Kazuko, venusivy and I plan on hosting a panel going over lolita fashion that ends with a small fashion show showcasing each substyle. Right now we're gathering people interested in modeling in the fashion show. We're looking for real people. Age, weight and height don't really matter. :) Just keep in mind that if you don't have your own outfit to wear that the loaner outfits are limited and we might not be able find something right for you.
Models must be-
*18 or over
*Willing to commit to the project. If you're not able to be in the show after all please let us know right away so we can find a replacement.
*Able to show up an hour before the panel to check in and rehearse
(We're looking for 2-4 people for each substyle/theme so don't worry if someone else already said they wanted to wear the same substyle as you.)
Substyles we'd like to include-
• -Sweet
• -Gothic
• -Classic
• -Casual
• -Aristocrat
• -Boystyle
Common themes we'd like to include-
• -Kuro/Shiro
• -Hime
• -Country
• -Sailor
• -Pirate
• -Steampunk
• -Wa/Qi Lolita
• -Guro Lolita
If you're interested please contact me (reply here, PM me or send me an email at
[email protected]) with the following info-
1. Which sub-style(s) or theme(s) you'll be wearing.
2. A photo of yourself in what you plan on wearing (or if you want to model but don't have your own outfit then a photo of yourself and your bust & waist measurements so we can try to find an outfit for you to borrow). If there are multiple outfits you're choosing between or multiple sub-styles or themes you'd be willing to wear, feel free to include pictures of many outfits.
3. An outfit rundown-What brand(s) which parts of your outfit are from. (Your outfit doesn't need to be made up out of brand items. Well made, truly lolita homemade or offbrand outfits are welcome, we'd just like to see a photo of it first)
4. Email address to keep you updated between now and Fanime.
If you'd like to offer up some of your clothes for other girls who do not have their own to borrow during the fashion show please let me know. It would be super helpful if you could include photos of what you have to offer and measurements of each item.
*If you don't know what this whole Lolita thing is all about check out the lolita handbook on LJ-http://lolita-handbook.livejournal.com (http://lolita-handbook.livejournal.com)
c: I would love to help out as much as I can, I have a casual sweet lolita outfit that I can wear if you want me to model or I could help you co-host. I have been into lolita fashion since 2002 so about 7 or 8 years haha.
I would like to be a model. Are there any requirements to be model?
1. Do I need to send you a picture?
2. Age requirement
3. Height and Weight
4. What kind of lolita outfits are you looking for?
5. Any requirements on the outfit.

I wasn't going to ask for specific info until I knew for sure if this was happening, just trying to get an idea if there was interest out there but might as well get stuff ready just in case-
1. Yes please, more so to show the outfit you plan on wearing. You can post it here or send me a PM
2. Not really. 35 and under?
3. Nope, I'm looking for real people. Short, tall, skinny, chubby, it's all good.
4. I was hopping to find enough girls (or boys) to have a 2-3 people in each style- Sweet, Gothic, Classic, Punk, Aristocrat and Boystyle (if possible). I'm sure sweet lolitas will be the easiest to find so if you wear any other styles that would be prefered.
5. Just that it's truely lolita. No glued together cosplay with cat ears and a square dancing petticoat. It doesn't have to be brand, but if it's not brand then it needs to be well made and 100% lolita.

