Sorry about not being more specific.
I like L'Arc~en~Ciel, Nana Kitade, Utada Hikaru, Maximum the Hormone, a bit of Orange Range. My tastes would shift so anything thats like L'Arc~en~Ciel and Nana Kitade.
Thanks for the recommendations guys.
Depending on what style you want. I have:
Jrock
-----
The Candy Spooky Theater
Mix Speakers Inc.
Psycho Le Cemu
Girugamesh
UnsraW
Exist Trace
Deathgaze
Dir en grey(eveybody knows this band)
An Cafe(everybody knows this band, too. 8D)
Nightmare
Blood
Phantasmagoria
and so forth.
Some of these bands have already been disbanded. But their music still exists.
Perfume, c-ute, berriez, fifteen... look on youtube, morning masume,
The Gazette is also good, look up the song "Filth in the Beauty"
You might like 9mm Parabellum Bullet. They've been gaining in popularity as of late. They're pretty hard but not visual-kei and they do some really interesting things with their rhythms.
These are from my iPod:
ZZ
Arashiro Beni
TRAX
Coming Century
RICKEN'S
V6
I have more but I'll post it later.
Girugamesh, v-NEU, SuG for J-Rock/Visual Kei.
Angela Aki, PERFUME, Aural Vampire, FLOW, and VOCALOID for more pop tunes, even though VOCALOID has some rock stuff too. 8)
You might also want to check out some OP/ED from anime or character songs.
Bleach character songs are really nice, and then there is K-ON's Cagayake! Girls and Don't say lazy.

VOCALOID ain't a band. Vocaloid is a software for making music (specifically, synthesized singing). There are like, hundreds of different artists using Vocaloid to make completely different kinds of music...
these are the bands I listen to.
J-pop
TMR - seems like he can only hit one note, cuz he always hits it at the end of a phrase
Gackt - beautiful voice
Yoko Ishida - kinda screechy and willowy music. good for fantasy anime.
Ayumi Hamasaki - good music.
Angela - unique lyrics and rhythm
Hitomi Shimatani(my favorite) - I love her music. It has good variety and centers around a lot of latin beats.
kotoko - she's ok. nothing really struck me.
J-Rock
Pierrot (very hard music with great melodies, visual kei band)
Janne Da Arc (also visual kei, love their songs, very unique)
Aucifer - based off the anime sensual phrase---or was the anime based off the band?
L'arc en ciel - everybody know this one - Hyde is yummy!
Dir en grey - beautiful hard metal
Orange Range - nice beat music, lots of rap
UVERworld - I like their melodies, use of lyrics, regular rock
Kagerou - More hard metal, very ghost-like vocalist
Onmyouza - female and male vocalist, also metal, but softer
Mukku - It's hard rock, incorporates lots of musical varieties. unique and hypnotizing melodies.
Kagrra - kinda girly vocalist but good soft metal
Can you guess what kind of music I listen too? Don't really go for the popy stuff, but I hope you at least give some of these bands a chance. Some of them are kinda hard to find tho. Can't find a lot of them on itunes. Hope this helps.
O:
What about Alice Nine? (Hahahahaha, Guess they're not as popular). Alice Nine is great (:
I'm more of a Visual Kei/J-Rock fan ^^" Bands like: Alice Nine, SuG, the GazettE, An Cafe, Vidoll, Ayabie - I love<3
And the wonderful Miyavi - I would reccommend "Subarashiki kana, Kono Sekai - What a Wonderful World -" from Miyavi, it's not hardcore Visual Kei like Dir-En-Grey, but it's J-Rock and full of awesome (:
Check out SPEED. They are my favorite group and were HUGE back in the 90s (they were really young) and have just officially got back together in Aug '08. And their new style is awesome!

A 4 girl group, where only 2 girls sing... and the two girls that do sing were bad back then, and are now horrible...
Definitely check them out.
Realistically, I did enjoy a few songs by Speed back in the 90's. Admittedly, I bought the collections albums when they broke up(what in '99?). But man, I listened to them again a few months because my friend told me they got back together. I never realized JUST HOW BAD(I knew they were bad) they really were. Then the friend showed me some of their new stuff... and it had only gotten worse.
Speed's stuff is just generi-hiphop stolen pop. They were some of the first hip-hop inspired pop groups in Japan, since you know, Japan is always about 10 years slower than America...
If you want a more up to date version of Speed go listen to Perfume. It'll sound better too.
Some stuff no listed,
Porno Graffiti
AcidMan
Inoue Joe
Radwimps
Shiina Ringo
Tokyo Jihen
The Brilliant Green
Globe
Akiakane (wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww)
rad www
Thanks for your input! Everyone has their own tastes and personally, I don't care for Perfume at all. I think THEY can't sing.. SO what do you know? lol We all like what we like. I personally think SPEED is fantastic. And yes only 2 of the girls sing, but.. so what? Doesn't make the other 2 girls bad.. If they hated it so much they wouldn't have gotten back together. Koharu from Morning Musume can't sing. Hiroko and Eriko NOT being able to sing? Not true at all. But again we all have our tastes. All we're doing is giving this guy suggestions of groups to listen to. We don't need to get into a debate of WHY we like or dislike them. We'll leave it up to the original poster.
I DO have to agree with your suggestion on Globe. I love Globe.
Other suggestions:
Zone
Day after Tomorrow
B'z

Most of the artists you guys are listing did anime songs... heheh I can't imagine why.
I recommend 嵐 (Arashi) for J-pop. "One Love" and "Crazy Moon" are among my favorite songs.
Then there's this one awesome song 「そばにいるね」 ("Soba ni Iru Ne") by 青山テルマ (Aoyama Teruma) featuring Soulja. You just have to listen to it.
