will`s religon have to due with wether this movie is any good?

Anyway over 5000 people gave an average of 6.8 stars out of 10 on the Imdb.com website which means I`ll probley like it even more than 6.8 stars.
