At least that is what the TV says.
Discuss! ;)
Turn on the Tv and get off the internets. He won the election. ;)
McCain just said so.
im watching the tv.
So, what do you think of it?
I actually voted McCain...but totally forgot that I could have written in someone. XP
I didn't really want to vote for either. I was a Huckabe (sp?) Supporter. ;>_>
YEAH! We aren't getting a third Term! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
John McCain put up one hell of a fight, especially over the last few days, and I think he gave a very wonderful speech just a while ago. This truly has been a presidential election of historical proportions, but all I can say is that 2009 will be a very, VERY interesting year.
I am just happy we have someone new...hopefully he'll keep to his word. I'm actually skeptical, and it's hard to get in a frame of mind that there will be a change. Change takes a hell of a lot of time to get things set right....and it's gonna take a ton of time to fix and organize the mess we got going on here. :/
Yeah, I heard. I was heading out for dinner this evening when a bunch of people from my dorm building came rushing out and cheering for Obama. Crazy stuff. lol.
Well at least no more Bush economics :]
My politics are showing. I am so PROUD of my Country right now. I'm too happy right now to put good words to my thoughts...but good gravy am I PROUD!!!
Unfortunately, I won't believe it until I see it. But I am mildly hopeful. It's healthly to at least TRY and be optimistic.
I voted for Bus- *gets sniped*
I'm watching cnn.com :P
what a landslide
First non white president!
That will knock my race off it's high chair.

[shrugs]
He is not effectively white.
Many of us are not effectively white. XD
And to derail the entire topic for a short irrelevant comment (becuase my brain just works like that)
I am soooo not white...but I was called a cracker yesterday. O_o?????
So now I am ethicaly confused.

I would categorize someones effectiveness as a race by two factors:
A)The faction of a race in the persons blood.
-AND-
B)What race they do look like.
For instance, I'm 3/4th white, and look white, so I'm effectivly white.
Obama is 1/2 white 1/2 black, but looks black, so is black.
A usually trumps B in most cases.
Now, back on topic...
*slaps a Heinz 57 sticker on self*
I'll just go with this. Cuz no one can really tell what I am from looks. Unless they're like...totally gifted.
Anyways....
I am happy all the political phonecalls stopped! XD I was getting 3-4 calls almost every day. O_o
I voted today took a while there was 3 different places to vote and one had my name on it, anyway I voted on that Electronic Ka-jigger fast foward like 7-8 hours I found who won. After seeing Judgement at Nuremberg for my film class, and when it was done my Film Professor opened a web page and on the screen is BIG blue letters OBAMA WINS! So yeah.
I'm a bit bummed that Prop 8 was passed.
OBAMA WON :3 I was at an Obama Party oh man his speach was so moving I was at the point of tears.

According to my news its at a 48 Percent very close..but still I want to think that there is hope but this could change
only 39% of all precincts have reported, so it could all change overnight; yes is at 53%, no at 47%.
these numbers will change overnight, and hopefully when we wake up tomorrow morning, it will be receiving good news.

Oh it better, they deserve every right the same as everyone else. We are at a point in history where it has to be no on 8.

39% precincts? Where are you getting that? I'm seeing 88% precincts reporting and Obama is 349 to 159.
What is this good news that you're hoping it to be?

You voted yes or no? *prepares some large blunt objects*
The celebrations shown all over my town looked like as if the Empire had just been defeated by the Rebel Alliance. XD (although this does mean darth cheney and his influence are gone from the white house.) Someone showed up at school today wearing a board that said "yes we can".
I'm glad Obama won, but I'm very disappointed that Prop 8. from what I've heard, lost. :(
Now we shall see if true change comes. It will be quite a while until we really see a difference, but hopefully America's appearance to the rest of the world improves quickly. I know my friends in Europe and Canada were partying over Obama winning.
4% difference!! damnit!!!
;_; It's such a shame. But I am glad my gay friends got married before this.
Obama! w00t! Its about time, we need a Democratic president.
As for prop 8...
Seriously, what the hell man?
That pisses me off that prop 8 lost.
What happened to equality?
*coughcoughdiscriminationcough*

Actually, Prop 8 won.
The gay marriage bill will be back next time. When a group of people feels an incredible amount of passion for their cause that words itself cannot describe, they will fight hard to get this issue back on the ballot for whenever the next election is.
But I am impressed with the close call on prop 8. This same-sex marriage law in California has been fought over for decades with the opposing side winning by a lot of votes(Prop 22 in 2000 won 61% to 39% and tried to define marriage only between a man and woman). So if the No side of Prop 8 can come this close, imagine what we'll be capable the next time it goes back on the ballot.
The Prop 8 winners may have won the fight, but they haven't won the war :D.
Yea, it was a bit off-topic, but I thought I'd say something to console everyone who's happy about Obama as president, but sad about Prop 8. ;__;
Thanks ;) I was pretty saddened about prop 8.
So are you saying that you're glad gays can't marry and that there is no equality in this state, meaning that its ok to discriminate?

It was obvious that I was corrected on that before your response. O_o And if you really paid attention, you'd know what my opinion was, if you browse Serious Business.
Just to clarify, I am upset with prop 8. I am sad it passed.
Ah I see know, I just got a bit confused...