x) thanks! Cant wait to hear more from you
Im bumping this cause we still need models c:
I would be willing to model. I just don't know if my stuff is Lolita or aristocrat enough... I only have a couple jackets and a few black frilly shirts that I wear under them. I have some old jewelry and shoes I got from my grandmother that may work.
I would need someone to point out if this stuff is Lolita or Aristocratic enough or to loan me clothes to use. -.-; I love this stuff but I am no expert.
My crap stuff. (http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y215/IshiJcat/my%20stuff/) My skirts are useless and the dress is only useful for something like Guro Loli because of the stains. >.>; I also have that maid cafe stuff from the 1st year... >.>; If either of you could point out what might be useful, that would be awesome. It is stuff scraped together and definitely not brand.
I figure that I probably will have to borrow stuff.
I would prefer to do either Punk or Aristocrat/Boystyle... But my resources are extremely limited. -.-;
I don't mind Gothic or something like Gurololita but I'll take what is available... -.-;
[Edit: I'll see about modifying a black skirt and something else into a petticoat.]
I am willing to both model and lend out outfits (I wouldn't have enough pettis for every outfit, though...), but it depends on when the panel will be, since there are times that I wouldn't be able to do it (especially Monday). Everything of mine is homemade, but fully lolita and high quality (or high enough that you wouldn't know otherwise unless you looked inside ;P).
I'm mostly sweet (but not too over the top... you might want some brand to showcase sweet unless you wanted to show OTT prints + OTT non-prints + more subtle prints + more subtle non-prints to show many different forms of sweet) and classic, but I do have a couple of dresses that can be coordinated to either gothic or classic (and one can probably go punk is someone is good enough at coordinating darker styles, which I'm not), so those can be whatever you need. I also have a skirt that is easily sailor, so if you want to show some themed outfits, we can have sailor.
I'm also constantly sewing, so by con time I'll probably have a lot more outfits that can be shown.
But again, I have to know when the panel will be before I can commit to anything.
To answer any questions of "omg do I need to have brand to model" You dont have to shell out for brand, in fact handmade and off brand are welcome but we will require a photo of what you will be modeling in and if there is anything that may be changed
@Sunara: I can only see the green coat and the black vest that can be loliable, I think the green coat make a great steampunk lolita. I recommend that you check out the link J9 has mentioned. Plus you are free to borrow clothes as well, we will have some on hand but we may need measurements. Since lolita brands are all based on measruments, also keep in mind lolita and maid have no correlation with eachother though there are some aspects such as the use of heart aprons and lace top socks
@Nina: I would like to see your items c: I mean off brand and handmade are totally welcome, we are hoping to have the pannel on saturday but we wont officially know till fanime gets back to us on our date and time, we actually will be mentioning theme styles as well. Our pannel will try to cover all the styles as much as possible also in our fashion show as well

Ok. Thanks. I should see if I can find some examples of steampunk. I'd love to play with that in general. I'm trying to modify a long black skirt but it may not turn out right.
I'll get you my measurements. I probably would end up borrowing a skirt or whatever you two think is best for me to wear.
I just wanted to throw out there that I had that stuff... Thanks for reminding me though.
As a note, we don't generally confirm panel times until a few weeks prior to the convention. We might be able to give you a general idea before then though. It's generally much more effective for the panelist to clue us in to what events they don't want to be scheduled against, and then try to accommodate that. Masquerade will be on Sunday this year, so Saturday -is- probably a better day for something like this.

We are actually hoping for saturday c: thanks for the note though!
I forgot to mention that I'm rather small, and since I made all of these clothes for myself... well, they are rather small, as well. If that is a problem (since things can always be pinned on the inside to be smaller but cannot be made larger), then maybe I will just model one thing and not lend anything. (I'm not too small - about 32"-24"-36", so someone who can fit into most brands would probably fit, I'm just giving you fair warning.)
I apologize for the bad mirror shots, but since I don't have a tripod/otherwise suck at self-timer shots, I don't have much of an other option. I can take more detailed shots of the clothes themselves if you want.
Classic/Gothic (?):

http://i42.tinypic.com/27yv7fp.jpg (Lame backshot... that is a ruffled underskirt underneath)
http://i39.tinypic.com/309ljwx.jpg
http://i40.tinypic.com/2qvw6mf.jpg (That's a fully shirred top and a close up of one of the 10 ribbon roses around the hem. I can get a better detail shot if anyone wants.)
Sweet:
http://i40.tinypic.com/55jqm9.jpg (Attack of the zombie face?)
http://i41.tinypic.com/vwv151.jpg (Attack of the stupid face?)
This dress has three small bows down the front and a shirred back, but I don't have better shots of that right now. This one is a bit larger, as well, unless I tailor it down to fit me before Fanime.
http://i40.tinypic.com/2ziofwm.jpg (Non-loli coord, but you can see the skirt well)
http://i39.tinypic.com/2howzh4.jpg (I'm not sure about this dress, because the colour bled on the hearts so I don't know if it can be salvaged, so don't get your hopes up too much.)
I am also planning on making a yellow sweet/classic dress with fabric flowers attached very soon, so I can post pics of that as soon as I get it finished. I also have a coupld more outfits, but I don't really want those shown. If you are really having a hard time finding another classic dress (one that is more subdued, with an A-line skirt and such), then I can offer up one of them, but it isn't as nice as these others.
I hope that helps, and that I can make it to the panel. :D As long as it doesn't conflict with the B&W Ball or the loli picnic (which would be pretty terrible) or the karaoke contest if I get brave and decide to join (again), I should be able to make it.
I updated the main post with more info for any interested models.

