Title: Question
Post by: roth14 on February 04, 2009, 10:50:49 PM
Can anyone give me their opinion on taking a person you are dating to fanime. I want to go with this person in cosplay but he is hesitant (anit-socialness) but before i make the effort is it really a fun experience to cosplay with with a person you are dating? Or is it more troublesome then it is?

well, it would really have to be something he is comfortable with, and fanime might not be the best place to start if he isnt entirely comfortable being around a LOT of people, especially in a costume. i'd say to go together, but as normal otakuish people first.

I just find it really fun to cosplay with someone else in general (most people just assume I'm dating whoever I'm cosplaying with ^^; ). If you guys do a duet, you'll get more attention for photos, though, which is something to consider if he doesn't want people taking pictures and whatnot.

hmm, thats right. My other question about this is that are fans usually respectful if you don't want to do a certain picture with them or pose if you say no?

From my personal experience, it's much harder to be antisocial in costume than it is as a normal person. He might feel a bit foolish at first, but he might get swept up in the fun of it.

I think it would be fun to cosplay with your mate at Fanime...I am looking forward to cosplying with my BF at Fanime this year X3
But if he isn't comfortable then you shouldn't push it on him...unless he is interested in cosplaying or wants a place to start.
Otherwise he could always hold your bag while you pose for a picture :D
