Hello, I was just wondering if Fanime ever has any contest for badge/ program guide/ t-shirt art? I mostly see the same art style, and while most of it is good it does tend to get a bit boring from year to year.
So does Fanime plan on having a contest or something? How would an interested artist ever get the chance?
The art is in anime style every year, but I think they rather have to stick to that... I don't see very many similarities in the art style beyond that, even within the same year. I think I see at least three or four different styles even within just the 2008 program guide.
Fanime's art is created each year by the Artist Pool. You can contact them at
[email protected] . The artists are on fanime staff too. You put in your time pre-con and just get to enjoy con. there may be some hour limitations but Art Pool should know more about that.
I am on the staff on the artist pool and all the artwork is drawn by us. :3 My art specifically was on the back of the program this year.
You can always ask using the email that the person above me provided but the artist pool is actually a group of us that have been hired to do the artwork. All I can say is that it is always a possibility to be hired on the staff, but for now, i believe that we are full up.
I came to Fanime for the first time last year in 2007. I got a table and sold my art in the alley. I was approached by the Fanime staff and was asked to join their staff since they needed some more people.
So, with that being said, my best advice is to sell your work in the alley; you never know what could happen! :3