No worries about sizes. Having a variety of sizes of clothes for girls to borrow is perfect. I'm sure you're not the only girl on the smaller side. I really like your black dress and the red/white polkadot dress. I'm really hoping the panel will be between noon and 5 on saturday or if not then the same time on sunday. So it shouldn't conflict with anything major like the B&W Ball or Masquerade.
Yeah, I figured it wasn't quite right. Measurements sent by PM to you.
I do hope this doesn't end up conflicting with a gathering I was going to go to... If it does, I guess I'll just skip that. >.>;
Once I get my skirt made, I'll link a picture to get your opinions. I'm aiming for steampunk/gothic.
I'm happy to lend out just about anything from my wardrobe as well- it's mostly sweet with a bit of classic and gothic. Here's some of it- http://www.flickr.com/photos/venusivy/sets/72157602867086748/
Hi; this sounds like a very interesting panel! Question -- is there no way that minors can model for this? As a someone who's been into lolita fashion for a long time (okay relative to the others posting here, not THAT long), I recently got my friends into lolita, and some of them are signed into agencies & are looking for extra shows to do outside of typical gigs etc. We're all juniors in hs though, so that's like the 16-7 age range :<;;
If you can't accommodate, don't worry about it :] Just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask! (Btw, I can also lend a wardrobe if need be, but my stuff is custom-fit (~size 00; yes, I have no hips = =).)

Thanks ^^;; Most of it's brand (actually, all of the things on my flickr page are), so they are typical brand sizing of about 36-38" for the bust and 26"-30" for the waist. A couple things are bigger/smaller, but in general most things are that size. I bring a lot of stuff to Fanime anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem to bring extra things down ^^
Hello! I am very interested in modeling for the panel/fashion show. I plan to wear a an aristocrat outfit. I shall send you PM with a picture and other information.
We've actually got tons of models so far. :) We're pretty maxed out on sweet lolitas but there is still at least one space for each other style. Give me a couple days and I'll update the first post with exactly how many spots of left in each substyle/theme.

You should PM j9isawesome letting her know you will model and such
a basic rundown of the panel will be all about lolita fashion, what it is, whats not considered lolita, trends, ect with the last bit of the panel for the "models" to walk down the runway while we explain the outfit and read what you are wearing
Hi! I would like to contribute to your panel by providing some my Wa lolita designed outfits. They are one size fits all but I make them to fit me or smaller (I am a size 8 misses), I do make some larger ones. I like to create Wa Lolita outfits (some with a touch of Victorian Goth); some time I sells them at the artist tables or with my sister's Hilltribefusion products. Here a link to some I made in the past (sold all but the green top with flora trim and flora skirt one):

