I'd think doing it on the Friday would be best when everyone is fresh and energetic, in the afternoon around 4 maybe.

umm has anyone volunteered to be the one in charge of the gatherings and letting people know when it will be yet?
because of my natural instincts... IM 50% wanting to be the one in charge now since ive checked the other threads and no one has YET to offer to volunteer from what i know. i personally want to videoshoot it like i did this year.
do you guys think it would be easier to just get an idea of a general day for the gathering on the thread, then when the day comes and more people want to do it... i just walk around with maybe a sign or something telling people that it will be here and this time etc. ALSO ANOTHER QUESTION.. HOW DOES A GATHERING/PHOTOSHOOT get on the fanime program?

Gatherings are completely run by the people who attend. While there has been talk about trying to get a Cosplay Gathering list into the official Fanime schedule, it just isn't possible. The program guides have to be run several weeks before the start of the convention to be printed in time and the Gathering List tends up change up until the day before and sometimes even of the convention. If you look in the Cosplay section, there's a thread started and managed by BSaphire "Official Fanime 09 Cosplay Gatherings List." If you want to schedule a gathering, make a post there with all the relevant information (day, time, location, etc) and she'll handle adding it to the master list on that thread. There's also a good chance she'll be working overtime and setting up the Cosplay Gathering lists at the con like she did last year to inform attendees when gatherings are. That's about the closest you'll get to advertisement of Gatherings. To walk around the con with a large sign or shouting might not be as effective and can be obstructive in such a crowded environment. Should you see Gurren-Lagann cosplayers it might be best to approach them and politely inform them about the gathering if they wish to attend.

I will not start posting gatherings until after the 1st of the year and returning gatherings of over 60+ peeps take precedence on time &/or space because these are large draws, many photograhers are at them, and the crowd for these gatherings are large. I have some Q&A listed here on gatherings:

As for advertisment of this gathering I have large blue boards that I position around the convention center that has all the finalized gatherings listed on them so other attendees can find the info. As EX mentioned in their post, putting the gatherings into the program would not be productive for the gatherings. The dead line for that is way to early and since gatherings are not decided around Fanime programming many adjust or tweek here and there all the way up to my deadline and I would rather have as many on the list as possible than to exclude anyone.
So feel free to check out the list and look over the Q&A. If you have any questions after that then post your question on that thread because I do not look through the gathering threads all the time (especially when last year had 66 gatherings ^^)

srry about the long response i just got back from maid training and a busy weekend. im pushing for saturday and sunday like how it was before last year. maybe not the same time wise last year but i guess alot of people wouldn't mind it on sat and sun like everyone elses gatherings. a few yokos suggested friday and i understand why since being yoko would be hard on a sat and sun then compared to fri. i don't mind friday either its just im arriving late that day and im bringing with me the flag that will be mounted on a pole so that it can wave in the air and people will reconize us well! ;D i was just thinking it would look better thats all.
hopefully i can get back to you on this soon. still trying to figure out the planning of things and such...
I think Saturday and Sunday is something I would prefer. Because I can probably only show for the Saturday gathering.
Hey there guys! I've Naxul on the coscom forums and I just wanted add in what some of them were saying about time & date.
So I think mainly people would want this gathering (or one of them) to be on Saturday, but more into the afternoon, like around 4 or 5 PM ish~ There's already going to be a lot of gatherings earlier that day anyways so, yeah! I hope we can pick out a time soon :3

Hey, is this still happening? There hasn't been a spot claimed. I'd love to show up, and I'd try to convince some of my friends to (we're doing TTGL for Open House this weekend), but because of Masquerade, I can't do Saturday. If it's not opposite other commitments and it's Saturday, I'll come to take photos, but my masq costume is a little too intense to pull off a quick costume change.
I am up for Saturday at 4-5pm or anytime really. I'll be going as time skip Rossiu.

For the past 2 years, we've done something with the theme (although this year was really vague), organizing a large group cosplay and making our booth look like something from our anime of choice. Two years ago, we did One Piece (the theme was "Oceans of Discovery), crafting our booth into the Going Merry. Last year, we did Baccano! (theme: "Destination Cal Poly), turning the booth into the train. This year, it's TTGL, turning the booth into Dai-Gurren. ^___^ If I could recruit everybody I know is cosplaying for Open House at Fanime, we'd have at least the Black Sisters, Simon, Nia, Gimmy, Viral, and myself as timeskip-Yoko to add to the group.

Kuroshitsuji. There's a lot of problems though, mostly arising from the fact that our group takes masquerade (particularly day of) pretty seriously. We kinda have to in order to successfully coordinate as large a group as we have. If this year is anything like last, I'd say the only way a Saturday TTGL gathering would happen for me would be if it was at 10AM. But I'm just one person, so don't worry too much about me. I'd do my best to make any other day. ^.^
Oh and for extra irony I will be carrying a sign the reads. "It's ok. I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

wow... so thats what an open house is.. hmm i only went to visit the outside of cal poly once. id hella want tot go there now that they have students who do such a wonderful thing! man. it would be great having all of you guys come. i know its such a long distance away but i mean last year we didn't have much of the sisters (posttime and timeskip) or even gimmy and others.

Is this gathering still happening? If so, I suggest having the gathering on Sunday because based on the few posts here, I see that people are busy due to the masquerade.

How about we do two gatherings? One on Saturday in the late afternoon, say around 4pm and another Sunday later in the evening around 9:30pm or so so we can get some awesome twilight/night shots of the Gurren crew piercing the heavens!
