I just watched the first episode. Should be noted that it is a alternate retelling of the original. Just judging the first episode, the battles seem to be a lot larger and more 'Epic'. You can't tell that there is much difference between the two yet, but then again it is only the first episode.
Thoughts?
I didn't read the manga so I don't care how much it veers off the original story. I did love this episode. Armstrong provides great humor as always.
Awesome! >__<.
Do you know if its the same japanese voice actors?

From what I could gather it is not so much an 'alternate retelling' but rather a remake that will keep true to the manga (like Hellsing Ultimate). There were already multiple clues in this episode to support it (the most obvious being the partial shots of an old, white-haired man though I won't say who it is since it is a big spoiler :P ). Overall it was a pretty good episode. More action in this one compared to the other TV series as well as the introduction of a lot more major characters (primarily most of the military personnel). I did like that they emulated the manga's style with the 'simple' renditions of the characters in the comical moments.
For those who haven't read the manga, everything after around episode 30 of the first TV series can be forgotten about as most of it was not in the manga (no Dante, the Fuher is not Pride, etc).

I hadn't seen the manga but I could tell something like that was going on. With that said though since I've no bias towards the manga I thought that this ep didn't have as strong as an impact towards the introduction of Ed as the Full Metal Alchemist and focused alot more on a brief introduction with the other important characters. Good to see Hughs alive again though. :P
I enjoyed the first series when I was younger and I really like the manga so I think I'm going to get a kick out of this one.
I don't like to read manga so I already know I'm going to like this new series. Episode 1 was great, the only thing I didn't like was the new seiyuu for Roy, but I'll get over that one pretty quick. I did like the new Lust, though.
@piccahoe: Some are the same, some are different. Ed, Al, Armstrong, and Hughes are all the same. The rest, at least in episode 1, are all different. I didn't bother looking at the characters that we haven't seen yet.
I would say it's just as good as the original only with 50% more epic.
I like it
I enjoyed the first episode. The short jokes never get old.
I'm not going to watch it. The original anime was complete and good, with strong themes and an ending that was probably cleaner than the manga. It's simply unnecessary.
Besides, I've got too many other things to follow.
I liked the first episode. At first i was a little confuse why Hughes was alive, but other than that the episode was really good. The fight scene was epic.

This 'second season' of FMA is a reset of the entire series in order to retell the story to be closer to the original source material (as posted on numerous sites).
The second episode was amazing. They sure let you in on alot of information, especially about the gate, and why he doesn't need circles - rather quickly. Like, "oh here ya go." ^^;
I like the way they covered their mother, and their history in the new version way better than they did in the original episode "Mother". Even though, in the older version, they showed more scenes of them actually interacting with Trisha - thus making the impact of her death greater on the viewer.
I'm very excited to see how this plays out. ♥
I can't quite put my finger on it but for some reason i really liked how ep 3 turned out
Oh? I didn't know it was already out. :-X
My only impression so far is that
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
so far its been the same as the old one
So far, I'm really enjoying what they've done with it. I could possibly say its quite some better than its counterpart.
I thought it was pretty interesting to watch since i've never watched FMA in subbs and the new artwork is pretty sweet.

Short jokes hurt peoples feelings you know! XD (I'm only a little taller then ed)
I think the series is ok, I love the opening by yui!!! Yui is awesome.
Finally they're going to follow the manga storyline! Don't get me wrong I did enjoy the first anime series of it, but story left me empty.

I agree. The manga had a better explanation of
certain things. First series was still amazing... but manga version is more fulfilling and in depth. After seeing the first ep of Brotherhood, I don't think I want to watch the rest until they catch up to the part in the manga that the first series changed.

I thought of doing that as well, but I FMA was out years ago, so this is a really good refresher. Brings me to tears remembering the good times.

The 4th ep with Tucker and Nina made me sad :'(
Reminds me of how brutal FMA could get. Not too much, but enough.
I thought it was great at first, but the last few episodes have been disappointing. I want more new content. They're moving quickly through the normal plot, maybe they'll add more to the end...
everything is starting to unfold! I'm glad that I didn't spoil myself by reading manga!
