Title: Monday
Post by: Reipoker on March 31, 2009, 08:29:55 PM
Never been to Fanime.

Is Monday worth the extra night in the hotel?

What night is considered the Main Night? Saturday?

Sort of an odd schedule.

I would persoanlly have a room Sun-Mon for Monday. I didnt go last time but plan to this time. And you might as well get the room so you could stay all Sunday night and leave Mon instead of packing on Sun.

I would say that Saturday and Sunday are both equally main days in there own rights, both having the main events.

Why do you think it's an odd schedule?

I have never been to an anime convention, and I have been to quite a few, where Monday was a featured day at the con. Usually it is Friday to Sunday or Thursday to Sunday. Not sure if I can also get Monday off, events wise is it worth it. I am slightly on a tight budget so the extra night in the room would be pricey.

The bold text is contradictive, no  ::)?

Well, event wise, I'd say that Monday would not be worth it. It only lasts until 3PM or so, and all I can really think of is the closing ceremony. But I went to few events last year, so that wouldn't phase me. The only reason I didnt go on Mon was because I was sleepy and would have to travel all the way there from my house, which would be pointless considering I would be there for 6 hours only. This year though, well, hotel rooms are nice.

I think Reikpoker means he's never been to a convention where Monday is a featured day, though he has been to quite a few conventions.

Depending on when the 4th of July in the week, Monday is often part of Anime Expo. Also, Monday is often a con day for conventions held on other holiday weekends where Monday and not Friday is off (like Labor Day and other conventions that have taken place on Memorial Day, though not all of them).

My feeling is that the biggest (main) nights of Fanime are Saturday and Sunday. From year to year they've hosted the Masquerade, the big concert events, the Black & White Ball and some popular panels, including the Gurren Lagann one last year. Since Sunday has some big events, it's nice to have a room for that evening and then maybe get up in the morning and see if there are any deals in the Dealer's room for the last day (Monday.)

This. Monday is part of pretty much every memorial day and labor day weekend convention, whereas for most during those weekends, Friday is not.

As for having the room Sunday night: I'd say it is still worth it even if you leave Monday morning/afternoon, since you don't have to worry about missing anything Sunday night and all. I'm flying home Monday morning for that very reason.

Unless you're asking if it is worth it to have Monday night, then I'd say not unless you've got some other reason for it.

Most people usually go on Monday since vendors are trying to get rid of some of their stock so they sometime cut prices a little. I personally stay the whole weekend but if you ask I would say Monday is worth it. It's allllllllll over it. Heh heh heh hehhhhhh >:D

Monday is sad.  You can continue your fanime fun for a few hours, but the convention center clears out pretty quickly.  Then you're left alone.  Sigh.

I stay until Tuesday because I have a long drive home, so Monday night is like the saddest night of the year.  A whole year until the next fanime.

However, the dealers room on Monday can be a GREAT deal and closing ceremonies really help bring everything to a nice end.

Monday I usually pre-reg for next years fanime, and check the dealers room out to see of they have any great deals on the stuff. I do check out the closing ceremonies about half of my friends are gone the other half stay for a while. I usually take off around 3 or 4 pm sometimes 5 pm.

I'll probably be there for just as long (3-5). It would be interesting, if not sad, to see the end of Con. And then I will be alone. So alone.

I remember last year when I was leaving on Monday (I left right around the time stuff started to close up). I looked out of the hotel window and could still see people cosplaying just walking around like lost souls. I thought it was kinda sad at first but those are true Otakus. Standing it out till the end. XD

The staff that are still around tuesday afternoon are indeed the ones that need "help" :P

I didn't think staff would be there pass Monday. That's what I call dedication.

I love being able to stay the whole time. That way you can stick around doing whatever allllll of sunday and then go home monday whenever you feel like it. Monday is pretty depressing to be honest. It's like... Kinda empty since most people leave that morning. But I usually stick around really late anyway.
