Hi and welcome to the forums!

I don't know exact times, but from what I remember of last year I arrived around noon on Friday and things were going on. And on Monday I think the closing ceremonies start around 5. I'm sure someone else can give you actual times, but I hope this helps to give you an idea.

There are also a few things happening on Thursday in the afternoon. Early badge pick-up, swap meet, and once there was even a small concert for those who had pre-registered. If you can arrive Thursday morning it will give you plenty of time to unpack and get settled in before the con. As for Monday, there usually isn't much going on, I've always run out of things to do or spend money on before closing ceremonies even began.

Welcome to the forums! :)

FanimeCon officially starts on Friday afternoon with our Opening Ceremonies. However, we have some small events for those that show up on Thursday (you'll have to wait until they're officially announced though). FanimeCon ends on Monday following our Closing Ceremonies which is usually around 4p., and our Feedback Session* which is usually shortly after Closing Ceremonies.

*This is where our members get to give us feedback on ALL aspects of our event. In this past, there has been some confusion as to who was invited, so I'm posting this as a reminder.
**Events and times posted are subject to change. Always check while planning.

*** personal views only and NOT OFFICIAL ***
[all events and times subject to change of time and location]

From General experience:

Thursday, May 21st 2009 [psuedo preview night]
Basically an extra early edition of [pre-reregistered paid attendees ONLY] will be able to pick up their badges.
usually this is where SWAP MEET happens, for all the dirt poor attendees (like me] sell, buy and trade off their personal wares to earn $$$ for the rest of their expensive weekend. Also this would be an ideal time to check in so that you dont have to deal with the nightmare of having to worry about the Friday craziness [assuming you could afford an extra day]

on RARE occasions we may also have a teaser music fest of a small [but growing] local bands playing a small concert.

Friday, May 22nd 2009:
the "official start" be will opening Ceremonies [subject to change] on possibly Stage Zero where last year they had a Takio Drum opening to start off.

Sometimes [assuming all goes well] The dealers room will attempt to open on Friday sometime between 12noon and or 3pm [again depending on how quickly set up takes] SO buyers please be patient.

Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24 2009:
This is where the majority of the good stuff happens :D

Everything from panels galore, 24-hour video rooms, the epic dealers room, Cosplay gatherings, Maid Cafe, Music Fest, Dances, the Masquerade show, the Black&White and all the usual crazy antics on the main concourse (walk ways of the Con) itself happen pretty much all at the same time. Keep your helmet on, it will be a awesome adventure.

Monday, May 25th 2009:
Usually known as "sobering up day" and "who the heck did I sleep next to this morning.  ??? Usually a few [but still important] panels, cosplay events, and yes the Closing Ceremonies and if you must there is also a GRIPE session as well. Usually most people have to check out of their hotels by 12noon and have the hassel of dragging around 5+ suitcases of costumes, anime spoils and the occasional dead body [seriously theres ALWAYS one on the group :P] and usually closing ceremonies are usually somewhere in the time frame of 3pm to 5pm (including the GRIPE session) and basically consider Fanime DONE by 6pm Monday.

Thats when some of the staff (or sometime all day monday) get totally wasted on congratulations on surviving another Con with minimal casualties and maybe the report of some missing underage volunteer. [who knows :P] that we find later passed out at home.

All in all, just be ready for anything... but most importantly have a FREAKIN AWESOME time at the Con.
