Title: Shikabane Hime Aka, TokyoTosho intervention by Funimation.
Post by: Jun-Watarase on November 08, 2008, 01:51:30 PM
As if FUNimation hasn't ruined enough series, I found it funny when I searched for Shikabane Hime Aka on TokyoTosho, it takes me to a page with this (http://tokyotosho.com/funimation-2008-10-22.htm):

QuoteHello,

Please see URL for press release.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2008-10-20/funimation-entertainment-acquires-shikabane-hime-aka-for-north-american-release
FUNimation has acquired Shikabane Hime: Aka. We will begin to stream subtitled episodes starting this Friday through Hulu, YouTube, Joost and FUNimation.com for free.

Please remove this title from your English subtitled series torrent listings from your website.

Please let me know if you have any questions. See the DMAC notification below.

Thanks,

Holy crap. I mean, I know geeks stereotypically lack fashion-sense, but I see plenty of fans that look lime normalfags day by day. This guy is exceptionally creepy. lol

But yes, has this sort of thing happened before? I may be out of the loop, but I've never seen a dubbing company actually take the time to intervene with a large torrent site like Tokyo Toshokan before. I normally see subbers stop distributing stuff on their own for their own sake of integrity. Weird.

I wonder if FUNimation has done this for other series they've licensed. Shikabane Hime Aka was an okay series, and I was growing to like it towards the 3rd episode or so. Hm.

Streaming subbed episodes... for free? (With ads, I presume?)

I'll consider checking it out.

Haha, that dude posted a picture of himself on tokyotosho?

Jesus christ that dude looks abnormally scary, he looks like one of those scary stalker otaku in Comic Party. He's the kind of person I wouldn't allow to take a picture of me, lord knows what he does to the pics after...