Hi, While you have cute fabrics, they arent decent examples of wa lolita. The skirt is way too shory (most skirts are usually at the knee or a little above the knee) and Tule usually doesnt peep out of the skirt in a big way. Also it is missing the Obi that is usually worn with most wa lolita outfits
I hope you're still taking models! (j9 i e-mailed you ^.^)
My h.naoto JSK is definitely not sweet lolita. I'm not sure what it falls under...But I'd love to model it!
Thanks =3
H.Naoto usually follows under either gothic or punk (depends on what it looks like and what subsect it is such as H.Naoto BLOOD or H.naoto frill) if you have a picture of it I could help you out c:
Sure thing. Here's a pic (sorry the quality of the picture is pretty bad T^T)
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q271/yonanashi/PICT0407.jpg
Its very cute and punk lolitaish c:
Just to add an opinion.
As cute as the design is, for Meer's dress, it actually isn't a lolita silhouette.
And for the Wa-lolita examples above, another reason for them not being lolita, would be that they do not portray what lolita is. A cute and conservative style (with the exception of ero-loli, which is more of a fetish than a fashion) with appropriate fabrics, frills/lace, and etc. The examples are mature and lack the general characteristics of what makes lolita. At best, it would be simply a kimono-inspired variation of a dress.
A common example of what lolita is this (http://nekopowaa.oldiblog.com/sites/images/photos/138/photo_1385016.jpg).
Ah, yea I agree. The h.naoto dress isn't the best and most accurate example of lolita. I researched and looked up lolita very much beforehand, so that's why I wasn't sure how to categorize the dress I have ^^;;;. Eh oh well I heart it regardless~
If it's not a good example for the panel, no worries. If there's no more room for models, I'll still try to stop by to see the fashion show ^.^
@meer: well that H.Naoto dress could be punk with some arm warmers and acessories that go well with the dress either way its pretty cute. Either way you should send it to J9 to let her know and she will decide. If not we will have some people who are sharing their wardrobes for the panel just email her your measurements as well.
I would also like to let everyone know who is interested in modeling, especially If you have modeling experience/just got into modeling... while it is a plus I would like to let you know an event like this will NOT build up your portfolio since everyone is going to either provide their own clothes or are borrowing from those who are letting people use their wardrobe Just letting you guys know!
j9isawesome, is it too late to raise my hands for modeling? I have one dress but not sure if you would want to use it...
I PMed a pic to you, thanks~ ;D
Hi! I'm actually interested in modeling.
Now, I've got to tell you- I am NOT a girl. I'm a boy.
I think I have THE perfect look that seems to be very marketable in the Gothic and Lolita industry:
I'm very effeminate and I naturally have the euro-asian androgynous look that seesm to be so mainstream in visual kei and J-rock.
(I think I emailed you my measurements)
however, even though I am a boy, I REFUSE TO WEAR BOY'S CLOTHING.
My style is more Emile Autumn inspired: a Victoriandustrial goth with a touch of steampunk.
My gallery is as follows: http://elexiel-grae.deviantart.com/gallery/#Self-portraits

Sorry the pix a bit too big... Please let me know about your decision. maybe you could give me a number to reach you at? Thanks!
Keep in touch
Hi, If you read the first post then you should have emailed all of that to
[email protected] if you are interested in modeling. There was no real reason to post many pictures of yourself unless maybe it was outfit advice or something like that

No I didn't need advice. and yes I did read.
I just forgot to add some information to the email I just sent you, so I added it here.
And I didn't know I wasn't supposed to post up my pix. I just felt like posting them up that way to be more visual.
You didnt mention anything about that. Sorry.
Well let me know about your decision.

*ehugs for everyone* It's no big deal. Sorry I hadn't responded to your email yet. We'll have boys wearing girly styles and girls wearing boystyle, that's fine by me. :) Do you own your own lolita clothes or would you need to borrow an outfit? If you're borrowing an outfit then I'll need your measurments (bust, natural waist, height).
I'm a little backed up on responding to models right now because we've had SO many people ask to model. I'll sort through everything on my next day off and list what styles we still need on my next day off, promise.
Actually more importantly, from the business aspect of this gig, I have a few concerns:
Is this a paid position? And if not, then are there going to be proffessional photographers? I would actually really like to recieve some copies of the shots that you get for my own personal portfolio if you don't mind.
And do you guys actually have an office where you do all your planning?
A phone number?
I actually wanted to exchange some contact information to get all of this set in stone...

I mentioned this earlier a page back that this is NOT an industry based panel and will NOT build up a modeling portfolio since the whole thing is voluntary (everyone is volunteering to be a model and some are providing clothes or bringing their own). Meaning no one is getting paied to do anything its pure volunteer work, We wont meet up till the day of panel (with the exception of the hosts since we are going to be working on the content for the panel)
I guess if you have any questions please feel free to IM me my aim is on the sidebar

