First we had The Worst Sequel thread, then the Worst Remake thread, so It's time to have a "Worst Adaptation thread.
Post some of the worst movies adapted from another source (I.E. T.V shows, Comic books, Video games, books, etc).
I'll start of with that classic comic-book movie adaptation from the 1980's: Howard the Duck
Street Fighter.
Twilight......

Just thought I'd toss that out here and see what would happen. 8)
Gotta say X-Men: The Last Stand.

Super Mario Bros. to t.v. show.
Super Mario Bros, to tv show, to movie, and THEN back to tv shows.
lol
and the comment about Twilight is my own biased opinion. So yes, it is to an extent, the Truth. lawl.
Three words:
Lost in Space.
Eragon... not that the book was that great, but how did they make the movie WORSE?
A Series of Unfortunate Events. They raped the books.
The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.
The killed the whole franchise for me.

Could be worse, could be the miniseries from the 80s or whenever they made it.

Naw, the T.V. series (from 1981) was
Much better. At least the story strayed true to the radio series.
I've got the ultimate winner right here. The Double Dragon movie.
I liked the recent movie, but I'm sure it was only cause I've read all the books. Yes, it was different from the books, but it wasn't a bad movie. (and Alan Rickman was so good as Marvin, and Bill Nighy as Slartibartfast)

I completely agree that things can be good because they're so bad, but we must acknowledge that they're bad.

In the case of the 1981 one, it was true to the radio series, but I thought the visual aspect was unwatchable. In this case I'd rather just listen to it and leave the rest to the imagination. The new movie had some brilliant designs. I particularly liked the scene where Slartibartfast is taking Arthur on a tour of the factory, it was very nicely done. Obviously they didn't have the same special effects capabilities in 1981, so it can't really compare, but it was generally kind of dull.
I'm going to predict... Dragon Ball. o:!

For the time, the visuals wee quite good (especially the "Guides" animations) and were much better than the effects of the time BBC were doing for shows like Dr. Who and Blakes Seven, but there is more than just effects that make an adaptation bad.
Example: Logans Run (1975) had atrocious effects, but was quite good in other aspects (even though it strayed from the novel somewhat.
Example 2: Howard the Duck had some really good effects, but failed in every other way (acting, story, music, you name it).

But here we have one of the holy grails of movie crapola:
DOA
I notice a trend were mostly bad video games turned into movies.
and of course its ALWAYS hard to please fans of book into Movies.
not all movies can be like Harry Potter and i bet some of you out there have issues with HP im guessing. :P

On an opposite note, I enjoy the Star Wars books based on the movies more than the movies, but still love the movies.. >_>

You have to admit that, being a Uwe Boll film, it's like shooting fish in a barrel when picking that as one of the worst movie adaptations ever.
Of course, it's no surprise that he's up for a lifetime achievement Razzie this year.

I took all his other adaptations into consideration, but if you take into account the actual content that exists in that game..........well, its pretty much a no-brainer.

The characer he plays on "How I Met Your Mother"
is like he was in H&KgtWC. That's how he got the part for HIMyM.
Today, I stayed home, sick in bed. I had been sleeping on my arms. I got up quickly to grab the phone. My numb left arm rocketed and punched me in the (now cut) lip, which threw me off balance, making me smash my (now bloody) nose off of the headboard. It was a telemarketer. FML

Ironically [SPOILER] they DID allude to a sequel where Gen tells Chun Li they need a to find a Ryu [something something] apparently no one knows Ryu's real last name. before the next Tournament.
it would be interesting to see his [and by default] Ken's backstory to the whole scheme of things in the Street Fighter Universe.

arg its all black and dark.. ohh hmm yea i was thinking the same thing. if they added more affects and stuff then that would be good. i was watching a review where they got interviewed and i think alot of them said how much they wanted fans to think that this movie was almost like the game...
well we fans are critical... it wasn't all fail but yea they can do better.
i hope they do in the future
