Title: Comic Con International 2009
Post by: G.I.R on March 19, 2009, 12:29:49 PM
I was able to get a hotel for Comic Con 2009 today!  Is anyone else going (San Diego Convention Center, July 23-26 2009, preview night July 22nd)?
I also see that single day passes are available again this year.

GUHHHHH~

I TOTALLY want to go, but I think by that time I'll either be in Japan or Korea. Most likely Korea. ;.;

Got my pass and my hotel and am ready to go! :)  (Well, I will have to buy plane tickets at some point.)

There's always Amtrak to.

That is very true; however, I am impatient and like to get places as quickly as possible. :D  (Although, out of curiosity, how long does it take to get from San Jose to San Diego by train?  Give me a book and portable video games and I'm good for several hours.)

Not sure about the time, but I can tell you the train station near several of the con hotels though.

That train ride would probably take about eight hours.  Give or take.  I'm already most of the way to San Diego though so I will be there again this year for sure!

Amtrak estimates 12 hours from San Jose to San Diego.  :o  Looks like it's the plane for me!

I know, the 4-day passes and Saturdays went crazy fast.  And I see Friday's sold out now too.  So much for recruiting more people for the room, I guess.

Update:

Preview night was nuts.  They had to open the Exhibit hall a half hour early due to crowds.

I nearly got knocked over a couple of times.  (remember I'm still kind of recovering from brain surgery last year).  I did bring a cane with me, but it's in my car. I may take it back to the con with me later, and using it for balance won't necessarily be it's primary use. ;D

Already bought my pass for next year.  $100.00 (ouch!)

Hasbro is displaying a Transformers Edition 2010 Camero.  Looks almost identical to Bumble Bee, except for the gun metal gray "Transformers" logo on the black part of the hood.  There are even Autobot logos on the sides under the Camero name.  And yes you can buy one this fall at a Chevrolet dealer.  (Pictures later after I upload them to Photobucket.

Viz has a huge booth again this year, as  well as Funimation.

More to come.

Yeah.  Tickets for this year were $75  for the 4-day pass.  I've got lots of pictures to upload and post yet.  In the meantime, here is a quick video of the Transformers Edition 2010 Camero that was on display.

We should group up, get cosplays involved, have awesome hotel parties and capture all the debauchery on camera.

it will happen in 2010, mark our words :D

I suggest you get your passes as soon as possible.  There is a cut off at 125,000 passes, and quite a few people were buying them even on preview night (like I did).

My guess is check in early September, or about the time the first Con updates are mailed out.

Wish I had pictures of these, there were two billboard trucks driving around the convention centre (along with one of the "Heroes"  Nissan Cubes)  that were advertising two films.  They were driving along side me most of the way home on I-5.
One was promoting Halloween II, the other was for Inglorius Bastards, that featured a black and white picture of a roughened up Brad Pitt, and had the tag line "Brad Pitt is a Basterd"  :D  (yes, that's the way it was spelled)

Personally they should have had more to promote Iron man 2.

or did they? my xbox is at home still downloading xbox live coverage. and my friend has the "Live" Attack of the show on his DVR. :D
I'll pretend if i was there in spirit. :P

Oh man, are tickets really going to be $100 for 2010?  Ugh, indecision.  I wish I knew if I was going to get laid off, that will factor heavily into planning.

My pics from this year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/88479354@N00/sets/72157621789846145/

I felt like I spent a lot more time in line this year than I have in the past.