Oh, I'm sorry, there seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding. Fanime is a very low key convention. "By the fans for the fans" and all that. This is not a profession portfolio building sort of thing. This is just a bunch of friends and some potential new friends throwing together a panel. We don't have an office to plan things out, most of the planning has been through AIM so far. If there happen to be any professional photographers that choose to come their photos are their own property and I doubt even I would receive copies of any shots. This is not paid, it's just for fun/we're asking for
volenteers.
I wish I were 18 so I can do this, I would totally participate! :D

umm...you know it was lowered to 16+ its said so two posts above you, no need to get so angry
mostly because of legal issues :P but yes since its just a panel i believe [and of course i could be wrong :P] so long as you have a written consent form i think that most things such as panels, Artist Alley and a few other things
you may be 16+ at the time of con and participate with a parental consent form.
Rena or other staff? - Confirm please?
its amazing how much minors want to be apart of everything nowadays. :P
what ever happen to just 'being a kid' ?
I wish i could go back to those supposed care-free days.

No one said anything about it being sexual. It's just that there are different laws for minors that want to work, for minors that want their photo taken, for everything.
Um, they're not talking about these individuals being on staff, just modeling Lolita for the panel.
There are, as someone else mentioned, various rules pertaining to photographing 'underage minors', so I'd assume that's the reason for the age limitations on how old the models need to be.
so with fanime in just a few days... when's the panel gonna be held? do we have a scheduled time yet?

The panel is already up on schedule
The Intro to Lolita Panel and Fashion Show is on Saturday from 11am to 1pm at the Marriot Salon 4:6Please Note that this is a TWO hour panel, One hour about lolita fashion, ect and the Second hour is the fashion show.
Thank you c:
I guess I can go ahead and still help out.
I was going to back out but I guess I don't need to.
But I still need an outfit to borrow. D:
What is going on there? Will there be stuff there for us to borrow on the day?
And do we need to show up at 10am for rehearsal?
Oddly enough, I can answer that last question for you. If there's a rehearsal, it isn't at the panel room. Panels start at 10am, and a different panel will be going on in the room at that time. ^^;;
The rehearsal will be in room L, downstairs in the convention center, at 10am. Thanks!
Great job, guys! I attended and it was really interesting and informative, and the fashion show was a treat. My boyfriend took a few pictures; most of them came out blurry due to the lighting, but I sorted through them and uploaded the best ones here: http://ddr.mytenser.com/v/fig/lolita_fashion_show/
Again, sorry if I don't have a picture of you from the fashion show, but he didn't take pictures of everyone and not all the pictures are nice and clear. Anyway, thanks lots for everyone's hard work, it was quite neat, and the only panel I was interested in seeing!

Sucrose~ Those are great pictures, the best I've seen from anyone by far. Do you mind if I link to them over on the the livejournal lolita community?
questionette~ Thanks for the vidoes. Oh my gosh, I sound SO nervous. LOL, every other word out of my mouth is umm or uh. I totally appreciate them tho, I just suggest everyone watched them on mute ;) Oh, do you mind if I include links to your videos on the LJ lolita community as well?
There were a few hiccups along the way but overall I think the panel/fashion show went great and I hope that everyone in it and those that came to watch it had a good time. I can't possibly express how grateful I am to everyone that had a part in this show. You girls (and boy) really gave it your all and should be very proud of yourselves. Thankyou all so much. :)
By all means! I wish he'd gotten a picture of your cute outfit but in the only one he took you were in like the middle of a sentence so I figured it was best to omit. XD
So... we should schedule you for a shorter time slot next year? ^-^;
Well if I had a chance to do everything the way I planned and all the models had shown up then it really would have been a full 2 hours. Unfortunately life kind of got in the way this year, in a way that will never happen again. Although if I do it again next year we'll just plan for less and squeeze it into an hour anyways. :)
:D No worries. You weren't the only panel that ended early! I wasn't sure exactly what happened, but we can definitely talk about it later. Life and the economy are hitting a lot of us hard this year I think.
@ j9 - No worries you sounded like you knew what you were talking about up there and you did a really great job of doing a sort of improv with each of the models :D Oh and I don't mind at all you can do whatever you want with the vids! Enjoy~
Wow better late than never, glad the panel was a success. I was nervous especially with the turn out we had c: lets try to do this again next year~
my only complaint was the girl who was video taping shouldn't have sat smack dab in the middle isle where the models were walking through It was kind of a road block and a friend of mine who was trying to take photos for the event was blocked.
