Looks like we've got an upgraded version of the DS (http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/02/nintendo-announces-the-dsi/) on the way. No GBA cartridge slot anymore, but it has dual touchscreens now that are a bit larger, an SD slot, built-in cameras (yes, it comes with two, one inside and one outside), and a DSi apps store (as well as some internal storage to download to if you don't have an SD card inserted).
If it works with my special card then I'll get it, my DS and DS lite both broke (first gen models fail)
no GBA slot is so fail.
still, its not bad considering the features it will be packing. sadly, i'm pretty sure i will be buying this when it does come out.
Well, I'll get it regardless, I have every nintendo handheld out. Virtual Boy doesn't count, that's a head held (and a headache.)

I'll probably wind up getting it since I never did get around to going from original DS to DS Lite. I suppose the dropping of the GBA slot is the writing on the wall as far as the GB platform as a whole is concerned. You don't see too many GBA games out on the market these days compared to DS games, so Nintendo's winding the platform down, even though they're saying that the DSi is supposed to be complimentary platform rather than a replacement (gee...didn't they say the same about the GBA and the DS previously?).
definately ill get it i got the old model and upgrade wil be awsome ds lite phails imo
The "dual-touchscreens" thing may just be a rumor/mistake. It definitely has two cameras though (a small camera pointing towards the player and a 3 megapixel camera on the outside shell). The SD card slot and DSWare platform seem pretty cool.
I too never moved to the DS lite. I still have my DS I got the very first day they were released *huggles it*. This thing has been through many roadtrips and I love it. I will be getting this most likely.

Yeah, a lot of the early articles covering the Japanese announcement are getting corrected to remove mention (or scratch it out) of dual touch screens and later articles aren't mentioning them, either.
and the SD cards do what?

They're there to store stuff on. Photos taken/edited, sound files, downloads from the DSi store, etc.
I heard its also wireless wii compatable :d i dont know
but I do want to get this X) because the website makes it look so sexellent with its cameras and SD card but I will miss my pink DS lite
ffffff the original DS looked like a microwave
Doesn't the normal DS have wii compatibilities? I think Pokemon Revolution and Pokemon D/P can link up through WiFi but I'd love if someone who's actually played them both correct/confirm this.
weeel according to G4 (lolz) they just said that nintendo announced that the DSi's are region locked (it sucks if you wish to import one) because of the internet usage for each region in japan and that theres a parental control device X)
soooo :T we gotta wait forever for the U.S release
guys heres the reason DSi isnt coming this xmas for us...nintendo of America believes that the DS lite is selling like crazy *look up the MPD's on DS it will blow your mind how many nintendo is selling* that it doesnt need to have another handheld cuz well in the US they r making alot of money and no competition for it.
BUT over in japan the psp has been outselling the DS for a while and nintendo feels that they need to make a new one to overtake psp in japan and regain the lead in all handheld gaming markets.
and its not bad either showing off thier games at TGS *tokyo game show...E3 version for them* with casual and a lot of hardcore games like sin and punishment 2 and........a haruhi adventure game...yes u haruhi cosplayers there is a part in the game where u do the dance.

it looked like a point and click adventure game like back in the day but given it only showed about 20 secs of gameplay in that montage of games Nintendo showed last week. oh well we shall see soon what it is.
